I was told by a friend to get food here. This place is disgusting, the staff is rude and cheap. The biggest warning is the either shop apart from the dining area is behind a bullet proof glass wall

Upon entering HoChi one would be scared to order anything from this god forsaking place. I mean look at it! But to Howardites this place is the Holy grail of late night greasy food. I got a chance to visit this place a couple of weekends ago. I haven’t had carryout food in a while so I figured why not. Of course I got wing and fries with Mumbo sauce. Yum. Love this place!

«HoChi» was my first introduction to DC carryout over 15 yrs ago. All I can say is, if you have never been, you are living in a fool’s paradise. The mumbo sauce has been touched by the hand of zeus. The steak & cheese gives me life. Fried rice will make you slap ya mama. I live 30 mins away from this spot and still go whenever possible.

Food is amazing. And don’t be disturbed by the thickness of the bulletproof plexi glass they have here. Just pray, look up and to the left, and tell them your order. You’ll be fine. But if not, can I have your food? :D

I grew up on this food. No other carry out compare in my opinion. You can never go wrong with the wings and mumbo sauce.

Something about this place. Nostalgic as well to my younger Howard days, house fried rice mumbo sauce all over and half and half does it for me

This place is the definition of a hole in the wall but the chicken wings and fries with mumbo sauce all over it is AMAZING

Everytime I go to DC I have to stop here and get the usual; 4 piece and fried rice w/mambo suave and a half n half. This place is good… As long as you order from the right menu, meaning if it’s not written in magic market don’t order it. This isn’t the place for actual Chinese food but if you live by the motto I do «if it’s good it’s good» you’ll be ok

I was quite disappointed with the quality of their Shrimp fried rice b/c its my favorite no matter where i go. Also, they are a cash only restaurant(Its 2014 bruh). They do have a little old atm on the side(which is very sketchy if i’m honest), but okay. Its always full with students and workers b/c its pretty much cheap chinese fast food. They could be a whole lot better.

Great Mumbo sauce. Great seasoned chicken(tenders & wings). Great mix drink(half ice tea/half lemonade). Very Great & Cheap price food/drinks. Reasons why I don’t give a 5 star: They only accept cash, no credit cards. Looks dirty in the waiting/ordering area. They don’t have AC during the summer & no heat during the winter(from my experience).

1. Grungy 2. Tiny 3. Cash only 4.Always full 5.Skeptical meat All the things you need for solid, cheap Chinese fastfood. Came here when I attended Howard’s homecoming game and I have to say I was a little worried when I heard it called«Ho Chi» but all that was calmed when I walked in. They probably made more this weekend, than they have all month. It was so full! A friend of mine told me to try the mix. Honey for $ 1, I am always willing to jump on that risk. IT was SO good. Like, just a perfect blend of whatever and whatever. I have to remind myself to get it without ice and order 7 the next time because it’s just crazy how good it was. Mambo sauce will be attempted on my next trip as well.

I can’t say that this is the best place to eat, but when you’ve got a hankering for some wings on the cheap… Well, sure. I ate here for the last time a few nights ago, and while I won’t miss the oily food and the dangerous location, I will say that I won’t miss it much at all. I did see rats outside of the place, or maybe they were just giant mice. Needless to say, it was only after I had purchased my order. And well, you can’t throw away food. I’m sure that the deep frying would have killed any bacteria that would have otherwise collected on it. The inside looks like a bulletproof soup kitchen without a good place to sit. College students and homeless people frequent the area. Well that may sound like a bad place to get food, you have to ask yourself why that would even raise a brow, considering that it looks sketchy as hell to begin with… from the outside… even in the pictures. Why did I eat here? Call it a phase. Though I’ve moved on, like when I graduated from college, I won’t try to relive those memories.

It would get 5 stars if i didnt see multitudes of mice running out of that stump outside of HOChi(that can be a real appetite killer) Their wings, rice, mozarella sticks, fries, mumbo sauce, and«mix» are soooo good. mm mm mm. Like a previous poster wrote, go with as little valuables as possible if you go when it’s dark, and I too will leave it at that. A broke college student’s dream, nonetheless!

Nothing like Ho Chi !!! I liken it to Harold’s(Chicago). Affordable and very good. Dont get it twisted –its very hood, but I have been late at night by myself and didn’t have to much trouble. Look… the«element» is going to be around but if you want good chicken and wings for a good price this is your hole in the wall staple. Booshie Girl

After hearing the legend of HoCHi, I felt compelled to try their mumbo sauce. This place is for REAL… REALGHETTO that is. Not very big, has two tables but pleasant enough. Not as dirty as previously thought. Ordered four wings, fried rice and the Mix… came out to be $ 6.45. That’s a GREATDEAL by DC standards. The fried rice is standard, nothing to brag home about. The wings were big and juicy, but a bit on the salty side. The mumbo sauce and the mix drink is what balance the flavor though and they did not disappoint. Look, this joint ain’t no gourmet Chinese… it’s straight up ghetto. Hell, it sells cigarettes! How many Chinese carryout joints you know sell cigarettes? But it’s cheap and it hits the spot. The mumbo sauce and their home-made drink(the mix) are what make this place worthwhile. If you go to Howard, go here. With $ 7, you can go far with this place.

Honestly, this establishment needs to be shut down and boarded up. However, if that happens the men of Drew Hall will be greatly affected. They don’t really have any other options. Sorry guys, Georgia Ave have failed you. The facility is grimey and the food is… grimey. I don’t understand how anyone can crave it. The food is(cough) and is not worth the risk of being shot and robbed by locals for. Yeah, every night the HU police wire release information about students being robbed for their iphones and computers at gunpoint while waiting for their neanderthal sized wings to finish frying. You’re better off staying home with a pack of Top Ramen and corn chips. Not just because it’s dangerous, but because the food is a dissapointment as well.

Staple meal for Howard students, especially freshman boys being that it is right down the street from their dorm. Please do not go here expecting to get a gourmet meal. It’s a hole in the wall, and no it doesn’t look clean… I said it, and YES I still am giving it 4 stars! Although I’ve graduated, I still crave«HoChi» ever so often and have to make it over there to get some. My fried wings, french fries, side of mambo sauce, and lemonade, iced tea mix never disappoints! If you’re going here at night, please watch your back. I’ll leave you with that… But you will be more than satisfied after a night of drinking.

Okay I am going to be real here… I am a broke college student. Howard China is like a low scale McDonalds with Chinese food on the menu too. My freshman year at Howard, I ate here a lot. I am still alive so don’t be afraid to eat here. It is like a Howard staple to eat here at least once. Their mixes(crack tea)(tea and lemonade) are bomb! Plus they have mambo sauce and don’t skimp on the helpings. They sell candy, cigarette, and other little conveniences too. For those who have their nose in the air, don’t even bother– you will kill yourself in this place. Its not clean, no bathroom, hole in the floor with some food that will hit the spot late at night when everything else is closed and your wallet is full of lent. Howard China has saved me on many nights. If the décor is repulsive to you then just close your eyes and order. I mean people don’t come here to dine in and admire the pristine décor. C’mon SHEILACMON!(mad tv) However, you can admire, the misspelled words on the menu that always crack me up. A 3-star hole in the wall. lol
