Such a great, new spot in DC that has a vibe for anyone. The upstairs is always live where dancers get down to great music that changes each night. There’s also a ‘secret’ bookcase passage to another bar area that’s more chill if you want to wind down from all the dancing or just want to have a few drinks and not much more. The décor is amazing as well the light and sound set ups! I def recommend Cloak & Dagger to anyone who may be skeptical to try a new spot. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve visited various clubs in DC and I have to admit this is by far is my favorite. I’ve been a few times and every time the music is great, drinks pouring, staff super friendly. It has best of both worlds. If you want to lounge and chat head downstairs to the speakeasy themed bar. If you want to dance or just more into the party scene upstairs is the place to be. This is one of the few places I can say I have a great time I go EVERY time I go.

If you’re looking for an awesome lounge that plays amazing music, this is the place to go! You won’t be able to stop dancing once you hit the 2nd floor, but if you’re looking for something chill I would suggest staying in the library. The entire staff is super friendly and attentive to ensure you have a great time. There’s a plethora of breakdancers that is incredibly entertaining to watch and participate. This is definitely my go-to lounge when I want a guaranteed fun night!

Great new spot on the street! If you are just looking to relax, the downstairs is a chill spot with good drinks and popcorn. If you want to dance, upstairs has really good music and a fun atmosphere. It has a cool vibe, good drinks and is a perfect spot to meet up with friends! We will definitely be back.

Came here a few weeks back w friends as it was pretty new and friends were talking about it. Was celebrating 2 friends birthdays and l like how its broken up into 2 main sections. A chill lounge socializing area to get your drinks, meet people or cool down from the dance floor and an upstairs area where there is dancing. Music was on point and saw a lot of good dancers show off in circles throughout the night. Def will be returning.

This place has a way more upscale look than when it was Patty Boom Boom, very classy. The downstairs lobby area has a nice speak-easy feel to it and is a good place to relax and get away from all the excitement going on upstairs and just have a drink. The music is live as hell and thank god the DJ booth is situated all the way up in Rapunzel’s tower so the DJ actually gets some privacy and drunk college kids can’t request Trap Queen every 5min. All the staff seems friendly enough and it’s wild to see the owners out there getting down with everyone. I’ve only been on Thursdays but it really starts getting live around 12 so don’t be surprised if you’re there at 11 and everyone’s chill, just have a drink and enjoy the open space while you can.

I went there for the first time on Saturday with a friend of mine and we loved the place. The bartenders were fast at getting your drinks even though the place was packed and the music was great. I have to say the best in dc by far! I had so much fun… Definitely going back!

I love this place ! For one its located right on U St next to all of my other favorite spots. The bartenders are kind, cute, and FAST even when the place is packed solid. The door guys and security were also very welcoming. The drinks are good with a nice selection of beers and not over-priced. On the nights I have been there, I always found the music to be well selected, drawing an unpretentious and fun crowd. The décor is classy and high ceilings make it feel very spacious. This has now become my go-to spot on U St.

What an awesome lounge! I’ve known the owner back when he was just a promoter so I was excited to see what type of lounge he would put together. When you walk in there is a secret door to your left that will lead you into a more smaller bar. Upstairs is where there is a bigger location for dancing and tables. The best part was watching the DJ walk up to his tower. He goes through the fireplace. YES the fireplace!!! The atmosphere is very chill with a good mix of music. I try to stay away from U st if I can but now that Cloak & Dagger opened I might be more willing to head out that way.

I rarely head over to to the U St area, but I’m glad I did for this one. It’s a fun place with great music and a diverse crowd. Sonny brings in the best DJ’s around DC and the setup inside is inviting and very chill. I especially like the intimate hidden room behind a bookcase on the first floor and the eclectic mix of cocktails they have to offer. The bartenders are friendly and the vibe and energy is good throughout the venue. If you’re looking for something different and fun that can appeal to a diverse crowd with great music, definitely check this spot out!

Great new spot with a unique vibe. DJ’s spin a range of music and know how to cater to the crowd and get people up and dancing. They have a small bar on the first floor for a more private feel and a large bar upstairs, including tables for bottle service. Reasonable prices and staff are all friendly and fun!

I went there for the first time on New Years Eve, and it was a really fun place with good music. There were three floors and each floor had different levels of fun. I’m glad I went! check it out!

With a handful of competition on the U Street corridor, what sets cloak and dagger apart is its service, unique hand-crafted cocktails on the first floor and most important a very attentive staff. Having taken over the old Patty Boom Boom, the space’s transformation is day and night(in the best way possible). I’m not a bottle service kinda fellow, but I do appreciate interesting spins(think faux fireplace and hidden speakeasy bar by way of bookshelf) on the ubiquitous nightclub and lounge. When asked where to go on U street, I would recommend Cloak and Dagger for a fun night out.

What a breath of fresh air on U St! I wish Unilocal had more than a five star rating because this place definitely deserves it. I am spoiled, I have been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years and I expect a certain level of service and entertainment when I frequent an establishment. And boy, does this place deliver! I fell in love with the décor, ambiance and staff. You can tell that everyone is happy to be there. The security staff is very nice, and the bartenders are on point. My favorite night is Thursday night when all the local break dancers get together and let loose. My girlfriends and I plan on going there every Thursday to look at the yummy eye candy :).

One of the chillest places I’ve ever set foot in. The entire place has a classic Victorian era home feel, with some amazing sound and lighting. There is a bookcase hiding a speakeasy themed bar to the left, which offers some excellent(and strong) cocktails, and to the right up a flight of stairs is the dance floor, with the DJ booth hidden above a fireplace. The floor has some table service right on the dance floor, but if you wanted something more private, there is a mezzanine level that overlooks the 2nd floor. The coolest part about coming here, is that it’s become the new break-dancers dance-spot. Thursdays is their main day, but expect a circle to form on Fridays and Saturdays as well. The entire staff is outstanding, and so far the rotation of DJs has been really good. Every time I’ve walked in, the vibe and energy has been outstanding. I highly recommend this place.

What a refreshing and cool addition to the U Street Cooridor area. Great vibes, cool DJ’s nightly, staff, and management are where it’s at.

They have some pretty large footsteps to fill replacing Patty Boom Boom but only time will tell. They do a Reggaeton night on Tuesdays, 90’s music on Thursday and the typical top 40, hip hop usual on Friday’s and Saturday’s. As I’m writing this, they have only been officially open for about a week or so and been doing private events for a couple months. The place was pretty empty the night I stopped by but the bartenders were both friendly. The reno of this place itself isn’t bad. Cloak and dagger has kind of an old school British interior design with new wallpaper, faux books on shelves when you walk in. There are also a few couches and places to sit which may be removed on busy nights. Upstairs was also renovated and looks nice. If you ever went to Patty Boom Boom you’ll know there are only two unisex bathrooms. You can reno the surface but unfortunately it’s not cheap to add more bathrooms so anticipate a wait on a packed night. Only time will tell if this place can draw the crowd like it’s former occupant, it’s on a tough corner with stiff competition but it has some potential. For me it’ll be worth more visits and a review update.
