A market with a decent selection of sandwiches to choose from. There’s some outdoor seating if you’re impatient like me and can’t wait to get home or wherever to eat your food.

Great sandwiches to go. Make up your mind quick, though. Can get busy. Inexpensive. Fairly friendly staff.

Dupont Market is a tiny(I was actually in someone’s way the entire time) deli with a decently sized sandwich menu. There was some seating outside, but this too felt a little cramped. All the tables were for two people and given the size of the place, I would likely only come here with one or two people. I had the Humberto, which I actually really liked. I would go back for another if I was looking for something quick, but probably wouldn’t plan on eating there.

Great food served here! It’s small, but they are great. Fresh made food — ahh. I asked for a piece of pizza, there were two of us, and they actually gave us a second piece for free saying that we would both like one whether we knew or not — he was right! Walk here, get what you need, and leave. They don’t have everything, but milk, coffee, beer, snacks, sandwiches, fresh pizza, etc. What more do you need when you need it fast. Oh yeah, and pastries too!

Grumpy service. Watery coffee. Interesting window display of packing boxed BUT only place in the neighborhood where you can get a breakfast burrito and bagels before 10am. The food is pretty good.

Quirky service, but pretty tasty breakfast sandwiches in a neighborhood oddly lacking of such things. Coffee is quite bland, but the food is reliably good, simple, fresh. The real head scratcher about this place is the window displays. I am no marketing expert, but I would think that a tasteful, organized display would be good for business? Doesn’t really matter to me though, as long as they keep dishing out awesome breakfast burritos.

It’s a bizarre little place and not at all what you expect in the DuPont area. It reminds me of those tiny middle eastern markets in Chicago who don’t care about the superficial look of the store and simply put out good products. This is what this place is about, sort of. You walk in and there are awkward shelves of items. Some items labeled with price, some not. No particular order but definitely an attempt is made to organize. Then there is the awkward teenage looking girl behind the counter who is either staring at you or looking elsewhere. No one greets you. No one says a word. I stood in front of the register and finally the girl asked if I needed help and I said i wanted to order sandwiches so she points to her right where a young Latino looking man is standing. You try to make out the different options on the wall and ask him. FYI they use pickled jalapeños and not the fresh kind. The food was decent. The bread is fresh. The veggies also fresh. The meat not so good. The bakery items were decent as well. All in all an average experience. I was a bit nervous when two of the employees were clowning around(sort of) while they were trying to pull a large serrated knife from the other because each one wanted to do the cutting. I just kept waiting for the knife to go up in the air. Scary. It’s not a very clean looking store and it’s not neat. There are flat boxes on the ground. My husband has always liked this place but this was my first time here. He has bought bread and chicken salad from here. I never imagined this is what it looked like. I would have taken more pictures but it was such a small and awkward place.

My husband and I have made a 2016 resolution to not go back to Dupont Market. We have been going every weekend(sometimes twice a weekend) for about a year now and the horrendous customer service is astounding. I could go on forever with examples… Once the terribly written white board menu was down so I asked if they had a menu and they just said«No.» They didn’t offer up any alternative as if they were begging me to leave. so I did. Another time my husband tried to order a more expensive item that requires the grill and a woman barked at him saying they have too much stuff on the grill and had him pick something else. All of this terrible service PLUS being incredibly overpriced. It seems like the sandwiches have gotten smaller over the months. In New York, I can get 4 bagels with bacon egg and cheese for $ 10. At the Dupont Market I can get one bagel with bacon egg and cheese and a drink for $ 8. Something doesn’t add up. We’ve never greeted these people with anything less than a smile and all we get in return is an incredibly snippy attitude and absolutely no acknowledgement of our loyalty as customers. we never leave feeling satisfied with the service and lately the food hasn’t even been able to make up for it. So goodbye Dupont Market, hopefully others will wise up soon too.

Amazing sandwiches, especially for a tucked-away hole in the wall. Get an Italian hoagie and split it with a loved one(especially if he or she gets turkey) and then also pick up some wine if you’re in the mood. Love this place!

Best Lox Bagel in town! They load it up, unlike many other places in DC that just give you a few slices. Love these guys. Have been coming here for 11 years! y

This place is nothing. I was staying nearby and was hopping to pick up a few grocery items. this place has nothing. It is dark and very small. Don’t waste your time.

This place is perfect for a sandwich(especially breakfast!), coffee and quick recipe essentials(spices, oils, etc). The wine selection is also pretty good and the staff are knowledgable on which would go best with your dinner. I highly recommended grabbing a homemade hummus or other prepared spread in the refrigerator next to the cash register, each one I’ve tried is delicious!

Great sandwiches. Fun outdoor seating. Good wine selection. And other goodies. Just needs to be tidied up to get 5 stars — impossible to bring kids inside as is.

Happened to be in the neighborhood, and stopped in to pick up something crunchy. Despite the price($ 4.25; should have been $ 3 something) I settled on a box of crackers. Brought it home and discovered the sell-by date was in March.(It’s now August.) When I called, they were quite apologetic, and told me to come in for a refund. But it’s not worth making the trip for that amount of money. Anyway, to people who frequent the place for more than sandwiches — check the date on what you buy. It’s nice to support a small convenience store, and I’m sure they have inventory control issues, but still…

Just went here for the first time and got the Italian. I’ve lived around the corner for 10 months and am now wondering what I’ve been doing the past 10 months of my life. $ 5 minimum on credit cards. 4 stars only because so far, I’ve only tried one thing but will update as soon as I try more menu items and confirm that all sandwiches are damn good like this one is.

Stopped by for a sandwich on my way out of the city and was surprised by the quality of the food! I ordered the feta sandwich(#6) with avocado… delicious…AND another person in the store had coincidentally ordered the exact same sandwich so you KNOW it was good ;)

Stopped in here for a late lunch. Such a small little hole in the wall but they make some good sandwiches. We got a number 18 and a number 31. Forgot the names but they were both delicious. They also make a jalapeño feta spread/dip that was sitting out for sampling and wow, I’m gonna try to copy that recipe back home. Also got some decent organic beer.

I got an artichoke sandwich and it was excellent. They have a lot of sandwich options, but you wouldn’t know it looking from the outside. I hope to go here and try some more sandwiches in the future. Prices are reasonable from about $ 5-$ 9 per sandwich and they probably have 20 different and unique sandwiches to choose from. They have a small selection of cooking items/food/chocolate, etc, but it was mainly things you can get in most grocery stores. It is very small and crammed inside, but they do have some outdoor seating to eat. hint, they have a hard to read large sandwich list behind the counter, but on the front of the counter they have an easier to read printed version.

Guys, you’ve been here for years and I’ve gotta say… Do something about your coffee!!! Please! You make us walk blocks to get it at Filter or Glen’s just because it’s so… no bueno! I’m a coffee freak just like a lot of Dupont area residents and you would make some extra $$ if you did smth about that weird coffee taste. Tasted old every time. And I CAN see that you make it fresh! So it’s a mystery:) change a coffee maker or coffee brand. And its not just me. My friend grabbed a sandwich & a cup of coffee. I promised good sandwich and crappy coffee. Well, now he trusts me and listens all the time:) that’s a good thing, right?:) And your guys wanted to charge me $ 6 for coconut chips that I buy for $ 0.99 next to my apartment:((there was no price tag so they came up with $ 6:( But the sandwiches are yum!

Dupont Market is truly a hidden gem of a sandwich shop /market. It is set up like a small grocery store with some imported items like jams and European candies. If you are in the mood for a quick but delicious bite, I recommend stopping at the sandwich counter. The staff is very friendly. I ordered the Humberto — turkey, avocado, sprouts, cheese, a squeeze of fresh lemon on ciabatta bread. I can’t remember the exact price but I would say it was around $ 8. Definitely great quality for a great price.

When you pass by this place you wouldn’t expect them to make a mean sandwich, but I’ll be honest they do! And boy is it filling. My friend and I each got our own and at the end of our lunch hour we felt like we could just fall into a food coma. This place is definitely a hole-in-the-wall kind of joint. From the outside looking in, it doesn’t look like much and even when you’re inside there’s no seats and it’s literally a market where you can grab chips, soda, and whatever but to the right of the market is the sandwich menu and where you order/pay! There’s so many choices, you possibly can’t go wrong! So if you’re tired of the same ol’ same ol’ and want to try something new, head over and grab yourself a sandwich from DuPont Market! They’re not the best sandwiches eveeeer(or really in the DMV area because there are SO many sandwich joints around) but they get the job done, are very filling, and have many different choices!

So I’ve been a very regular customer of Dupont Market for a while now, but the customer and food service quality has increasingly gone down the last year or so. I wasn’t going to post a review, but today was my last straw. First of all when you walk into the store, no one employee greets you. One time it took up to 10 minutes of me trying to flag the cook down to let her know that I was ready to order. Second of all, I consistently see the cooks not wearing gloves– that’s actually the first red flag! So the last couple of times of ordering their breakfast burrito me AND my husband have gotten sick. Only today did we realize that immediately after eating the burrito we both felt terrible, and we came to the conclusion that it was what caused us to be sick 2 other times. Dupont Market is one of those«hole in the wall» places where you take your chances. It looks a little sketchy and dirty, and after looking around I’ve found lots of the products on their shelves to be expired. The food is good, don’t get me wrong, but considering the high prices that Dupont Market charges, I don’t expect to get sick each time I visit.

It was just Christmas and I’m sitting outside in a tshirt eating the turkey feta jalapeño wrap. Fresh, not too hot, feels healthy. Pleasant quiet corner. Randomly picked up fig preserves, store portion has perfect picnic supplies. Only 4 stars because I wish they had those tiny Ben and Jerry’s. Definitely jog by.

I arrived an hour before closing on Sunday evening. After spending 5 minutes trying to decide which of about 30 sandwiches available on the menu to choose, I was told that it wasn’t available because«that grill is busy grilling chicken.» Same thing happened two more times before the guy finally gave me the number of a sandwich that he could make. It was pretty good, but it sure didn’t make up for the strange ordering experience.

Super disappointing… If I had written this review 3 – 4 years ago, it would have been four or five stars. I used to love their sandwiches, their eclectic variety of household items, cheese, wine, beer, and snacks. But going there this past Saturday made me wonder if the ownership has changed hands, or perhaps they have grown comfortable with regular customers. In any case, the variety of food and alcohol was much smaller than I had hoped, with more mainstream brands that I can get anywhere(as opposed to specialty items). The sandwich board was so far away from the counter that I couldn’t read it well, but that ultimately didn’t matter, as not one of the five people who were working there actually asked for my order. Three stood blocking one of the aisles, arguing literally the entire time I was in there, and the other two were futzing around behind the counter. I was so confused and flustered and disappointed that after waiting for a few minutes, I took the bottle of wine my boyfriend was holding, put it on the counter, paid for it(they noticed when I put something on the counter), and left, still hungry. I don’t think I’ll be back…

I have heard lots of fanfare about Dupont market, and the Unilocal reviews are good… so my experience there was disappointing. I went in for lunch and was excited to try one of their sandwiches. I got a reuben, which was overpriced and disappointing. I felt kinda dumb paying 9 bucks for such a small and poorly-piled sandwich.(Also, instead of laying out corned beef and melting cheese on top, they cooked it like a cheese steak, chopping and mixing it all together, which was unusual, incorrect, and allowed them to use even less meat.) The space is not well kept, which is not a huge problem, since it’s just a simple convenience store. Kinda strange that, when they cook, smoke fills the store. I’ve got no reason to come back: too many good options within a couple blocks that are better, bigger, and cheaper.
