By the far the best ribs in DC. A plate of ribs with two sides for 12 bucks! The friendliest and nicest people in the city. This is a local gem and welcomes all! Can’t wait to go back!

Just visited Chuck and Billy’s for a birthday celebration on Saturday night in which this was my first time here… They have a dj, full open bar(very costly) all drinks are served in glass dated cups, and a kitchen to make food purchases from… I was able to sample their fried chicken wings(were just ok), the tiny wingettes(fried to a great golden crisp and very flavorful, definitely worth purchasing two full orders worth), but the highlight of the night was the fish bites or pieces of fish… hands down they were awesome… a tad bit too crunchy on the outside but extremely tender on the inside and flavorful…(order 3 full orders you will be addicted and ask for a side of hot sauce). I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who seemed a bit reserved, I suppose because he was elderly and the music was extremely loud. This place is definitely for the 40 and up crew, I even saw quite a few ppl that were in their 50’s and 60’s. They play a great deal of oldies but goodies and a small bit of today’s music on the radio(hip hop and rap), was a bit upset that there was no reggae music but overall I give this place 4 stars. This is the ideal version of a hole in the wall however it’s very Interesting if you are into dated music, great laughter, friendly staff, and a darn good time. I call this place the«Diamond in the Rough», although it’s small in size this is a awesome place to kick back and enjoy yourself… I would definitely be back for the fish bites, to go that is…
Soooo when ever my aunt is in town, she love to go here. On Fridays they have a DJ and sometimes a band. The bands are usually pretty good. This is not a popular place to go for the 30 and under crowd even tho you may run into people in that age range. I mostly see couples or people 40 and older! The food is good, and if you go on a Friday, get there early because the place can get super packed. To sum it up: the place is cool for a Friday that you may not have much to do or don’t feel like going to a «big club». It’s cool to grab a drink, some food and maybe even a laugh or two.

Apparently this Pleasant Plains institution specializes in poultry. I guess the mural of the chef chasing a chicken with a cleaver outside should have been a dead give away. It just goes to show: I have no flair for grasping the obvious. Anyhoooo, back to the chicken: an order of fried wings were deliciously large, plump and golden brown. Mmmm, mmm, nothing better than the taste of fried chicken skin(with the possible exception of fried bacon). Accompanied by some deep fried potato wedges(and a can of Ballentine Ale), and I’m in heaven. As far as beer goes, they also have bottles of Bud, Lite, Heineken, and even Guiness. Thursday nights there’s a DJ spinning, and although the crowd here skews older, that doesn’t stop them from getting their groove on!
