The food was disgusting. The«catfish» thats what the called it was a piece of blonde fried frozen fish. The Crab cake tasted and looked and tasted like a salty over parselyed fried tuna fish ball. When there August 10,2015. Do not eat there.

I hadn’t eaten at Evans Brothers for years and after eating there tonight, I remembered why. It’s not very good. We split the following: — crab cake — not great flavor, fair amount of filler — fried scallops — I hadn’t realized these were breaded and fried rather than sauteed. They were fine but I didn’t love them. — corn pudding — best part of the entire meal! This is the only thing I’d order here again. — mac and cheese –edible but not much flavor. — shrimp tacos — these had a fair amount of mayonaise. Why?! Disgusting. They would have been decent if there were no mayo. The other downside is that there is so much strofoam and so much individually wrapped everything. The only thing that will bring me back to Evans Brothers is the corn pudding.

I go there for lunch occasionally and I am pleased with the food. They have a lot of fried options which I try to stay away from and order the grilled tilapia on a roll. The fish is delicious and they bake the rolls there so they are fresh. I have tried other stalls at the market and prefer this one.

From what I remember as a kid, the adult in me was pleased with the delivery. This is a busy, bustling place. The good ol wharf is being rebuilt. Properly. Onto the food, I got the crab ball platter. With mac-n-cheese, and slaw. The size of the crab balls is about 8 in the platter. Nice size for each. Well fried to order very tasty. The hours are not late. So get while the getting is good.

I had the fried scallops and oyster platter with two sides(Onion rings and French fried). It was a very large order and the food was good. No problems. I would come back again.

I never like to write bad reviews, but after what we just experienced I feel a personal obligation to share with others. Very poor quality seafood that looks as if many items actually came from frozen bags in the back. I got the seafood combo and found nothing tasted fresh. The side items which were sparring to begin with tasted awful. No need to go into any more detail. Between my friend and I this place is a must to stay away from. You have been warned!

A touch expensive, but on par for the fish market. Tasty food that says authentic. Surprising variety in their menu which I have not yet explored.

Their crabcake is amazing. That seems like real crab stuff inside. And not expensive, 1 crabcake is $ 6.60. You can not miss it ! The staff their is very kind and passionate.

There’s free cake?! No wonder everybody had a slice except me. There are many seafood stalls at the SW Wharf so was difficult to choose one over another. The choice was purely on whim. In hindsight, I should have been more careful. I ordered the typical seafood combination platter($ 12.95) where you get seafood items(crab cake or fried scallops or fish fillet or something else) with two side items(hush puppies or cole slaw or something else). I scallops were slightly raw and the hush puppies very dry. The biggest problem was that the crab cake was stringy. Crab meat shouldn’t look like silly string. In the end, I felt somewhat sick from eating here — probably from the grease and salt — so I’d recommend eating elsewhere first before trying Evans Brothers Seafood. I suppose a review about seafood restaurants would be more helpful if it focused on the seafood instead of free cakes. [Original Visit: June 24, 2010]

Located at the Maine Avenue fish market, Evans Brothers Seafood is not to be missed. And how could you? They have a dessert window where they are constantly putting out sample slices of their delicious cakes and pies. I have sampled the vanilla cake with strawberries, chocolate cake, cheesecake and pecan pie cheesecake. The vanilla and chocolate cakes while tasty were a bit dry. The ultimate cake is the banana cake with cream cheese frosting. The layers have slices of banana in between. The cake is huge and for $ 25, well-priced. The slices they give out are ample enough that you really don’t need anything else but it’s just so good you gotta take one home. We were cake tasting beasts that day. Delicious!
