I really wanted to like this place alot. It’s a nice location on 14th Street and the building seems like it hasn’t been there that long. The hostess and the servers were friendly and personable, but they seemed harried and the place wasn’t all that packed. The overall experience was very disappointing. We had to flag down our waiter, who it seems was also doubling as the bartender, to order our food. This took a good 10 minutes. Then, when my cousin’s shrimp and grits were delivered to him, the dish was really soupy and the server spilled some of it in my cousin’s lap. He barely apologized. My cousins said that they liked the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were a good size, but the sauce was really soupy. One person in our party ordered a salad that was never delivered. When the server brought the bill, he asked if she wanted him to remove the salad since it never came… Uhhh, yeah, I don’t think she wanted to pay $ 7.00 for a side salad that she didn’t get! Another person in our party ordered coffee. It only came after we asked 3 times. She drinks her coffee with her meal, so by the time the coffee came, her food was cold. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was good, and the waffles were just OK. $ 15 for 2 chicken wings and one mediocre waffle was expensive, especially given other choices on Georgia Ave with excellent chicken and waffles. The most insulting thing that happened, in my opinion, was the way that the check was handled. We were charged a 20% service charge with no notice or evidence that we had been charged. The guy took our credit cards and came back with a slip with a total amount only and that had a blank line for a tip, even though they had already charged us 20%. I had to ask the server for a detailed bill to figure out what I was paying for. I have never eaten at a restaurant that doesn’t give you the detailed bill after they run your credit card. I am guessing that plenty of people don’t realize that they have already tipped and tip on top of the automatic 20%. Given how horrible our server was, I was really annoyed to have to give him 20%. With his tip guaranteed regardless of the service he provided, he had no incentive to provide the service that we were forced to pay for… So, I will not be going back to this place. There are too many other good options in DC and even in this area.

Came here with my boyfriend, my bestie and her boyfriend. It was one of the only places this past memorial day weekend with open reservations for lunch. This set off a red flag at first, but we couldn’t get in anywhere else so… why not, right? The service was really good. The bartender himself was taking care of our table and seemed to be a really great guy. Nice, fun, engaging, and clearly busy but still attentive. The food was tasty. I had the Chesapeake Benedict and it was fantastic. I will say however that it was served with a light salad and I wasn’t full after. The recommendation of the bartender was the Louisiana with spicy sausage, but since I am not huge on sausage, I didn’t order it. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. He said the chicken was excellent, but the waffle was. well, just a waffle. We had a great time drinking unlimited drinks, and chatting away. Overall a nice time. Don’t know if I would return as it is far out of the way for me, but if I am in the area, hopefully I will stop buy again for a lunch or dinner! Good Eatin’!

A group of us went to brunch a few weeks ago at crème. It was fine, but nothing I’d go out of my way to get again. Most of the table had one of the Benedict platters, I opted for the french toast with the mixed berries. It was good, but no better than you could get at a diner for half the price. They do have drink specials for mimosas and bloody marys(1 for $ 8, 2 for $ 15, unlimited for $ 16), but the service was kind of slow, so we couldn’t necessarily take advantage of the unlimited deal. All in all, it was fine. I wouldn’t choose to go back there again, but I would have no issues if someone suggested it. For the money I think there are better brunch spots in the area.

I went for brunch with a few friends. I had the Chesapeake Benedict and it was delicious, as were the bottomless mimosas! The food and drink there are truly the most awesome things about this restaurant. Seriously. Feed your face here. When we first got there, it took a long time for our server to come to the table. We were sitting around five minutes before she came by. We resigned to the fact that service would just be slow. After the slow start, our server was outstanding, however. Upon closer inspection, it just looked like all of the servers were doing the work of several employees in one — garnishing, running food, etc. on top of their serving responsibilities. Even the host(who was not at the stand when we walked in) was helping put finishing touches on the plates going out. Also, the menu could be a little clearer. It doesn’t list the choices for the make your own omelette — good thing our server knew the menu forward and backward. Lastly, the menu pages were mixed up for 3 out of 4 of our menus. My «issues» are nitpicky, I know. But the details could really push this place over the top. Can’t say it enough though, super. awesome. food. And that’s most important. Crème has made it to my brunch rotation.

I can say that this was the first time I have shrimp and grits… If I ever have it again, it will be compared to Crème’s deliciousness lol! It had andouille sausage, bell peppers, opinions, shrimp and grits– seemed like it was served with a broth, but that is what made the dish so savory! I love soul food and this definitely was amazing! I am expecting, so I could not try any of their drinks, although they all looked amazing! I had a nice glass of OJ with my dish. If we are ever back in DC, I would definitely go back to Crème for brunch!

Still on my #FrenchToast mission. Crēme has really good French Toast($ 10). It’s not perfect because I think the perfect French Toast should be good without syrup. Their fried chicken($ 5) is very good as well. I made up the Chicken & French Toast option, and it worked well. My food was served hot which is always great, versus getting it luke-warm most other places breakfast serving spots. Definitely worth the visit PS. As you probably read elsewhere they serve bottomless drink here.

I just finished my meal here. The shrimp and grits are bomb! I would definitely get them!!! The broth is so good you’ll want it by the glass. My boyfriend had the steak and eggs. The steak was cook perfectly and the scrambled eggs were just like at home. Our friend got the Louisiana Benedict and according to him it was«adequate.» The mimosas have quite a bit of OJ in them but still tasty. My boyfriend got the Miami Heat and it was very strong. Great brunch spot! I’ll definitely come back when I’m visiting DC. I have to have the shrimp and grits again!

I’d like my money and calories back to be honest. I came here for brunch and I wasn’t impressed. Full disclosure I remember them from the U street location and I really liked them back then. I am not sure what happened to the food during the transition to 14th. I had the steak and eggs. I am a cow connoisseur and I can assume you– this was the toughest steak I’ve had and not what you’d want early in the day. I ordered both the steak and eggs medium. Steak was such a poor quality cut it was hard and beige in the middle. The eggs actually came out over hard, not over medium. The mixed greens on the plate were good(but really, who can mess that up?). The service was another issue. I made a reservation but still had to wait 10 mins on arrive(no biggie). To order took a while but to pay took so long I walked the check over to the three people standing by the register. From start to finish, this wasn’t the ideal brunch I was expecting to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in while. Maybe if I had their 3 mimosas for $ 12 I would’ve been more happy and less concerned about the quality of the food or service but I highly doubt it.

I’ve been meaning to check out Crème, ever since I had some of their samplings at an event. This restaurant is located in the U Street Corridor, offering both a brunch and a dinner menu. I had their Chicken & Waffles(fried chicken of white or dark meat, served on top of a fluffy Belgian waffle with a dollop of butter; the chicken had a great seasoned exterior, crispy and crunchy, and was pretty great with the hot sauce provided; the waffle was okay, but I think I prefer just eating the fried chicken, rather than the combo set). The hubs had the Traditional eggs Benedict(poached eggs, served on an English muffin, a slice of ham steak, and a homemade hollandaise sauce; the ham steak and the hollandaise sauce had an off taste to them, kind of ruining the whole dish; definitely forgettable. This also came with an overwhelming amount of greens). We also ordered a side of their Breakfast Potatoes, which were thinly sliced circular potatoes with some sauteed onions — great with ketchup and hot sauce. I am hoping that I can request wings only, or just the fried chicken next time! Service was friendly, and the place itself was pretty small and cozy. We had no trouble getting a table as we just walked-in. There are some free parking around the area(just make sure you avoid the permit-only spots). +tasty fried chicken! +Breakfast Potatoes +friendly service

Still as delicious as I remember! Recently visited DC and absolutely had to pay a visit to one of my favorite restaurants in life for the beloved shrimp and grits! Crème’s shrimp and grits recipe is fail-proof because each and every bite is bursting with flavor and spice each and every time! They have moved to a bigger space since I’ve been gone but it was just as busy as it used to be. I’m a stickler for customer service and I have to give it to them, they have really improved in that area!

My mom and I ordered the chicken and waffles without the powered sugar during Sunday’s brunch. The meal was fantastic! We also had a coke and a coke with cranberry. The cokes were $ 3.50 each though. Overall the service was good except for the kitchen forgetting we didn’t want powdered sugar. Thw waiter made them take it back before it got to our table. Nice catch! I think the kitchen is so busy they don’t take a second to read an entire order. So when we did get our food we noticed they redipped the chicken in oil just to get the sugar off. All in all the experience was good, the food was tasty and the server was attentive.

It was ok just to meet up and talk. But if you want to experience good tasteful food breakfast/brunch this will not be the place for you. I had brunch so I can only go off of the brunch food. Places tend to do ok in the breakfast/brunch area and good with lunch and dinner. So you may want to try it out for yourself. Omelet was a little over cooked for me even after asking not to. I like my omelet to run a little, my preference. The turkey bacon was a thinner cut which made it plastic like.(if that make sense). The pancakes was good. I was able to eat it without syrup. They have a bottomless mimosa option which is always a plus.

We ate at Crème on 8÷2÷15, and we liked the atmosphere and updates to the restaurant. We both ordered the steak and eggs brunch, mine med rare and my dates, med. We also ordered the 5 for $ 15 mimosas and a Bloody Maria. The eggs were okay, but the steak was below average. First, everything was in dire need of seasoning. Secondly, the steak was one of the toughest I have ever eaten. I am questioning the quality beef that is being used. A great(prime) steak is supposed to have intense marbling and when cooked properly, results in a steak that melts under your knife. Unfortunately, this is not what we got. The side salad was also dry and tasteless. Perhaps we should have ordered dishes that they are known for, i.e. chicken and waffles or the benedicts… Either way, I was disappointed and not even remotely impressed– and still hungry. We will most likely not return.

Just ok. Went for brunch yesterday, and I felt like everyone had great service except the table I was at. Ordered the 5 mimosas for $ 15 and only got 3 and a half. Pancake we ok, and my friend ordered french toast, had to send it back twice. They were under cooked both times. Only gave us 5 dollars off of the French toast that was never really eaten. Not as busy as some brunch spots I’ve been too, and still don’t know why our server was very not wanting to be there or just forgot about us being there. Went to everyone of his tables and we are just an after thought. Never again.

This place is great! We had really good service, delicious food and a good time! Not quite sure, but I think the bartender, who was also our waitress, is the owner. She really impressed me. Her demeanor, the way she ran her bar and patrons came in asking for her, this place is in good hands! The food was delicious! The Chicken and Waffles was perfect. Moist chicken and fluffy waffles, I was so happy I was in food heaven. My friend’s Lox and Bagel Benedict was«on point.» She said this was one of the best lox and bagels that she’s had even compared to the ones in New York. I think everyone was pretty happy with our food. The ham that my other friend got as a side looked delicious. The mimosas were good and a great deal too. $ 15 for 5, and they kept our glasses full all the way to the end of our meal.

I was so PISSED — which is why I forgot to write this review. But, like to hear it — here it goes! I planned a Bday brunch for myself and 17 of my close girlfriends on 10/19/2014 — I LOVEMY friends. Okay, so I was picking between this spot and another and went with this spot because I love to patronize minority owned business. That’s VERY important to me. Anywho, the review. The planning part went okay — yeah — just okay! I sent an email and received a response back the next week. I was informed that I needed to call the number to set it up and finalize things. I called everyday for like a week and NEVER got an answer. There was a particular time I was supposed to call and because I am a rule follower, I followed the rules and LEFT messages. Finally(after a week) I was able to reach someone and make my $ 50.00 deposit and finalize my reservation I finally arrive on 10.19 and a few of my girls were already there. The place was PACKED, but I didn’t care because I had a reservation — well at least I thought I did. We ended up waiting for more than ONE hour with a reservation — chile PLEASE! That’s HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE. Of course, I asked to speak with the manager and she comes out. I explain to her that I have a reservation and she says –that does not guarantee your seat. Wha??? Girl, don’t play with me — I KNEW it was NOT going to be good and that I was NEVA going to be back. Fast fwd, we finally sit down and our waiter — an African American lighter complected gentleman greets us. His service was impeccable and he was a GEM. I only wish I remembered his name. Actually, I hope he’s found a better employer — and I MEANTHAT! We ordered our food — a plethora of things. The funny thing is that they had run out of glasses so some of us had shot glasses of orange juice and others had jugs — I AMBEINGHONEST. I kept saying, this has got to be a joke. Everyone enjoyed their food. However, I ordered an egg white omelette and mines was the LAST food to come out. Y’all think the«Manager» had something to do with that?!?

I came to Crème with a group of friends for their Sunday brunch. It was a great experience overall, and we ended spending a good two hours there. For entrées, I got the traditional eggs benedict and my boyfriend got lox bagels. When the side salad is larger than the actual dish served, though, one may want to re-evaluate the presentation of the meal… But the food was very flavorful and tasty despite the smaller portions. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the lox was very fresh. But the star of our experience really had to be Luke, our server. He was accommodating, personable, and very friendly. He elevated our experience to the next level, and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much because of a server’s jokes. Finally, just a heads-up, I placed a reservation through Unilocal, but it didn’t seem to have gone through. The hostess was very gracious and got us a table no more than five minutes after our reservation time, but one might want to call ahead instead.

Good lord this place was good! I came here with a friend for brunch. The food and service were so top notch, it could seriously make a grown man weep. This is all we really want America-good food, good service, and good friends. Is that too much to ask for!?! My friend had the crab cakes and a side salad since she just ran her half marathon the day before. Not me! I opted for the chicken and waffles. The waffles melted like butter right in my mouth, and the chicken was downright scrumptious. I love the décor, it’s very open and light. The table next to us had this awesome dessert, and we ended up striking up a conversation with them over their eye poppin dessert! That’s what a good restaurant does; creates the opportunity to strike up a conversation with new friends! Our server was just as awesome. He kept asking me if we had met-no I’m not from here. Then he was like, where are you from? Military brat. Where did you go to school? As soon as I said, University of Georgia– he exclaimed, «I KNEWIT!!!» You’re on the website, and he used to give tours at the law school, and would see me in the library. Say whaaaa??? What a small world. Also, the place my husband and I had our first date, engagement dinner, and rehearsal dinner is owned by his cousin. We must have spent an extra twenty minutes reminiscing on the glory that is Athens, GA, and all the great eateries there. In a nutshell, go to Crème, and create some memories of your own over a fabulous plate of food!

Great location. Very reasonably priced. Friendly staff that kept the refill coming, whether you ordered the bottomless mimosa, or bottomless coffee, you won’t see the empty bottom. Chicken and waffles: that’s just it. Crispy fried chicken(dark or white meat) and fluffy waffles. I love it that they give you the option to choose which side of chicken you pledge your allegiance, light or dark. Will return for shrimp and grits next time. Didn’t have enough room in stomach this time.

Went here on a whim for Sunday brunch. Not from the area but we were staying nearby and heard this place moved to 14th. Place was not packed so good for us that we got a table immediately(appreciate it coming from a brunch crazy New York). Waiter was prompt and nice. I do wish they had more options than vitamin d milk for my Coffee which was good btw. Wanted skim milk. We placed our order and was made fast and hot. Ordered an omlette with egg white, peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheddar. I usually make my own eggs at home and know it’s hard to get a fluffy omlette with egg whites. This was perfectly made, fluffy, right amount of veggies and good cheddar. All in all we all enjoyed our meals and were happy. Lost the star for not having enough spoons and no skim milk. Waiter checked up on us a few times to make sure everything was good. Will def return when I’m back
