Update. I am dropping this place to three stars because I don’t think they are that great of a value for the money anymore. They give you as much chicken here for $ 10 in the grilled chicken platter as Ana’s down the street gives you on their $ 5 chicken sandwich. If I want to eat tasty Mexican/Salvadoran food for cheap, I’ll go down the street to Ana’s. If I want to eat Mexican/Spanish food in a place with a little nicer atmosphere, I’ll go next door to Top Spanish. This place is kind of squeezed out of the equation for me. Besides, last time I went, I didn’t even see people eating in there, just drinking beers and listening to loud music.

As far as Mexican/Salvadorean food in the area goes, its not bad. But then again it doesn’t have much competition. I really only go here because it is super close to my house, and we usually get takeout as the dining room is small and can feel cramped. So all the food is made fresh and has a home cooked feel, before the put up a wall you used to be able to see right into the kitchen where the women in the back were making your meal. The meat has really good flavor, the rice/beans are lacking, but others might like them as they are made in a style I don’t really enjoy. A couple of my friends really like their stews and I usually get the tacos. Service is definitely lacking, though if you get over the language barrier they are friendly enough. If you only have a few people food doesn’t take long at all. Overall, its nothing special, but if you have the craving for Salvadorean food and you are on Georgia Ave its a good place to stop by.

super slooooow service. not bad food though. there were seven of us, and forty five minutes later they took our order again as the cook was confused. some people were finished eating when others just got their food. not a fan of the runny salvadoran salsas love the glass chicken sitting where the coffee carafe should be on top of a refrigerator…
