I crave my moms food about 3x/week, making my desires for Korean cuisine at an all time high. This cart is just up the street from where I work, and decided today to walk over and satisfy my craving. 1. I love this place BECAUSE it’s a food cart. This concept of street food is actually very common in Korea, which makes it more ideal that the food will most likely taste better. 2. As a Korean American I hold very high expectations to what Korean food should taste like. The first thing I wanted to try was the bibimbap, one of the staple Korean rice dishes. For $ 9 I got an enormous to-go bowl with a nice portion of rice and veggies, kimchi — with a shocking flat rate — with or without adding meat(I got bulgogi). That’s a DC steal. 3. The woman is just so damn sweet. How can you not smile when you see her? I can say for sure that my stomach is happy, and I am as satisfied as I can be, especially with the lack of Korean food options that are available in DC. Until I visit my parents again, this woman just might substitute as my weekday food mother.

FINALLY. I lived in Korea for a year and this place is infinitely better than any other Korean place in the area(Ellicott City, MD also has some good spots for those willing to drive). Easily the most authentic, tastiest, and reasonably priced Korean place in the DMV. If you’ve been to Korea then this is the place for you — the best kimchi in town. They don’t mess around and keep it simple which I really appreciate. Korean fusion is hot right now but I’m glad they don’t stray from the classics. I’m a sucker for the curry rice and mapa tofu specials, but their daily staples hold their own.

For the number of times, I have eaten at this place. if I did not give it a 5, I would be kidding myself. Tucked away from all that crazy food truck scene at Franklin square, this single food cart has people flocking to it by the numbers. That people are willing to wait in line during lunch alone speaks volumes about this truck. The food is just great. Get whatever you want. Pork, chicken, tofu, etc. They have a different special everyday. I just simply love the Mapa Tofu special, which runs on Wednesday. This food cart is actually very very reasonably priced. You should definitely try it out, if you are in the area. Verdict: Don’t miss. Must visit!

Been eating here for years. Perfect for a cheap lunch. Sometimes the line is long which can be annoying when you’re short on time. And it’s long because food is made right in front of you. It never disappoints. Recommend the bulgogi with kimchi.

I was so excited to finally try this food cart/truck in DC. Luckily they are located near my training center and was only a few blocks away. They are owned by older Korean couple and offer«daily specials» which are set & consistent so easy to order and also have their popular«bibimbap» dish with 4 – 5 different choice of meat and vegetable option as well. I have tried the spicy pork bibimbap, bulgogi beef bibimbap and one of their daily specials. Surprising they were all really good, fresh ingredients and very cheap. Daily specials are selling for $ 6 or 8 and bibimbap for $ 8. They also have large bottle of soda and water for a $ 1 and NOT $ 3 like other convenient stores and hot dog stands. It’s a large portion of food and definitely worth the money in my opinion. They are only there 3 – 4 hours for lunch and line usually gets long but goes by pretty quick. The couple are super friendly and politely. I shall be back!

Now that I’ve worked steps from the Korean Cart I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this husband and wife team once a week for two years. It is consistently delicious! They’ll also modify orders. For instance, I often order bi bim bap with no rice and they’ll just pile the meat on top of extra veggies and kimchee. Also, the veggies are always fresh and crunchy. The meat is always well cooked. The spicy kimchee is my favorite but they also have other less spicy options. Try the fish jeon on Fridays. It is VERY tasty!

This food cart is manned by the cutest, hardworking couple. Good family business(supposedly their son or son-in-law? forgot — helped them get the license to stay at this location). Their food is spicy and delicious! I love the bulgolgi and bibimbap, which are VERY affordable for the large amount they give you. currently @ $ 6 – 8. Yum! The sauce isn’t too heavy but has just the right amount of flavor. The other Korean cart one street over on L has thicker sauce(not my preference), so it depends on what you like. The duo cooks the food on the spot, so sometimes there’s a little bit of a wait — but no worries, it moves quickly. Just recently they started taking credit card, as well. They also don’t skimp on anything! They’re polite, open for small talk + take care of all the details, down to the bag and nicely folded napkin, kimchee options. Daily specials change every week. Occasionally, there’s fish, mandu dumplings and kim bap rolls. Come early, as the food tends to run out by 1/1:30! They’re a hit. And as a testament to their quality/taste/everything — I take all my friends who visit me for lunch here! It’s such a treat.

So first I tried to go to the«Bulgogi Cart» a block away but I guess this is the same cart and they moved? It looks like the same place from the pics. I came around 12:30 on a weekday and there was a small line but it went through very fast. The service was friendly and very efficient. I got the spicy pork bulgogi bibimbap. It was very good but I expected a bit spicier and the egg was scrambled and chopped into little squares rather than a nice yolky egg on top. I also got some of the spicy kimchi on the side and after she explained that the mild kimchi option was for the Americans and the spicy one was the true Korean version I expected it to be quite spicy, but it was only mildly spicy. Also the chopsticks they gave me turned out to be cracked but fortunately they gave me a fork too. But overall despite it being somewhat less spicy than I hoped/anticipated, this was a very good, very fast and affordable lunch option.

This little food stand is delicious! The couple is super nice and friendly. I really like their bibimbap w half bulgogi n half spicy chicken, I ask for extra kimchi on the side. $ 8 is a good deal for so much food.

I can’t say enough good things about this food cart! Delicious and affordable Korean food served by the friendliest people on the planet. I come here at least once a week because I know the food is always hot, delicious, fast and cheap. The folks who run this cart are so hard-working and kind, and it just feels good to support people who love what they do, work so hard at it, and do it all with a smile. Their chicken teriyaki is amazing, and they have yummy daily specials, bulgogi, bibimbap and spicy pork and chicken. The menu is simple, but everything I have tried has been so yummy. The small portion is enough to fill you up, and the large meal, priced at just $ 8, really is enough for two. They take credit/debit cards, too! So stop paying for overpriced food card Korean food, and try this smaller Mom and Pop cart. You’ll become a fan real fast! Seriously, when I travel for work I miss this food.

I always see this cart setting up in the morning when I walk from Metro to my office. The guy says they open about 10 with food ready about 9:30. I stopped by around 9:15 and he was able to make me a small Bulgogi plate. Maybe that’s a little early for Korean food for most people but I was craving rice for breakfast(I’m Asian). For $ 5 I got a good amount of bulgogi(marinated beef) and kim chi on white rice. The bulgogi was surprisingly tender and lightly marinated and the kim chi was perfectly pickled and spicy without being sour or too salty, probably to better suit the tastebuds of DC lunchers(I love sour kim chi, though). I mean it was still good kim chi and if you don’t like it or aren’t familiar with it, you probably are better off getting the mild salad or greens. I’ll be back for a full lunch plate and see if the bulgogi is still tender by lunch time(I think he cooks his bulgogi and spicy pork in the morning so it’s faster to serve during a rush).

Good cheap Korean food. EXTREMELYFRIENDLY service! I probably come here a couple times a month. They have a «special» for each day of the week. I like the Fish Jeon special which is basically some fried fish fillets dipped in egg. The Chap Chae special is also good. My favorite meat option is the bulgolgi which is very flavorful. If you come after 100PM, there’s a very good chance they may have run out of bulgogi and spicy chicken. They accept credit cards, but I recommend you give them cold hard CASH.

LOVELOVELOVE this cart!!! My mom’s Korean and I grew up eating Korean food. Normally i just order either the kimbap or bibimbap. Kimbap is only there during certain times of the year. its pretty damn good and is def. like what mom/grandma used to make. they have a few dishes that are more«americanized» that i don’t really try… my coworkers seem to love them though. when i have a craving for korean food i just get the two i listed above. usually the bibimbap with bulgogi or spicy pork, depending on my mood… WITH a lot of kimchi please! anyway. recommend, and go here all the time. loooove it and the couple that works the cart are super sweet.

Ok so for my last day in DC I knew I had to try to get my hands on some Korean food(because I currently live in Lincoln, Nebraska where it’s not easily accessible) I found this on Unilocal the night before and even though it is kind of out of the way(more than a few blocks from the National Mall– which was were I was spending most of my time) I made a plan to make my way there. With my luck the weather sucked, it rained but I was hopeful because it was Friday and their special was Fish jeon which is one of my favorite Korean food items. I made my way to the Museum of Women in Art(which btw is a freakin’ awesome place, so worth the admission price) which I knew was just a couple blocks from the cart location. Museum opened at 10am which gave me time to walk around and work up an appetite, I was ready for lunch around 11:30am which was great because I knew I wanted to get there earlier enough to beat the crowd. Half way up the block it started to rain… but I pressed on, finally I reached the cart. There were two big smiles looking down at me(I assume the owners of the cart) I placed my order the Friday special and to my surprised was asked if I wanted meat, no charge, um YEAH! I got spicy pork and kimchi to go with my fish jeon and rice. They accept credit card which was a plus, once they assembled my lunch and I paid it was time to find a place to eat… With the rain, my park lunch had to be relocated, but to where… I walked for a while and got to the White House Visitor Center, I was hoping to find shelter to enjoy my lunch… sadly I was wrong, even though they had a «food court»(they sold food) there was no where to eat it, well there was but it was all wet –____– Ok so really long story but I finally decided that even though this was best setting to enjoy my meal I was determined to have it and enjoy my last full day in DC. I found a bench by the gift shop/food court. A little cold but oh my word, it was probably one of the best meals I had in DC. the fish jeon was soft and flakey but held it’s shape and didn’t fall apart when dip in the sauce… the kimchi tasted homemade… the spicy pork was spicy but good… to end my DC trip with an awesome lunch even though the journey sucked the food was well worth going through everything.

This is a great little Korean food truck. Accepts credit cards(no AmEx). The line moves quickly and the owners are definitely hustling to keep things swift during lunch hour. Very reasonably priced, at $ 7 for a large and $ 5 for a small. You can mix meats for the entrée(for example, half pork/half chicken teryaki) and select from 3 types of «salad:» lettuce, mild kimchi, or spicy kimchi. Make sure to ask for sesame oil and hot sauce to go with!

Rice and meat. So simple yet wonderful. That delicious perfectly marinated meat with a bowl of hot chewy rice– drizzled with some sriracha or sambal chili paste. MHM. This place has really perfected that combination. There’s something so warm and lovely about Korean food. I think it’s because all the ingredients can be mixed together yet it’s still flavorful and super delicious. Korean Food Cart is owned by the most adorable and happy couple that are excited to share their food and culture with you! Truly the Asian way. For $ 4 – 8 dollars, you can get copious amounts of authentic and delicious Korean food! I would recommend the bibimbap with bulgolgi. It comes with rice, meat, egg, sauteed vegetables, and some pickled cucumber/radish. Throw the spicy sauce on top, mix it around a little and you have a well balanced lunch that’s bursting with flavor and great textures. ASIANFOODRULES!(Not biased at all…)

I’m glad I work nearby because I love this cart! For $ 5-$ 7, the amount of meat, rice and kimchi they give you can’t be beat! I’ve tried everything on their menu and they were all tasty and quality is pretty consistent. My go to are spicy pork, bulgogi, or bulgogi bibimbap(you get scrambled egg not fried egg with your bibimbap). They also have daily specials and I find myself looking forward to their Friday special, fish jeon(which also comes with a side of your choice of meat!). Another great thing about this food cart is the couple running it. They are super friendly and always smiling! They are located in front of Tattoo Bar on K St. They’re the only food cart there so you can’t miss them. :)

This place is right by my office and after a few weeks of walking by it and inhaling the delicious smell of bulgogi, I couldn’t resist. First of all, this husband and wife team is always smiling, and work every week day. They are so gracious, the ordering experience primed me to love the food. Everything here is homemade, and their fice is great. I usually order the spicy chicken bibimbap and it never disappoints. They even have extra spicy sauce on the side to season to taste. I dump the whole thing on there. The portions are perfect and it feels much healthier than many of the food trucks around franklin square. The bulgogi is well marinated and not tough… And they have weekly specials. I highly recommend this place.
