the buffet was not heated. I think food has to be heated to a certain temperature, no? my friend felt a little queasy after eating the buffet. also, it kind of smells like a restroom.

Super nice service up front, but the place smells like a port-a-let and looks about as clean. I went in to check out the take-away buffet option, but it looked like the food had been sitting for a while and it also didn’t look particularly clean. I ended up ordering a gyro to go, and it was OK – a little bit of meat in a giant pita with lots of sauce, iceberg, and cucumber. I won’t return because of the obvious sanitation issues, but maybe you’d have better luck ordering from the menu.

This is truly a hidden gem. Order from the main menu and they know how to cook. The kitchen is really clean and I love the Bangladeshi style fish curry, chicken bhoona, and other off the menu stuffs.

The 2nd star is for the guy working at the front, he was very nice. Otherwise, this place was sooooooo sketch. I was the only one in there at 8pm Hoeven took about 15 minutes to make my food. No gloves worn, crap piled EVERYWHERE like someone’s office or living room, dirty, cluttered, just not good at all. Food was exactly what I expected… not good. Everything lacked salt. No flavor. Lamb kabob was obviously nuked in a microwave and was extremely dry and chewy. Just not a good decision. I feel sorry to wrote a review like this, but it was just not good

I found a large, dead fly in my food. Not even just on top, but like in the sauce. This was from the buffet/weigh type station. GROSS! It scarred me from eating at places like this and buffets. Don’t go here!

I can’t get enough of this place nor can I tell you how many times I’ve eaten here. I’ve always gotten the joojeh chicken which comes with about 6 bit pieces of delicious meat that has been marinating for a while on top of a massive pile of white rice. Plus the order comes with a side of bread and lots of sauce. Your food is served up pretty quickly and always tastes the same. I’ve been told that this is like the fast food version of kabobs but I don’t care. It tastes amazing. So good that I want to go right now from writing this review.

The buffet looked pretty solid until I took a bit into the tandori chicken and the leg was completely raw. I don’t mean that it just wasn’t cooked all the way through. The entire thing was raw. Can’t wait for the food poisoning to set in!

This review is part of a series of reviews as we attempt to discover the best Indian buffet in the DC area. House of Kabob was deserted when we arrived on a summer Sunday morning, but the buffet was hot and ready to go. This is decidedly a styrofoam and plastic silverware kind of place, but perhaps it is more authentic that way. There seemed to be an unsettlingly large number of staff prepping for some undoubtedly grand future event in the back that we would never meet. Instead, we were left to our own devices with unfettered access to the buffet and water cooler as some Bollywood film played overhead. While perhaps nice not to be judged for our repeated buffet visits, an opportunity to purchase a soft drink or a basket of naan would be nice. Buffet items were good quality, though perhaps somewhat limited and surprisingly most traditional mainstays were skipped(butter chicken seekers need not apply). Pakora and samosas on the buffet were a crowd pleaser, though the requisite mint and tamarind chutneys were nowhere to be found. The sub-$ 10 price tag garnered no complaints and seemed about right given the décor and selection. While the food shows promise, the devil is in the details. When the buffet serves just as a way to keep the front door unlocked so that you don’t have to serve your customers, you’re somewhat missing the point.

All you can eat lunch is decent if you’re in the mood for some great ethnic food! The food isnt piping hot because its served on a buffet, but again, it’s not too bad for $ 10. The cucumber salad could be a bit more flavorful but other than, its a good place to pig out if you’re mad starving during lunchtime.

Went here for lunch for the first time, and the food was pretty good. I ordered the buffet which had a decent selection of chicken and vegetable dishes flavored very nicely. I wouuld like to get fresh hot naan, but the naan in the tray wasn’t bad. Look forward to coming back and trying some of their kabob entrees. I enjoyed the spicy house hot sauce they have sitting on the tables.

I dropped in for lunch when my trip to the cupcake place next door failed(they are ALWAYS closed when I come! Do they not want my money?) I got a gyro, which was lovely. It was made on naan, with huge chunks of meat. Unwieldy, but oh so good. I also got a Greek salad, which was kind of basic but fine. It’s good to know that there’s another Greek option when it’s too late for The Greek Deli and I don’t feel like schlepping to the north side of the circle for Zorba’s.

The Worst Place ever, My Chicken was still red in the middle, they barely speak English so they did not understand what I was trying to explain to them. The rice was hard, I actually say the employee pick the rice up with his hand that landed off the side off the side of the steam table and throw it back in with the rest. ugggh I will never eat from here again it is not worth the 10 $. I few blocks up there is Moby Dicks house of Kabob Best place ever!!!

Had the lamb kabob for lunch today. Pretty good. Could have used a larger portion of meat. Bell peppers were cut so large eating it like a taco was out of the question. A bit messy. Glad I grabbed a knife and fork. Flavors were wonderful. Lamb was seasoned just right. And the house hot sauce did not pull any punches. They also had a root beer made with honey which was yum. I will be returning.

This place sure is sketchy. It’s very cramped, small & doesn’t look too clean. It’s also so cheap for a DC place that I was wondering what I was eating all along lol. For $ 6+, you can get yourself a kabob with rice, which’s pretty amazing. Most places will easily charge you 10 bucks for the same thing. They also have all-you-can-eat buffet($ 8.50) — 2 meat dishes, 5 veggie dishes, some appetizers(samosa, pakora, etc) & rice. The beef curry in there’s horrible; it’s so bland. The chicken’s extremely tiny that I started wondering if they’re real chicken lol… The veggies’re actually pretty good; I mostly just kept coming back for them. Just as I was gonna give this place a 3 stars, there’s a small, sharp bone within their rice or veggies. It’s stuck in my throat and started stratching to the point that my throat’s extremely irritated… Conclusion: I honestly don’t want to give this place a 2 stars since the people’re so nice. But in here, you get what you pay for lol… Extremely cheap, decent food but questionable.

Cheap, tasty, and quick. Not exactly a place to sit-and-eat, but worth dropping by if you’re hungry and in the area.
