I was looking for the sign in the picture, no such sign exists. The place is located near the back of a building with a sign on the sidewalk pointing in the direction of the business. Upon walking in, I, was really less than impressed. Be careful, there is a ledge that one can easily trip over if you don’t happen to look down. It is not nicely decorated or overly inviting. The owner is not very friendly, I was hoping that someone else could do my massage as I didn’t want that energy in my massage session. Perhaps due to using a voucher, I got the discount treatment. The massage was not thorough or relaxing. She ended the massage early, as if I wouldn’t notice. She just skimmed over my body, I felt as though she didn’t want to do the massage. I asked her a question and she just ignored me, I had to ask her again to get a response. Her technique was not what I would expect of an experienced masseuse. I will never return to this business and I will tell others of the poor service.

Overall the massage was nice but I felt was missing a couple things. When trying to schedule, there wasn’t a lot of availability and there was no availability on weekends through the online scheduler, which was frustrating. The massage voucher was a gift, so I had to go here, otherwise I probably would’ve tried elsewhere because of the availability. The massage was nice but I think I was her last appointment of the day so it felt a bit rushed. I probably would not go back unless I had another voucher deal – the regular cost seemed a bit much for what you get.

I had an Amazon local deal and I have to say that my experience exceeded my expectations. Scheduling was so easy and quick which is not always the case when you have a voucher. The place is clean, cozy and inviting. The actual massage was AMAZING. I often get sore after deep pressure but that was not the case and I just felt relaxed for a few days afterward(until life took over again :) I will definiely come back for more!

I had a great experience at Magnolia. I scheduled my appointment with Carol. The online system is very convenient for booking appointments. the salon is tucked in a little alley. Even though the place is really a basement-like suite, it is stilled decorated and set up very nicely. Carol was there and she showed me to the room. I got the hot stone massage and I enjoyed every minute of it. One issue was that the room was a bit cold; of course the heated table and the blanket helps a lot, but I would have like the temperature to be a little higher. Carol was very good. The massage was excellent. The pricing is also great. When I wanted to book my massage I saw that they had a very good deal on their website and I jumped on it. I also left with a very cute gift bag which had a body scrub in it! Loved the gesture!!! I definitely recommend Magnolia for a good, quick, no fuss massage. Suggestion: Arrive early; finding parking on the street can be a challenge.

I have been here once and just made an appointment to return for a second appointment. Loved it! I have had massages all over the city — I used to go to Nusta Spa or the Ritz Carlton, and have found my new favorite place! You do sacrifice the frills(no steam room or robes to lounge in here), but it is wonderful to be the only customer in the establishment. Carol is friendly and excellent at her work, and the massage room is warm and relaxing. What more can you ask for? She has also been running some great deals on her website — any massage for $ 80 right now!

I just finished using a Groupon deal for a series of 3 massages at Magnolia Massage & Body and it was a great massage experience. Every time I came in Carol was friendly and a calming presence. It’s not what I would consider a day spa experience(think more no frills) but the atmosphere is very relaxing, and the massage itself was great. She asked me where I wanted her to focus and spent time on that area. She also made sure to keep the temperature comfortable and adjusted it each time I came in. The schedule does full up fast but when I made appointments farther in advance I had no problems finding times that worked. I also ended up needing to reschedule an appointment and Carol was very accommodating and squeezed me on another day. In summary– very relaxing massage. Hoping that there are more Groupon deals or other specials. Prices are«DC standards» but I do definitely plan to go back.

I purchased a Groupon for this place with some degree of hesitation. Public Service Announcement: in my experience, a lot of the«spa and body services» Groupons(pedis, waxing, massages, etc) are either places that are new/reinventing themselves in some way, or places so terrible/unfriendly/nasty they can’t maintain a regular clientele and every few months are forced to seek out new victi– err, «service recipients» to keep themselves afloat. As it does not *appear* that Magnolia Massage is the former, I was deeply pleased to discover it wasn’t the latter, either. It’s located in a slightly awkward spot on Wisconsin Avenue, nestled amongst bridal boutiques and macaroon shops. Good luck finding street parking, especially if(god forbid) you’re there during Tow Time(7−10AM and 4−7PM, roughly). This, more than anything else, is probably my biggest gripe about the place — although I fully recognize it isn’t the fault of the proprietress and she can’t do much to change it. Still, if you want to make your appointment on time, budget an extra 15 minutes to either furiously circle the block or park in a lot down in Georgetown then hoof it uphill the 8 or so blocks towards Glover’s Park. You can make your appointment online, which I ALWAYS appreciate. It’s not open mid-week, but seems to keep reasonable hours during the time it IS open(Thursday-Monday.) The shop is tiiiiiiiny, with just one treatment room. It’s a little shabby chic on the inside; the building is old and it could probably use a good gutting to get the slightly gross bathroom/storage areas in tip-top shape. But the«consulting area» is beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. The treatment room, too, has excellent furniture, from a state-of-the-art heated massage table to tasteful decorations. Everything is kept at a perfect temperature, per the client’s individual request, and a combination of soothing music plus white noise machines takes the traffic noise down to «functionally nonexistent» levels. The lone massage therapist, Carol, is a solid B+/A– at her job. She focused heavily on the areas I mentioned with great, deep pressure and used quality moisturizing oil. In fact, she was almost a little *too* attentive; she spent almost the whole time on my back, with other areas(legs, scalp, front shoulders) tacked on at the end as almost an afterthought. And she skipped my hands and feet/ankles entirely. Nonetheless, the experience was overall VERY pleasant and I would definitely be comfortable recommending her to a friend. Maybe add some macaroons and make an afternoon of it … after all the trouble of finding parking, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting your time’s worth.

I bought a Groupon for Magnolia after seeing all the great reviews on Unilocal.I made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon and ended up very ill, I called and emailed and left a message(as I was directed by the voicemail to do) asking to reschedule and letting her know I was not going to be able to make it due to being sick. She called me back a day after my massage was meant to take place and told me that she hadn’t received my voicemail so I wouldn’t be able to use my Groupon(unless I wanted to pay for a missed session). I asked her to clarify if she indeed was asking me to pay for the session when I did inform her and she said yes, that I would need to either pay for it or take the loss because she had not checked her voicemail and that is how she does business. I took the loss on the Groupon because at this point i didnt ever want to see someone who provides this kind of customer service anyway. It’s really a shame too because I am not a one-time massage user– I have a horrible back and have been trying to find someone in the area to be my go-to person, I just thought this Groupon would be a good way to try someone with decent reviews. Awful customer service, and considering i never even got to test the massage skills, that’s the only thing that matters.

I had a groupon for a 50 minute Swedish massage. The whole experience was great. The small space and privacy of just being the only client made it even better. Carol was very nice and her hands took all of my knots out. Aside from making sure I was at the right door(off the path of Wisconsin) I had a fabulous experience.

For the convenience, comfort, and overall experience, I’d be a regular here, if I could afford it. The prices are competitive for DC… I just happen to be a poor graduate student. That said, I’ve been twice thanks to Groupon, and both experiences have been excellent. Magnolia is tucked away off Wisconsin and is a one-room, one-woman shop. There is a nice little waiting area with tea, magazines, and locally-made spa products. There are lockers for your things and super plush robes to walk the 10 feet from the dressing room to the massage table. Carol has a calm and unassuming demeanor, good technique, and can adjust her pressure accordingly. I would really like to see this new business succeed and become a staple in the neighborhood, so GO!

My husband surprised me with a massage here tonight and I was pleasantly surprised! I was a little nervous upon entering because I had a bit of trouble finding the entrance, and then when you do see the door, there is cloth hanging over the window so you wonder what they’re hiding inside. But I was pleased to discover it was totally normal :) The lady running the place(does seem like a one woman operation) is very mellow and soothing. I changed into a robe in the small and very dark changing room and then went on to the massage room. It was a great 50 minutes. I’m pretty picky about my massages and I think that she did a great job and really zeroed in on the areas I requested. I left loose and relaxed. I’d definitely try her again.

I had a great massage and experience with Carol. Her place is tucked away in Georgetown, very personal and quaint. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you are looking for a spa, but if you are looking for a great massage, definitely come. I used my Groupon and had no problem making an appointment or using the voucher.

Great place! Great service and value which are both hard to find in this town. I purchased a Living Social deal, which was a great deal by the way for my girlfriend. I’d wanted an afternoon appointment but Carol was all booked. After I explained my situation, she offered to show up 15⁄20 minutes before the usual opening time to accommodate us. My girlfriend was super pleased with the massage and I was super pleased with the service. I totally recommend this place and I will totally come back, Living Social deal or not.

I approve! I purchased a living-social deal for my first visit and I can’t stop raving about this place. I like the personal attention I get and how relaxed I feel when I leave(having the lounge area all to myself is also a plus). It’s located in Georgetown, close to lots of shops and restaurants. I’ve been there a few of times and parking has been surprisingly easy to find on the side street. Hint: They offer nice discounts when you purchase a series of massages, Enjoy!
