Cozy atmosphere, great service, and amazing food, make Liberty Tree a place we return to again, and again! We’ve been semi-regulars for over four years, having enjoyed New Year’s Eve, Valentines Day, and other family celebrations here. It’s a warm and cozy place, very intimate. Even when crowded, it’s still very easy to converse with ones table mates. They have a decent beer selections — sorry, not a wine person, so can’t judge that. The service is always on spot, not intrusive. The food is outstanding! Lobster Mac ‘n cheese is always a hit. Sriracha wings are tasty, with lovely heat. Chopped salad is a delightful option. Don’t like Brussels sprouts? You’ll like Liberty Tree’s! The prime rib dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings is worth every penny! Pay attention to the special menu items — some of. The best dishes I’ve had been specials. The one area I wish they’d step up their game is on their desserts. Nearly every dessert, both menu items and items on seasonal/special menus, have dairy. I’m lactose-intolerant, so often there isn’t an option. They’re also a bit on the small side.

I’m definitely a fan. So far I’ve only had the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious. I’m hoping to come back and try the half/price pizza and also try that Prime Rib on Thur/Fri. Sat at the bar. Staff was friendly and not obtrusive. Beer selection was small but I’ll get over that.

I had the lobster mac and cheese and the fish and chips. Great selection of craft beer.

I was so disappointed. I had the beet salad and the clam chowder. The beets were cubed and not well roasted– not what I was expecting. The lemon dressing was tasty, but so strong that by the end my mouth was puckering. It came with one tiny ball of fried goat cheese that wasn’t even well cooked or quality. The soup was a little cold and too congealed. It tasted good, and the clams we’re tender, but I wasn’t impressed. My friend’s rigatoni was good though. The atmosphere is so bare and the servers really aren’t on the top of their game. I don’t know how this place has survived this long.

This place was phenomenal! My favorite was the lobster mac and cheese! I would go back for the Mac and cheese alone! Also tried the fish tacos… They were tasty. Being from California I’m always looking for a Cali fish taco, which these are not, but they are still very good! The service was great and our server made fantastic drink suggestions!

The siracha maple wings, the godfather pizza and the risotto balls are delicious. The bottomless brunch is far better than any others in the city. The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. Great local spot that we always go back to.

Automatic one star review due to food poisoning. Everyone shared the calamari, everyone was sick the next day. Fortunately it was mild, but still not cool. Food was ok, not exceptional. I would give it three stars.

I went there with a friend and tried their margherita pizza, while my friend tried the lobster mac and cheese. My overall impression of the margherita pizza was that it was fresh, but a bit too thin and small. The lobster mac and cheese, which btw, cost $ 16, from my tiny sampling, was pretty good, but worth $ 16? My friend and I agreed that it wasn’t. Service was fine.

What a great place. Small and quaint on the inside with a big window seeing through the kitchen watching magic happen and a nice patio with some mood lighting blocking you from the noise that is H. St. You don’t even feel like you’re on that bustling street from the patio. The fried chicken… I normally get angry when there’s no bone to fried chicken but this was prepared marvelously sitting between a bed of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. You could tell the red mashed potatoes were fresh since there were still clumps in them and the sautéed spinach had that just-enough garlic flavor you want. The fried chicken was so juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside just like I like. They topped off that plate with some fresh ground pepper and sea salt. Absolutely amazing. The lobster roll was also amazing. Big chunks of lobster and perfectly buttered bread. Boardwalk style fries with just the right crisp but did lack salt. Deep fried brussels were decent and were a bit better with the sauce but the stars were the main courses. Yes. Yes. Yes.

3.5 stars. Great place to grab a bite on H st! We got there early and had the fabulous patio to ourselves. Want to go back soon, and may revise my rating upwards. We had the goat cheese salad(delicious!), the lobster roll(sorta bland and overpriced, but still tasty), and the chicken Parmesan sandwich(also a little bland). The service was outstanding.

I’m a little shocked to read so many rave reviews. I thought the food was below average and way over priced. My salad and my friends salad were both drenched in dressing with low quality lettuce. My husband had the rigatoni, which was the tastiest thing at the table but still I would give it just a three star. Our other friend had fish chips which was just ok. There are so many places on H Street, I would skip Liberty Tree and choose someplace else.

My husband and I really enjoyed eating lunch at Liberty Tree today. The service was super attentive, fast and friendly, and the food was great. We were looking for a lunch spot that wasn’t strictly brunch(I was wanting pizza, he wanted a burger), but offered a brunchy, relaxed atmosphere– Liberty Tree hit the nail on the head. We started with the fried shrimp special– it came garnished with banana peppers and this amazing sriracha aioli. It was inhaled in a matter of moments. Highly recommend. I got the pizza special with Prime Rib on top and my husband got the burger with bleu cheese and onions. Both were great. All in all we both enjoyed our experience. Great food and attentive service. We’ll definitely come back and try dinner next time– hopefully on the patio when it warms up!

Ha! So we stumbled upon this place after volunteering in the city. I loved this quaint little place. I had the smokehouse pizza with added chicken. I could only eat ½; it was pretty hearty and really good. The waitress was exceptionally kind and attentive. H Street is booming with fast paced people. I love how they took their time with us. We even sat by one of DC’s former mayors.

The best across the board restaurant on H st. ! I have not had a bad meal here from the lobster mac to the long list of pizzas. They have nightly specials and for nice weather an outdoor patio. The service is always great and the chef is a great guy. Liberty tree hits on all points for my family.

I came to the Liberty Tree with some friends I was visiting. I had just gotten off the plane and my friends brought me here for their weekend brunch. We definitely took advantage of their bottomless mimosas and bloody marys, which is such a great deal($ 15), and they were really great drinks as well. We split three breakfast pizzas, which had a baked egg, home fries, and maple syrup on it. I was not really feeling the combination of toppings while reading the menu, but I didn’t want to be a pain. To my surprise it was really really good! We originally just ordered two, and because it was so good we decided to get a third! It came out to be about $ 30 each, including drinks. But what stood out the most was the service! Our server was so polite and friendly! I thought we were being pretty loud for it being such a small space(indoor seating), and she was still really great and completely attitude free. If I come back to DC, I would love to come back here.

Four taps & eight seats at the bar, a modest dining room serving a short menu of American fare plus pizzas, Liberty Tree is a great neighborhood joint. Low music and a silent TV added to the charm for me, good for a conversation. The regular menu is short yet manages to go all over the map, with some emphasis on fried seafood: risotto balls, fried cod sammich, fish tacos, prime rib every Thursday, and various pizzas like godfather, clam and(a new one on me) bacon, egg & cheese on a white pie. Draft beer selection was tiny but quite interestingly crafty: Atlas Rowdy, Port City Wit, New Holland pumpkin and(my fave) 3 Stars Southern Belle, a hugely flavorful porter, yum. Not cheap tho, $ 7.50−8. Many bottles too but $ 10 for a bottle of Terrapin IPA is kinda spendy. A bowl of clam chowdah from the specials menu $ 6 was thick with plenty of meaty clams and a hint of spice, good. My clam pie(yeah I doubled down on the clams) was properly thin, crispy and quite loaded with clams, but also slathered in butter & cream which got to be dang rich after a few slices($ 12). Vegetarian rating: 2.5 stars for the modest variety: pretzel and risotto ball apps, a couple of salads, exactly one entrée of pesto pasta with mushrooms & spinach, and a few pizza pies. Oh yeah, sitting at the bar lets you in on pretty much everything the kitchen’s doing. but maybe you don’t really want to see & hear everything, sure didn’t do it for me :)

Adding… Prime Rib night is Thursday AND Friday now!!! Love that we have this solid restaurant in the neighborhood! Lobster roll, pizzas and salads are really good. Had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich – the bun over powered the«extremely» thin grilled chicken filet. The buffalo sauce was spread on top of filet and topped with shreddrd carrots which was good for crunch but flavor was a little confusing. The ranch or blue cheese dressing was spread on face of the bottom bun. Will skip in future but had to try it. French fries are consistently awesome!

Ordered the fried Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and the pork belly for the main dish. I’m not wild about fried food and the menu has a lot of fried food if you like that sort of thing. If you aren’t into pizza or pasta, the menu selection is limited. I just felt so unhealthy eating the food. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and fried and salty. The pork belly was so fatty, I could hardly taste the meat. My bf had the lobster Mac and cheese appetizer, which is adequately sized for an one person meal. He said it was good. The place has paper covers for the table and the cups were plastic and there’s a couple of TVs in there if u want to watch a game or something. Not a fancy sort of place at all even though it has some nice details like the ceiling and the menu seems like it’s trying for upscale bar food.
