I’m devastated that I have to write a sad review of ID Tech. Last summer, my 9 year old son flew through the courses offered for his age, and we were so happy with his experience that we signed him up for a second week. At the end of last summer the fabulous instructors here in DC recommended Java class for my son. Aidan has been teaching himself Java at home in anticipation of this summer. Unfortunately the ID Tech home office refuses to permit aidan into the java class for this summer. The reason — «he is too young.» «sorry. he is too young.» It does not matter to ID Tech that aidan has a gift for programming, that he is doing 9th grade algebra while in the 3rd grade, or that he has downloaded«teaching yourself java» manuals at home. He will be absolutely crushed when i tell him that ID tech won’t have him. I’m disappointed that a program professing to boost internal drive would so easily squelch the ambition and talent of a young child who dreams of becoming a programmer. shame on you.
