This review is for the newly opened Dacha Market! As a neighbor, I am in LOVE with this tiny little market. I stopped in early saturday morning, not feeling very hot from the night before, and got an AMAZING bagel sandwich. Plain bullfrog bagel, egg, cheese, and the most glorious bacon Ive ever laid my lips on! Maybe this is my hangover speaking! I love that I can get a good breakfast sandwich on the go in the hood, and I cant wait to stop by to pick up some bagels or some prepared food! Bravo Dacha for filling a gap in the neighborhood.

I really want to like this place since it does have a great atmosphere and I love the whole idea of an outdoor beer garden in the trendy Shaw neighborhood but the food is very hit or miss and the customer service is pretty terrible. When you ask about Happy Hour, the bartenders start talking about the spotlight beers, not telling you that these are twice as much — so that’s $ 10 for what’s like less than a bottle of beer. So, thinking that I’d run up a tab of $ 10, I found out that my bill was $ 20 even though I asked specifically about Happy Hour specials. Paying too much is a theme at this place. The pretzel isn’t terrible but it’s not even as good as pretzels I’ve had on the streets of NYC and it’s 3x as much. I had the Pork Schnitzel Strips, which were recommended by the bartender, and it stands out in my mind as one of the most tasteless and overpriced things I’ve ever ordered, like in my life. Honestly, I’ve microwaved stuff from the vending machine that tastes better. Also, I’ve had to seek out the food I ordered on two separate occasions. The food is supposed to come through the window from the kitchen in a few minutes but good luck if that happens for you. I had to repeatedly ask where my food was and hunt it down. Very lame — especially considering what you’re paying at this place. Also, the boot of beer idea is kinda fun but the stupid mug makes a gurgling noise every time you drink from it because of the air bubbles that form in the heel of the«boot» so people sitting around you just stare and look at you as if the noise is annoying them. On the plus side, their selection of beers is very good. For example, I tried some mead(honey wine that’s sort of like beer) that was really impressive. Also, their Happy Hour sliders aren’t bad, even though they look nothing like the picture they have of «sliders» and don’t resemble any sliders I’ve ever had. So, overall, if you don’t mind hunting down overpriced food and getting bad customer service but really like beer — even when it’s not cheap — this might be your place to sit outside and relax, but Dacha is not high on my list. This place could be so much more if they’d actually get decent management and decent food but it’s not there now.

Definitely one of the best places to grab beers with friends outside in Washington, D.C. Dacha looks, feels, and operates like an authentic German beer garden. I haven’t ordered any of the food, but saw plates brought out for other tables and it all looked delicious. When the weather is nice, this place gets packed but there is always plenty of room to move around. Mgmt does a good job of restricting the number of people allowed inside.

It has beer, it has German food, it has lederhosen. What’s not to love. If you’re into German lagers and hefes this will become your new favorite spot. If you like things a little darker they serve those too; handful of local craft beers were being poured along side bottomless mimosas. Seriously, this place rocks. It gets pretty busy from what I noticed on my two visits but since it’s outdoors it doesn’t feel crowded. Come here for a beer and a bite before moving on with your night, hell you could easily make its place your entire evening if you have a couple of boots. By the way, coolest restrooms for dudes. Every urinal has a sink, soap, and hand dryer.

We didn’t love this place. It was extremely crowded, the bartenders didn’t care to help me so i had to ask my guy friend to order us beers. Their selection wasn’t even great. With all the German beer houses popping up, this one was my least favorite. We came here early in the night and the line was so long so we went to another bar. We came back and it was still packed. There was no ambiance, no music, nothing. Just a bunch of people yelling at each other across the fence. We went to the city specifically for this bar and were let down. Womp womp.

Great atmosphere, good selection of beer and staff with a lot of knowledge of their beer. The food was good but early fall is not the best time to let your food sit. You better eat it as fast as you can. I hope to check this place out again in the summer and enjoy the food better.

I came to check out Dacha Beer Garden for a private event. This place seems to be a favorite neighborhood hangout spot that offers German, Belgian, and American craft beers with wines, meads, ciders, and even brunch, HH, and dinner options. My favorite bites were the Kartoffellpuffer(gluten-free fried potato pancakes, topped with a red onion caraway marmalade and lemon peppercorn dressing — scrumptious!) and the Spicy Thuringer(delicious pork sausage with a great color and snap!). The bartenders are all super friendly and super sweet and are more than happy to help you with your selections. Don’t forget to ask for Rafi, as he is quite impressive with his knowledge on everything beer-related! Bonus points that the patio is dog-friendly and smoke-free :D On a beautiful day, you can enjoy drinking and dining al fresco(but, just make sure you put some citronella on yourself as the mosquitoes will attack!). +ask for Rafi: D +German, Belgian, and American craft beers offered +Kartoffellpuffer +Spicy Thuringer +free 2-hour parking on Q or 8th +dog-friendly! +smoke-free!

I went to Dacha recently for an Oktoberfest private event and I LOVED it! What an awesome place! The space is simply lovely, the bright blue wall covered with flowers in the back of the lot is so nice and puts you in an immediate good mood when you see it and take a seat near it. The staff was very friendly, and the beer, well, delicious! They have some very tasty ones! Can’t quite remember the names, though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The place got suuuper crowded(as others have mentioned, this beer garden gets packed) and had a line around the block by 7 pm(I was there a couple of hours prior, don’t judge), and it didn’t look like fun to wait in that long line, but whatevs. This beer garden has a very cool vibe and who doesn’t love that mural?! I’ll definitely be going back!

This is a cute and romantically whimsical spot. The walls of the bar are lined up with rows of beer rails. They have literally any beer profile you are in search for. The bartenders are super helpful in helping you find what you want to drink. It is seriously beer heaven. I literally feel like I’m in a bar in Germany. The vibe is uplifting and romantic. The roof is lined with beautiful glimmering lights. This is such a cute place for a first date. It’s laid back enough yet at the same time has that romantic edge. The servers are friendly and very helpful. It’s a positive place to eat and drink at.

Very popular and fun place! The location is kind of random since it’s surrounded by residential areas but it was quite popping on a Friday night. It was packed when we got there around 7pm but there was no line to get in. Seating was kind of free-for-all but we stalked the tables and were able to find seats pretty quickly. The crowd was largely people in their 20−30s, which was fun. They have a great selection of beers, both on stock as well as some rotating ones. Most of them are available in pint size or 1L(which comes in an awesome boot-shaped glass!) The bartenders were more than happy to let us sample some before we decided too. They also had a unique beer cocktail, which was refreshing, fizzy, and fruity. The only thing that was kind of annoying was that a ton of people brought their dogs. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love dogs, but I don’t think people necessarily need to bring them out when they’re drinking. Some of the dogs got into fights and barked a lot. Line was very long when we left around 9pm but the inside was actually less packed. I would recommend coming sometime around 7−8pm!

This place is great! It is a traditional beer garden with a beautiful outdoor patio. I enjoyed the beer I had here, which was important, because I had an entire boot of it! The bartender was very friendly. Beware– it can get VERY crowded around happy hour. My boyfriend and I got there around 5:00, and there was no line to get in, but no seating. By the time we left, around 7:30, there was a sizable line to get in and definitely no seating. It’s worth it though!

This is just a review for brunch. My group and I are pretty well-seasoned DC brunchers, so it takes a lot to get a good brunch review. Dacha just started doing brunch, and I have to say it is well worth it! Downsides: they don’t take reservations, so if you want to get a seat at a reasonable hour, get there right at 11 when they open. Also, you have to order your food at the bar and pick it up yourself, which can be a chore if you’re hungover from the night before(let’s be honest, why else are you at brunch?). However, it was nice to be outside, and the mist fans definitely made the unbearable DC heat and humidity less terrible. Upsides: THEFOOD. You have an option to get just the entrée or the platter. GETTHEPLATTER. It’s only $ 4 more for like twice the food, and it’s worth it. I had the bagel sandwich, which was the perfect combo of things I didn’t even know I needed together. Sunny-side up egg, thick-cut bacon, fried green tomato and pimento cheese on one side; and pan-fried lentil and barley cake, caramelized onion caraway, and beer cheese spread on the other side– served open faced. AREYOUKIDDING? This sounds weird, but I cannot recommend it enough. On top of that, you get scrambled eggs, home fries, and jalapeño mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and I didn’t finish it all, but that didn’t stop me from trying… I also sampled someone else’s steak platter and the sausages platter. If I had to pick I would say the sausages platter was definitely more worth it, but the steak was good as well. Bottomless mimosas– you really can’t go wrong. Overall, why is this place so far from my house and why can’t they take reservations so I can brunch there more often??? DEFINITELY give this a try!

From always biking past here, I am so happy I finally got to experience the magical beer garden called Dacha! Just looking at the large Audrey Hepburn painting, you know this place trying to bring sexy back! With a large assortment of beers, messes, cider, and bar bites, Dacha is definitely the best mid afternoon, happy hour, dinner, post party scene! I am more of a beer person and definitely suggest getting the Vitus(best beer they have personally) or the Radler(grapefruit beer on the lighter side!). Even though the boots are tempting, if you want to try different beers, just get the half liter and you won’t regret it! On top of their amazing selection, there is a lot of seating and standing room. Takes a little time to get seating at a picnic table, but its not impossible! Also, don’t get intimidated by the lines to get in, you’ll get in to get your drink on no matter what! The bar tenders are super nice and try to serve you as fast as you can — shout out to Boxty for understanding that MYTHIRSTISREAL. With the beautiful lighting and Audrey In the background, this place is great for hawt social media! And also they post great deals and happy hour specials on their fb that are pretty funny! Who can pass up 10 dolla boots of pils during happy hour?!? I know I can’t!

This is my favorite biergarten in DC. Great atmosphere and high quality(and quantity) beers. Although the portions are on the smaller side, the food is quite delicious. Since you are really there to drink DASBOOT, portion sizes of foods are not really a concern. Definitely a great summer/spring spot. In summary: — Great beer selection. — Outdoor seating. — Great spot for big groups. — Pet friendly. — Men’s restroom is really unique.

Dacha is super duper trendy right now, which means that it’s very busy. We arrived on a warm Saturday night and found a long line to get in. However, the bouncer at the front of the line was very good at moving the line quickly and we got to the front within fifteen minutes. Once inside the garden, we made our way through crowds of people to the bar and ordered a Lagunitas and a boot of Hefeweizen. The beer selection is super great — I love that they have both a wide variety of German beers as well as some classic craft beers, ciders, and meads(basil lemongrass and Orange flavors! Gotta try these next time). The selection is excellent. We could notttt find anywhere to sit. Every table was packed with people and even the stand up counter space is a difficult place to find space. We moved around quite a lot trying to find a good space and eventually settled at a table in the back part of the garden: the back tables are definitely inferior to the ones in front, the area is less well-lit and generally less pleasant, but still nice enough. My biggest problem with Dacha is how early they do their last call and the way that they do it! It closes at 12 and they stop pouring at 11:15. Why so early? To announce this, they abruptly turn off the lights of the garden. It’s a little shocking. Additionally, at exactly 12 they pretty rudely start shouting at everyone to get out and clear out the entire place in minutes. I don’t really understand this attitude. I know if they didn’t kick people out they’d probably never leave, but I feel like there could be a much better way to do this. Regardless, Dacha is one of the most fun places to be on a summer night. The fairy lights and wood tables are lovely — only made better by the excellent beer. I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot — I’m hoping to go later this week during the day.

Dacha is a pretty legit place I must admit. I’m actually not a huge fan of beer in general but this place has me sold on coming back here at the very least. First off, this place is about 2 blocks away from the Shaw metro. Metro-accessible drinking places are a plus for me. I walked in after getting my ID checked and went towards the back of the garden. They had the bar underneath a giant tent with misters shooting out cold water to cool down anyone near the bar. It was fantastic. I had no idea what to get so one of the bartenders gave me a recommendation that I ended up being quite pleased with. I got a boot(33 oz) for $ 10 which is a great happy hour price anywhere in DC/Arlington. Another great thing about this place is that people bring their dogs. You could walk through Dacha and see 10 of them scurrying around or just chilling at their owners’ feet. I’ll definitely be back to this place soon. Great for a group of friends to hang out and have a few giant beers.

This is my first time here and I didn’t even know what a beer garden was. My friend Nick suggested we stop here and I’m glad I did. I’m not a beer drinker so if you’re like me– we are out of luck. There’s nothing that beer here(insert laugh track here). There was some flavored beer that didn’t taste like the regular tasting beer. You know, like«dirty socks». || PAUSE. Before all of you beer drinkers attack me remember the first time you taste the beer it wasn’t so great. Well it’s like that for me all the time. If you know of a good tasting beer(that won’t get me fat) please comment. I don’t know if I was overly frugal(trying to get the most for my $), suffering from heat exhaustion, or had a taste for venture, but I was pretty ambitious in ordering a boot. ITSHUGE! I should have ordered the pint. My stomach was pretty upset at me. It was a struggle trying to finish that boot but I did it. I just like the feel of Dasha. Like most places in DC, when it’s crowded it’s easy to spark a conversation with a complete stranger and after 20 minutes you feel like you’ve known each other for a while. At least two days. There’s a lot of seating but it get snatched up quickly and then you have to stand which isn’t too bad. I didn’t see where you can order food but I did see people eating hotdogs. Overall I would try the place again. Mainly for socializing. There was nothing extremely special about Dasha. If you’re hey Beatrice incur will probably give this place for five stars but for us non beer drinkers we might not want to have this be a top pick on out«Going Out» list.

Came on a Saturday evening around 8 and this place was PACKED! Luckily it only took about 10 minutes to get inside. The beer service was very fast 2⁄3 times for me and painstakingly slow the 3rd time. The food here is surprisingly great! The potato pancakes are literally perfect, and the salmon cake(special they introduced that night) was really good and they were very open to feedback about the food. I really wanted to try their anchovies but they were already sold out when I got there. Lastly, this place has insanely efficient(time and resources) men’s restrooms. They have an all-in-one urinal that uses the runoff water from the sink right above it. Also has a hand dryer all within reach. So random. So cool. Oh and this place is also dog-friendly if you’re into that.
