I have a couple of chronic health conditions that require special attention and referrals to specialists so I need a doctor who is on the ball, compassionate, intelligent and a good communicator. That describes Dr Dunn. He does what an internist should do — spends time with you, discusses your condition and gives good recommendations. He sends a detailed follow-up letter after every annual check-up and his office staff is pleasant and very competent. I highly recommend him. One drawback: He is the only doctor I see who does not take insurance, so the treatment is expensive. Reimbursement from insurance is a fraction of the cost. I think he and his partners are able to run the office so well and give patients the time and attention they deserve because they don’t have to deal with the paperwork and the red tape, so they can focus on patient care.

Dr. Dunn is a wonderful internal medicine doc. I went to him for a general check-up when I first moved to DC several years ago. He took his time to review my entire medical history, gave me a complete check-up, then sat down in his office with me to discuss everything I needed to know. He then sent me a follow-up letter with a summary of our conversation and all my test results. Since then, every time I’ve needed an appointment, his office has been able to get me in with him or his physician’s assistant(who is also wonderful) within a day or two. I’ve also never waited more than 15 minutes in his office for the appointment to start. The only drawback is that he doesn’t take insurance, but it’s absolutely worth it to have a good doctor on call.
