Pretty decent Indian food. There is a tomato base curry that I am particularly fond of.

I would give them zero stars if that was possible. Over the past few weeks they apparently decided that they will no longer take delivery orders over the phone. When I called tonight I was turned away from placing a phone order and was sent to their website. So I went to their website to order… as I was very tersely instructed to do. After two college educated people tried multiple times to place an order online I called back to let them know the website wasn’t working. I asked if I could place my order over the phone and was told in no uncertain terms that I could not and that I would have to try some other order service. If this were the first time the service from these folks was sultry and short, I honestly wouldn’t take my time to write a review, but it unfortunately is not. The food here is decent, but the service makes ordering Indian food from ANYWHERE else a better idea. So tonight I’ve ordered from Aatish. And I threw away my menu from Cap Hill Tandoori.

Very good taste! My daughter devoured her Chicken Mikhani! The Naan was fabulous! This would be a regular on our list if we lived here.

Usually the food is very good, but I woke up this morning with really bad food poisoning. My company does not give sick days off, so now I’m missing work out of my limited paid time off. You’ve been warned.

With limited Indian options in the area, I was willing to try Capitol Hill Tandoor in spite of the reviews. I ordered all of my favorite vegetarian dishes– Pakoras, Samosas, Roti, Aloo Gobi, and an eggplant dish. The fried items(pakoras and samosas) were fried to a dark brown crisp– like they were forgotten in the fryer. The Roti and Aloo Gobi were ok. The eggplant dish was more like an eggplant mush, similar to a Baba Ghannouj. To top it all off, the restaurant was dirty and I noticed a roach scurrying on the wall by me while we were ordering. The server kind of shrugged awkwardly about it. Then I had to sit through the meal, after seeing that. I wanted to leave immediately. If it weren’t for the OK Aloo Gobi, this would have been given one star.

I don’t think this is place is anything to write home about. It’s very average in terms of quality, taste, and pricing. I was disappointed however because I ordered delivery through Unilocal, and 45 minutes later I still hadn’t received anything. I called the place and I swear to god they had no idea I placed an order. Then they said they would come in 20 minutes to deliver. Well, I live no more than a 3 minute car drive away and the place is NEVER busy. So it’s safe to say they completely forgot about my order and if I hadn’t called, probably wouldn’t be eating any chicken curry. Definitely not impressed. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think any ethnic cuisines in Capitol Hill have been good. All the food is so white-washed and Americanized. Total let down. I ordered my food Indian HOT, and still it was barely spicy. Boooooo.

Let’s see where do I start… originally I was hesitant to go to this place given the array of reviews, some good some bad… however, I really wanted Indian food and it was walking distance from the job site… long story short, for a little over $ 10 bucks the lunch Buffett was superior by far. Tandoori chicken, curry chicken, spicy chicken, curry goat, spinach, rice, chicken and rice, salad, and chic peas are just a small sample of what you can expect. Typical Indian restaurant décor, very dark, not the fancy place one might expect from the revamped southeast but it wasn’t a game changer to make me eat somewhere else. I came around 1pm, food was still fresh and the service as far as drinks and overall friendliness was above average. Seriously considering making this my every Friday move if it wasn’t for those pesky panhandlers in front of the place… smh. Two people, two drinks, two buffets, $ 27 bucks… lets get it.

The place has changed a little in the last year. Always enjoyed the restaurant. I appreciate good Indian cuisine. The fiancé is Indian and I have been blessed with eating tremendously good home cooked food. To say that I’ve developed an increased tolerance for spicy food is an understatement. I ate almost no spicy food growing up, and didn’t appreciate it as much as I do no. Back to Capitol Hill Tandoor — all the pakora apps are delish. Ask for extra pudina ki(mint) and saunth(tamarind) chutneys. Made fresh, and adds that extra taste to your foods that you desire. All the staples are good, and the portions are perfect. Chicken makhni, korma, biryani, all good. There’s even a buffet special for lunch. Do yourself a favor and call before going… if a large group shows up for the buffet, you’ll have to wait 45 minutes plus for a seat. They stock Kingfisher and Taj Mahal beers, and I look forward to heading to India someday to sample and compare my in-laws cooking with what I’ve come to know as great northern Indian cuisine. 2 down sides — the décor and lighting are so dim, it’s not so much an inviting place to eat anymore. And DONOT order the Chicken Kathi rolls. They’re listed on the menu as being wrapped in a roti, but they were wrapped in a flour tortilla. They should’ve just called them Tandoori Chicken burritos.

I went here with two roller derby teammates when we needed a place to eat, but also to meet and hash out some details related to our upcoming season. This place was suggested because my one teammate noted that it’s «nearly always empty». And that it was! We came on a Monday evening and there were only a few other tables taken. We were free to hang out as long as we wished. We shared 3 different vegetarian dishes as well as an appetizer. The food was just okay. It took awhile for us to be served, and it also took awhile for us to get our bill, but we weren’t in a hurry(perhaps this was obvious by the many papers and iPads littering the table). If you are looking for a quiet, non-bustling Indian restaurant, this place fits the bill.

Well, I don’t eat at buffets. I just don’t. And neither should you. However, the lunch buffet here is the ultimate, possibly only, exception to that rule. Everything on this buffet is awesome. No trip to DC is complete without a trip here. Check it out.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had but it was fulfilling on this rainy Saturday afternoon. I came for a late lunch to grab a quick bite before I burned some of these cals off at the Saturday curbside vendors across the street. The Bismati rice could have better flavour, as well as a better mixed salad. However, the goat curry is reaaaaaally good! Might drop by again or might not. This street has so many dining options to sample from so I highly doubt it.

My stomach was roaring. I had just finished an intense, hour-long workout and I needed food, fast. Indian. That sounded good. But I didn’t want to pick it up, so I looked for delivery. I’m from Brooklyn, so I’ve been exposed to some A1 Indian food in my lifetime. This was not A1. Not even close. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and vegetable samosas. Delivery: On-time. They said 45 – 55 minutes. It came in about 50. The food wasn’t piping hot, but you can’t always have it your way. Appearance: Meh. The samosas and rice came in styrofoam containers. The chicken tikka masala came in a black plastic container, and it looked partially diseased when I opened it. I was starving, though, so I raged on and made a plate. Taste: Overcooked. The samosas were burned, but the insides(potatoes and peas) tasted decent. The chicken tikka masala sauce tasted burned. The peppers in the sauce were burned, and the sauce was overly milky. The basmati rice didn’t come with peas and carrots like I’m accustomed to(maybe I’m a snob, who cares). The chicken itself was halfway decent. It wasn’t overcooked, nor was it deliciously tender. I was happy with that. Cost: $ 17.85 — you do the math. Overall: Disappointed I thought 3.5 stars on Unilocal meant a slightly above average meal. But I was wrong. This was slightly below average Indian food. I could have followed a recipe and produced a similar or better meal on my own. Follow me on Twitter @Krisplashed.

This place is legit. The prices are good and it’s nice to have somewhere that delivers to Southwest! The Vegetable Samosa was a bit over-fried but tasty. Paneer Makhani was on par and super good. The sauce was creamy but not tons of paneer. The Saag Paneer was also good. I ordered everything Mild however I think I would go with Medium next time. The Naan was my favorite. We got Aloo Paratha and it was some of the best Naan I’ve had in awhile. We will definitely order from here again.

Not much to say about them… food was decent, it didn’t wow me and wasn’t the best ever. Was palatable and came with a lot of nice sauces to jazz up the food. I ordered the Chicken tikka masala and a lamb dish. I ordered delivery, it took them over an hour to get it to me. When I called to complain about the wait after an hour, they told me 10 more minutes. When the driver showed up 20 minutes later, he said they don’t deliver to me because it’s too far, but the online system had already confirmed my order so they had to bring it to me. He said to next time call and come pick it up.(I don’t understand why someone couldn’t call and tell me that. It’s less than a 10 minute drive from me) lol no worries, I’ll just go somewhere else next time. smh

This is my go-to spot for when Rasika is too busy and expensive for me. I am very content with their garlic naan, saag paneer, and chicken mahkani. The fish curry is good too.

Great lunch buffet during the week if you are in Capitol Hill. Good naan bread and the lamb biriyani is my favorite. And the masala chai tea!!!

Nothing to write home about. Food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. The naan was delicious. Prices were reasonable. I made the mistake of ordering the fish curry and was not impressed. The fish was a fried tilapia I’m guessing that tasted like it had been recently frozen. It was tough and tasteless and the curry sauce didn’t do much to improve it. I was there with a big group and others seemed to enjoy their meals so maybe my experience wasn’t representative. It was very easy to get a table for eight on a Friday night which maybe should have been a sign. Great location though right on barracks row. They have drinks. A few types of Indian beers, wine, and some traditional non-alcoholic drinks. It appears they have a buffet but it wasn’t up and running for dinner.

**Stop 1 of 4 of DC Metro Food Tours Capitol Hill** First stop of the Taste of DC food tour for Eastern Market. We rolled in about 2:30PM to an empty restaurant. We were greeted at the door and once seated served our first dish: Mulligutawny Soup. A very simple hearty soup made with split-peas and chicken with an apparent British influence, it was tasty but I wasn’t a fan. Our next dish was the Chicken Jalfrezi served with naan and rice. Definitely the best dish, it was chicken with stir-fried fresh garden vegetables and finished with tomato sauce and freshly grounded spices. The naan and rice were also very good. Overall, a pretty good meal, and I would be inclined to try it again, but the food didn’t blow me away.

So this place represents a lot wrong with restaurants in D.C. My friends and I ordered several items off grub hub tonight. I personally got the Chicken Marsalis and a side order of Naan. My friends and I are halfway through the meal when I bite down on a nail. Yes an actual nail in my meal. This is when my problems with the restaurant begin. When my friend called to talk to a manager he was beyond rude. We were ignored completely and told to talk to grubhub. My friends have ordered here before and while this was my first time I was still really excited to try this. Funny thing is that outside the nail the food was amazing. D. C is need of really good Indian food. Shame that their customer service is terrible.

I’ve walked by this place on Barracks Row for 7 years and never once felt the urge to go in until today. My buddy and I were craving Indian and wanted to try out a place we’ve never been and wandered in this place. The restaurant was empty which should tell you something. In the end, the food was not horrible, just decent. I got the chicken tikka masala and naan. The naan is AMAZING(fluffy and buttery), but if you want better Indian food go to Dishes of India in Alexandria.
