JFCU is not a very good credit union. Whenever I call JFCU I get poor customer service. My experience with this credit union has led me to believe they outsource different aspects of their business to various call centers in the region. This results in poor customer service. It is difficult to have problems resolved. When I have spoken with upper management they’ve shown that they do not care much. This credit union is by far the worse.

I have been a member of JFCU for 17 years; and I am very glad that I only use it for my basic spending. I do the majority of my banking through the United States Senate Federal Credit Union, where i have been a member for over 20 years. The USSFCU puts JFCU to shame when it comes to customer service. My JCFU visa/​debit card was compromised and used in another state. JFCU’s attempt to contact me was to call my home number in the middle of a work day. Luckily, I happened to go on-​line to check my account and noticed that something was amiss. While they did return the funds to my account, they seemed very unconcerned about the theft. Recently, I attempted to do an on-​line payment through a third party biller’s website, and JFCU seemed unable to make this go through; however, USSFCU had no problem. I will continue to use JFCU in a limited capacity only because it is convenient for my every day spending. I will save my important transactions for the USSFCU.

ANSWER YOUR PHONE… The loan products are pretty generous, but come on, 15 – 20 minute wait times? WHEN is that okay for me to waste my time with you like that? So, I am still on hold, so I will take this time to leave reviews regarding their crazy phone times. Good luck staying in business.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I filled out an opine application for a line of credit that I needed for emergencies. I received an email approximately two days later directing me to call customer service and. open a checking account in order to apply for credit. I subsequently called the credit union last night and was given the hardest time on the phone by a female customer service representative. She told me that I cannot open an account unless my occupation exactly matches the list that they have online. She then made me log in to the website for the list and told me to read it but kept asking me irrelevant questions whn I tried to read it which was very annoying. I told her that I am in the military and work for another organization that fits the decryption of occupations that they were looking for. Unfortunately she would not allow me to open an account telling me that I should join a sherifs organization so that I can become a member (I’m not a sheriff) I had to go through so much red tape and beureaocracy for a line of credit that I wished to open. This credit union needs to hire more competent people and be more courteous to military, veterans and any form of law enforcement

Customer service was great setting up the account. Then, when there were fraudulent charges on my JFCU credit card, things fell apart. It turns out the credit union outsources EVERYTHING. Checking and savings statements are processed by a third party, bill pay is a third party, the credit card service center and statements are a third party. As a result, nobody is able to tell you anything because nobody has access to the necessary parts of the account. I was told I’d have to do my own investigation into the fraud! I did get a new card, but that was screwed up too. When it came time to pay, I couldn’t because the online payment application would only say «the card returned a system error.» After being bounced back and forth between the credit union and cardholder service groups, I was told I could pay by phone. After that, I got a $ 5 fee for paying by phone, which was a complete surprise. I literally got off the phone 30 minutes ago after talking with Susan and her response? «We’ve had that charge for a very long time — we won’t reverse it for you.» As soon as I post this, I’m going down to close my accounts. Other issues: the bill pay list is very limited and it doesn’t seem like you can add your own payees, the hours are very limited, and the locations are hard to reach. Not only that, but because of the types of locations, you have to go through a security screening to get in, and some of them are not accessible at all unless you actually work at that particular location (like FBI). There are better places out there, with better interest rates and MUCH better customer service, where you won’t feel like a ping pong ball bounced back and forth.

Well, I knew the good times couldn’t last.
This credit union, supposedly «better» than the big box banks, just slammed me with an EIGHT DOLLAR CHARGE for using an ATM. Yep — 8 bucks. They have NEVER charged me before for using an ATM in all the time I’ve been with them, but apparently they have now. I am absolutely FURIOUS.
You also can’t make a deposit where you need to. I tried to walk up to a branch in downtown D.C. to deposit a check and was told that «it was a secured, private branch». Then DON’T freaking list it on your website as available.
Reps are pleasant, but pretty unhelpful.
I’m going to stay here because the place is connected with my job and it ISN’T as bad as the big box banks in a lot of respects, but I am NOT happy with their new policies — and it IS a new policy despite what the rep claims.
Pretty pissed off at the moment.
