I had the breakfast buffet here that was included with my stay at the Holiday Inn. I just want to say it was top notch service with very friendly staff. The food was excellent with a great variety to choose from.

Nice place but expensive. I had a burger that was made well with good beef cooked perfectly. The waiter we had was a very nice man but was very slow moving and a bit sloppy when filling my water glass. He also dropped my straw but did replace it. Summing up: good food but expensive, somewhat iffy service at times.

Buffet is what you would expect. Nothing more. Nothing less. If you want something quick. Go for it. When we went it was $ 15 bucks per plate. Service is good though.

Had breakfast, it cost $ 36 for 2 glasses of OJ, French toast, and an omelette. My toast had mold on it. This is a tourist trap with a capital T. Avoid.

We are staying in the hotel, walked down and did the air and space museum, came back and did the dinner buffet. Good salad bar, broccoli soup was real good, had beef tips in a ancho sauce that was fantastic, tried a bit of everything and it all was very good. Everything my wife and kids had passed muster, they were very happy. Service was great, plates were cleared promptly, water glasses were always filled. Just a great experience. Don’t usually eat at the hotel resturant, maybe need to rethink that. Used a 20% Unilocal coupon, they happily accepted. Came for breakfast this morning, ordered off menu, food was great, service good.

High Price– Low Flavor– only redeeming quality was it was in our hotel! Muster up some energy after a long hot day of climbing marble steps and reading small print and walk out of the hotel to a restaurant in Penn Quarter. Spend your $ 100+ elsewhere.

Excellent service and food! Manager honored Unilocal coupon and arranged speedy service so I could catch the metro to Reagan. Passed along my time constraints and coupon request to waitress without me even bringing it up! Cobb salad was delicious with warm grilled salmon and warm fresh roll from the oven. Highly recommend. Will try the $ 12 lunch buffet next time in town. Great location near downtown Air and Space Museum. Definitely walk here instead of eating museum McDonalds.

Went for lunch during a weekday. Easy to walk to, metro friendly and starbucks nearby lol. The food was very good. Small selection. It was an all you can eat style buffet. One side had mashed potatoes, beef stroganoff, vegtable lasanga, pizza and peach cobbler. The other side had steamed green beans, turkey with gravy, an asian chicken dish and bread pudding with a small dish of sauce to drizzle over. The salad section was very small with little options. Tuna salad was also available. One container that had fruit(watermelon, strawberries and pineapple). My reason for 3 stars is the cost was 21.95 — yes the food was very good, but a limited variety and the items were not high end dishes to warrant this cost. It was more of a $ 15 level of food for a buffet. I would go back though, if that’s what the group I was with wanted, cause I’m flexible that way :-)

Friendly staff, large size of food. It is the only one open in Christmas, while Mac’s next door is closed! We are not that hungry, so we four didn’t finish two dishes. Good to go if you are staying in the hotel.

This restaurant is inside the holiday inn. The chef special beef we had for dinner was very delicious. We got the 2 dollar off coupon when check in the hotel, show the waiter the coupon first.

This restaurant was in the holiday inn where we were staying so we gave it a shot. The breakfast buffet was very good. Lots of great choices. The dinner buffet was good also with much to choose from but some items were very bland. Excellent and friendly service and at a reasonable price. Overall not bad.

I have to say, the grilled chicken quesadilla was delicious!!! One of the best ones I’ve had. Everyone enjoyed the food. So why the mediocre rating? I wish I had gotten the waiters name. The waiter lingered around and just watched us eat. It was creepy. He was a little difficult to understand but 2 things he said stood out. I admit, I’m a bit overweight. Not morbidly, but have some extra pounds. And we had been traveling all day with nothing to eat. First, the waiter brings out the dinner rolls with only enough plates for my husband and daughter and looks at me and says, «you’ll get enough breading with your quesadilla.» Ok, ha, ha… Maybe he’s trying to be funny. Then when I’m eating my quesadilla, he is literally lingering and watching me eat. I was the last one finished, but did not have the biggest plate in my party and the waiter actually said, «wow! That’s the first time I’ve ever seen anyone eat all that!!!» And I’m thinking, what are you insinuating? The food was good, so not that. It’s an appetizer that I got as a meal, so that? Most people don’t finish appetizers. Or was he making a comment about my weight? Either way, he ruined the experience. Too bad because the food was good.

We were staying in the holiday inn hotel and decided to eat at the Capitol bistro. I got fish stuffed with crabmeat that came with grilled veggies and rice. The sides were really good, but the fish was a little over cooked. My boyfriend got pasta with Alfredo sauce, asparagus and mushrooms. He seemed to be satisfied with it. I did feel that the food was a little pricey for no more than what it was. Our waiter wouldn’t stop complaining to us about how the bistro no longer carries alcohol in the restaurant and that he had to go all the way to the other resturant in the hotel to get alcoholic beverages. He was very unprofessional.

If whoever runs Capitol Bistro could figure out how to put dishes and drinks out faster, this restaurant has potential to be top notch. We ate dinner here and had relatively quick, smooth service. Staff/servers were friendly and smiling. I had a Salmon BLT, which I thought was delicious! I just read in another review that someone thought their fries/potato wedges were the frozen type, but the ones I received with my sandwich were certainly fresh and crispy, not too salty. My husband had a wrap which he also enjoyed. Our kids has chicken fingers, and those seemed like the same type you’d get at chain restaurants like Applebees. Water was refilled often and we were asked if everything was fine at least once. Too bad service was super slow the next morning at breakfast. We had garden omelettes, and kids had fruit and pancakes. We wanted to try the breakfast buffet, but I thought it was too expensive. I left with the kids when we finished eating while my husband waited to pay the check and we waited for him for at least 15+ minutes before the check came. Our server was very nice though; he even gave us a little cup of fruit for our kids to eat while we were out touring! So while the staff is very polite, friendly, and professional and food is pretty good, it seems like service can be pretty slow. Another great thing about this place is that kids eat free, although it’s probably offset by some of the high entrée prices. It’s worth a visit though.

This restaurant is inside the Holiday Inn and shares its kitchen with the 21st Amendment pub and bar. For Holiday Inn patrons, this may be a good option, especially if they are accompanied by kids — kids eat for free. Not sure if it is one kid meal with every adult meal ordered — do check it out. Overall, the food seemed a little pricey. Waiting time could be high if the adjoining pub is busy. It took a little over an hour to finish our dinner. Food was OK although the menu options were limited. Drinks were served faster. Staff was friendly for the most part. There was a 20% Unilocal discount which I did not use because I had a better offer as part of my Holiday Inn stay.

Stayed at the holiday inn and couldn’t find a restaurant nearby. Typically don’t enjoy eating at hotel restaurants but our meal was delicious! Husband ordered pork loin and I ordered butternut squash and we both thoroughly enjoyed it more than our meal at Old Ebbitt Gill! Bread rolls were warm and tasty too!

The service was a little spotty. Overall I left thinking that I really wished they refilled my water more often. So that’s not so bad. The mashed potatoes included in the buffet were great. Otherwise it’s a pretty typical lunch buffet. The line for the nicer«chef prepared» foods gets really long and messes up the rest of the self-serve line sometimes. It’s located very near to all the tourist attractions. I did think it was decorated nicely for the holidays.

OK, so this place isn’t Le Bef Fin, Le Bernardin or Acquerello. It is simply a no-nonsense, good hotel restaurant in an otherwise horribly sterile area of L’Enfant Plaza, three blocks from the Capitol, two blocks from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, across the street from Dept of Education, and within covered walking distance of FEMA and USIS. Their food is nothing to write mom about, but they do have an outstanding luncheon buffet which serves much of the Government workforce and is a mix of Southern, Mid-Western and New England faire. I guess that’s the way they must work it as they have to cater to the throngs of tourists in the area. I also liked the customer attitude of the staff at the restaurant, a refreshing break from much of the utilitarian atmosphere prevalent in SW Washington.
