I love Follain — I used to live in Boston(where there are 2 Follain stores) and was thrilled to see that Follain has a pop-up store in DC. I am happy to see that the the DC is just as good as the ones in MA. The women who helped me answered all my questions and were as enthusiastic and interested in ingredients as I am. Love! Once I save up more money(hello May Lindstrom!) I will be back.

I’m a big fan of the thought of natural deodorants, but after a few failed experiments with a few different brands I decided I’d rather pump my body full of toxins than be ostracized as a smelly foreign person. Enter Follain, they introduced me to my new favorite brand of all natural deodorant Meow Meow Tweet Tweet. Not only is it baking soda free(cus I’ve literally been burned by the ingredient before) but it smells heavenly AND it actually works. I’ve been using it for the past scorching summer days we’ve been having without any incident. The best part is there is no high mark up on the product like I’ve seen when looking at the brand online. This is a pop-up shop based on a larger store in Boston but they sell a lot of all natural moisturizers, body washes, face masks, makeup, and baby care items. The sales people are super knowledgeable and friendly and everything is organized in a pleasing way. Thank you Follain from saving me from myself!

Follain looks pretty, smells pretty and sounds pretty. So pretty you can barely detect the massive amounts of BS they are selling you. Their sales reps sound very knowledgeable, but have simply been prepped well to rattle on about the horrors of chemicals. For example, one sales girl warned me about products with a water base because additional chemicals had to be added to ensure they stayed bacteria free. She then tried to sell me a product where water was the second ingredient. When I told her I used petroleum jelly on my lips, she reacted as though I was smearing bug guts on my face. A little research when I got home reveled there is nothing wrong with putting petroleum jelly on your lips. I was also looking at concealer. As one sales girl was about to use a sample on me the other sales girl stopped her– they were out of that shade. The girl proceeds to use a wrong shade on me, instead of using the right shade and encourage me to come back. This place is crazy expensive. The samples I bought(toner and concealer) did nothing to improve my skin. ANDYOUCAN’T RETUNANYTHING! NEVER again.

I stopped by this stand in the Union Market the other day to check out a few items. I’ve been wanting to use more natural items in my everyday beauty routine but haven’t been able to find products that live up their more chemically minded partners. Follain is fabulous though. I came away with two new products, their combat balm to cure some long lingering soriasis and their lavendar scented all natural deodorant. Both have worked perfectly within the last four days I’ve used them. I also asked for advice on a face mask I could do once or twice a week in the lead up to my wedding to clarify my skin and clear my pores out. The staff member showed me something called«Problem Solver» which was $ 90. I was hesitant with such a big price tag, so she offered to give me a sample so I could take it home and try it. I did, and I’m going back asap to buy it. Made my skin feel amazing. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for products which are naturally based, but actually work!

As a new mommy, I’ve been trying to reduce our plastic and packing consumption, eliminate toxic chemicals, and fill our home with beautiful things. Follain helped me accomplish all three things! They offer refillable glass dispenser full of their lavender hand soap for $ 24. When I bring it back, they refill it for only $ 8. After your fifth bottle, I believe you get a refill for free. The scent is lovely. I can’t wait to continue bringing my bottles back to be filled. I hope they start the same thing for their other beauty supplies like shampoo. #zeroimpacthome
