I lived here for 2.5 years and it was not worth the hassle. Except for the great location, I would have left sooner. I initially moved into an apartment on the first floor and there was a RAT. I cannot, no ma’am! I asked to be moved to another open apartment. The manager accommodated but made me feel like it was such a big deal. Whatever, fix your rat situation! I echo the other reviewer’s sentiments: — Unreasonable entry: There would be times my unit would be entered without any notice. I have a particular way of locking my door and I know if someone came in and left. There was one time when my door was left completely open. Unacceptable. –Old building: It’s old despite the renovations, so damage is to be expected. Suffering through both Hurricane Irene and Sandy, the ceiling of my unit was flooded and caved in twice. They tried their best to get contractors in to fix the issue, but it would have been nice to be placed in a hotel while the construction was being done.(CHEAP ass landlord) –Garbage room: Gross and creepy basement room. I rarely used it. I threw away my trash at the neighboring house’s bins on my way to work. Thanks PETA!

Neighborhood is great but it gets extremely loud with construction in the back and the bars nearby. Unfortunately management also completely sucks(owner is apparently a rich but cheap family) and on-site is always absent(she covers two properties and is impossible to get a hold of. If you try to call the main office, they haven’t a clue where she is). The trash room was always disgusting and smelled horrible — bugs were always crawling around all over the place and trash seemed to sit for days. Essentially no amenities(onsite laundry facility that is ALWAYS in use) and interiors are outdated(chipped old floors, no ventilation in the bathroom, white appliances, plastic countertops, irregularly designed bathroom with absolutely no storage). Management, get your act together. Prospective tenants, look elsewhere!

Not sure what the other review was all about. I lived there for a year from Fall 2011-Fall 2012 and found that management was incredibly communicative about the necessary functions they had to perform. They were also good about responding to my requests quickly and efficiently. I honestly cannot see where someone would complain. If you want complete and udder privacy with no one entering your place buy a house. The landlord has to manage the units and common spaces effectively and management at the Claridge House was very good about it. As a commercial real estate professional specializing in apartments I can tell you, most are not near this level.

If possible, I’d not leave any stars. I’ve lived at Claridge House a little over a year and am in the process of moving out. The management is absolutely horrendous. The number of awful things I’ve experienced here include: — I authorized them to go into my apartment while I wasn’t home to do some routine repairs. I had to run home in the middle of the day to pick up something and found my apartment unlocked, with the door propped open and no one inside. Not only was I able to essentially rob myself without anyone interfering, when I confronted management about this, they tried to deny that it happened. — after the above debacle, I requested that no one enter my apartment with out me. The next weekend, while I was blow drying my hair, a maintenance person walked in the unit.(I did not hear the knock due to the blow dryer and was wearing only underwear). — have come home on MANY other occasions to find my apartment had been entered with no advance notice or approval. I would realize someone had been in my apartment because things were moved. — Had a time sensitive package being delivered. I requested the package be signed for and put by my door. When the package came, building office emailed to say that the package seemed«too sensitive» and that they were uncomfortable signing for it so turned fedex away. Needless to say, I did not get a package that was intentionally over-nighted to me. — At numerous times during construction, I had to unexpectedly shower at the gym because the water was turned off before 9am. — At time of move-out, I requested to be present during the move-out inspection. Management tried to schedule for a particular day which I indicated did not fit within my schedule. I came home a day PRIOR to the first suggested date to find my apartment had(once again) been entered without prior consent. I emailed trying to determine why someone had been in my apartment without notification and was told they did the move-out inspection without me, a day before the time they scheduled. The building consistently defies the requests of residents who are paying a lot of money to live in a nice location. They also send many tedious emails about the smallest of things. This may sound silly but I hate having an email box flooded with junk mail. Pick somewhere else if you want to live in Dupont. This place has no respect for resident’s privacy.
