We saw the so so review but still came because we did not find many good Chinese restaurant choices, I meant good ones.

Alien went there for dinner. Foods are great, but they are a bit pricey. The table Alien sat smelled like mothballs, which decreased Alien’s appetite. Alien liked their shrimp fried rice. A lot of shrimps were in in! Sweet Sour Rib Hong Kong Style was also yummy. Ribs were juicy and crispy.

This review is for a dining experience a couple of years ago. I will be updating this a couple of weeks from now when I dine there again. Walking by, I’m not sure I would ever select this place to eat at. It is old fashioned, sparse, a bit disheveled but clean. Only if you are up for«authentic» and low-key would you try it. I am that way, as was my friend who dined with me. So we ordered various fish and vegetarian dishes to split. Every single item was delicious, came to us quickly. Service was friendly and efficient. Excellent quality.

I went here and got the wonton noodle soup, hk style, it was about $ 8 and was good, to get veggies and other extras there would be an additional charge. Compared to the other restaurants in Chinatown it was more reasonably priced and the soup I got was worth it. The service was good, though the waitresses didn’t speak much English.

For a place in the middle of china town I found this incredibly average. Bad service. Smelly dining hall(like rotten fish) and simply average food compared to other China towns like philly or New York

Went there for lunch after we got off the bus from Philly. Very warm service and good Wonton noodle soup. The restaurant is very clean.

Great local/authentic place to eat, make sure if your not experienced in the Chinese cuisine you order by the Unilocal photographs, the shrimp stuffed duck is excellent!!! And egg rolls are very larger too!!!

A local DC resident recommend the place. She said it look like a dive from the outside but it’s worth going inside. I got to say the best Chinese food I’ve had in DC to date. The HK Wonton soup with noodles is awesome. So are the chicken and broccoli dishes. I’ll be a regular for sure#

Highlight: if you don’t leave at least 15% tip for mediocre food and service, your waitress will call you out for it in the middle of the restaurant! Food: Mediocre… The chinatown in DC really isn’t that great, and really is put to shame by the ones of sf, nyc. Very oily food. When you get a fried dish, most of the food is batter, and not meat or vegetable. When I was there, the tea was lukewarm, not hot like usual. There was a red lipstick mark on my clear glass… Gross. Ambiance: When you go in, it just feels like they never air the place out. Smells heavily like moth balls. You can tell that they need a heavy scrubbing because the menus and tables have an oily feel. Service: average… nothing to rave about. As many others Unilocalers have mentioned, the waitress(probably around 40s, light skin, skinny) asked for additional tip in front of a crowded restaurant, which was very embarrassing!!! I left a few bucks, and thought it was sufficient for ‘whatever’ service and sitting in a moth ball nest. I couldn’t really understand, but she kept saying ‘more’. I calculated it out, and i left a 14% tip. I told her no. She grabbed the receipt and ran to the back. I could have argued with her in Chinese, but didn’t want to disrupt anymore. As a server, you gotta with the fact that most people don’t actually calculate tip… We eyeball it. Will never be back.

Chinese food here was so unimpressive. Their wonton noodle soup is very bland. The key to a good noodle soup is the actual soup. The preserved egg congee was ok. Not that great. I’ve had much better. The prices here are a bit high, especially for what they are serving. The portions are fine, but it doesn’t really make up for the price. Food came out quick. That was about the only positive.

It took me nearly 3 years of living in Chinatown to actually try Full Kee. This unassuming restaurant is located on 5th and H in the heart of Chinatown. Full Kee offers an extensive selection at reasonable prices. Between the frog legs, eggplant, black mushroom, and wonton noods you really cannot go wrong. They also offered some delicious duck. Service was quick and friendly with a brief explanation of each dish. Full Kee is good for groups or for those looking to grab decent Chinese at a reasonable price.

One of the last and best authentic Chinatown places left to eat. Always get the egg noodle dumpling soup for lunch. Other menu items are good not great. The soup is amazing hands down best in the city.

Open till 2 so you can go salsa dancing at Lucky Strike and get your drunk munchies on here after when you are attracted to the«open sign» and ask your designated drier to drop you off on the street so you can quench the Chinese food craving you didn’t know you had. I would come back for sure. If you order stuff like fried rice it’s pretty reasonably priced and well portioned, but I’ll agree with another reviewer that it could use a bit more seasoning.

My husband wanted Chinese food from Chinatown. A surprisingly tall order! We heard good things about Full Kee, so decided to stop there for our dinner. I ordered a soup/noodle bowl and he had some sort of beef and pepper dish. Waited a little longer than expected for a restaurant so empty, but the food tasted fine enough. The waitress, who we saw literally three times(to take our order, to bring our food, and to leave the check) came to our table as we were leaving, shoved the credit card receipt back in my face, and told us we had to give more money! Since we saw her only 3 times, I tipped 12%, which came to be a tip of something like $ 4. I understand the plight of the food service workers, but she was distant the entire night. She demanded 15%, so I scrambled around for a few dollar bills and threw them on the table. No thank you or explanation from her; she just put the credit card receipt in her pocket and then grabbed the extra money and walked away. I was left utterly shocked! There’s one thing to their credit: the portions were sizeable, and we did have leftovers to take home for a late night snack. Otherwise, not worth the time and money

Overpriced and«meh no thank you I won’t come again» Chinese food. I ordered the Peking duck. The duck was so dry it had absolutely no taste. Cracked bones mixed with dry duck meat is what I got on my plate. Not $ 20 worth for that plate. The walnut chicken was OK but too overpriced for what you are getting. Regular not giant shrimp and you’ll be getting more broccoli than shrimp. I guess is makes the portion look bigger.

Best Chinese food in Chinatown. Went here with a friend, late at night, the chefs from the other Chinese restaurants were coming here to eat! My favorite dishes are the soups and the eggplant. Not much atmosphere, service was okay. Got a super hot pot of tea at no charge, did get charged for extra rice to go with the huge entrée portions. If you want to eat Chinese food in Chinatown, this is some of the best, lot of the other restaurants are mediocre, this is the only one I go back to voluntarily. Note that they do serve beer, but not mixed drinks, had some friends that were going to join us that wanted various drinks and that was a deal breaker for them. The Americanized dishes are just okay, you want to order the more Chinese style dishes here to see it really shine.

3.5 Stars overall, rounding it up to 4.0. My friends enjoyed their entrees, as did I. The minced beef congee was very tasty. Main complaint with it is that it’s a bit thicker than what it should be – smooth and creamy like in texture, not thick and clumpy. The Chinese donut, which was ordered separately, and is a side normally eaten with congee, was good. It’s just that it’s not fresh, which I don’t expect in this Chinatown where certain dishes may not be ordered as much as the more common favorites such as orange chicken or Mongolian beef. The seafood chow mein with crispy noodles is pretty legit. Good amount of seafood, and nice crispy outer layers of the chow mein egg noodles, without being too greasy. At $ 15, it seemed pricey, but I had so much left over, that it was like eating 2 orders of chow mein. Though my friends enjoyed their dishes, I found the roast duck to be an issue. It looked as if it has been marinated in soy sauce as the color of the skin was dark, and not a bright dark orange shade. The roast duck my friend received also did not look fresh. Possibly a reheat? Service was good as they were willing to do separate checks for each of us, and there were 8 of us in the party, and they were quite attentive about changing plates, providing iced water and refilling the tea pot. However, I do tend to wonder if service would have been the same had I not been Chinese, nor were able to speak to the staff in both Cantonese and Toishanese?

I ate here three times in the past five years and always had the same dish, wanton noodle Hong Kong Style Noodle soup. It was recommended by a friend in 2009 and I try to come here for this noodle soup every time I am in town. All three times, the food was consistent and good. It’s so simple yet tasty. Good for lunch or late night snack after drinking. Service and ambiance is not at its best but that’s just fine. They always talk to me in Chinese for some reasons. They get busy during peak lunch hour but the food comes quick. If I come here more often, I would try other dishes but for now, I will keep coming for my noodle soup.

I went with a group of 8 at midnight. The place was empty but we had all been working and were starving. Another large group of Asian descent came in after we ordered and somehow they got all their food before us. The waitress also seemed to be generally put off by our presence. The place was last decorated in the late 70’s. Mauve tables and even a Nutone wall mount CD player on the back wall. I had kung pao chicken. It had too many peanuts in it. The sauce was really good though. Everyone elses food looked really good, tasted good, and seemed of decent quality. All of us traded each others main courses. I’m on day two of recovery from food poisoning. Three of us got it. Unfortunately we couldn’t figure out which dish it was. Needless to say I won’t be back. They don’t accept AMEX.

HK style wonton noodle soup with BBQ pork here is legit. Came here on a chilly DC morning and the soup was perfect to warm me up at a great price. We ordered a side of fried dumplings that were good but nothing special. Service is fast and efficient.
