Awesome hotel option in the Navy Yard area. This is a new arrival to the Navy Yard area which is still undergoing an insane amount of construction. Conveniently enough, the rooms were pretty sound proofed and we only heard the construction upon exiting the hotel(though there was construction only taking place on the Saturday that I stayed there — no construction on the Sunday). It’s a standard Hampton Inn Hotel with a bit of the modern treatment. Our king sized bed was on the firm side but the room was clean and tastefully decorated in a modern motif. Our bath room was modern glammed out with only a large shower(no tub) and sliding glass doors ala barn doors. Free wifi and breakfast(including those delicious waffles) are included. This hotel is, as of this review, the only standing building on the block. There is construction happening on all sides of the hotel including across the street and on adjacent blocks. I believe that is why the pricing is so competitive(under $ 100 a night). This will almost definitely go up once the construction is completed and when Nationals season begins. The roof deck is AWESOME. You can see all of DC including inside Nat’s stadium. I suspect lots of parties and gatherings will occur there — you could even watch the whole game from there and never set foot into the stadium. The biggest drawback is lack of parking options. There is practically no street parking. Most of the street parking I found was pay to park street parking. While you can get away with some overnight parking after 10pm, the meters start at 7am so if you don’t have an early start you’ll have to come out and feed the meters. Hampton Inn does offer a valet option FOR $ 43 A NIGHT which is unacceptable to me(I wound up finding a single block unregulated set of spaces on Eye street between NJ and 2nd St SE). There are also some public lots and garages, though I don’t know their availability and pricing. Bonus: the Hampton Inn Navy Yard is ONEBLOCK from the Navy Yard Green Line Metro Subway stop. So overall, new hotel, appointed tastefully modern, accessible to Metro, incredible views on top and roof floors, free wifi and breakfast, and relatively inexpensive pricing(while during neighborhood construction and pre-Nationals season) means this is a win-win-win-win(and temporary win for temporarily depressed pricing). Take advantage while it lasts. After that, take advantage anyway for its location, location, location.
