Four of us walked in at 10:00 after a long day of working outside. We looked a mess, but nobody seemed to mind. We enjoyed a fantastic meal of foie gras, steak frites, rib eye and a poutine-style chicken. Dessert was crème caramel a l’ancienne, mousse chocolat, and crème broulle. Amazing meal, great wine, excellent atmosphere

Second night in a row. Outstanding food and attentive service. If I lived in DC this would be my go-to restaurant every Friday night. BTW tonight is Monday and it is busy as if it was Friday. That’s how good it is. Simple food. Simple flavor. The way food should be. From my grandmother’s kitchen to this table.

Fantastic! The staff was attentive, we didn’t make a reservation(our mistake), however we were seated immediately albeit in a table right by the hostess stand. We were told we could wait 5 minutes for a different table, but we enjoy people watching and what better place to do it than by the entrance? Appetizers: my husband and I both ordered the Gratinee du Halles(French onion soup) and it was quite filling and delicious. You could definitely make a meal of this soup if you weren’t ravenous. Entrees: I ordered the half portion of the Homardine and my husband ordered Merguez grillées version Bistrot. The Homardine was rich but very heavy, so I’m glad I ordered a half portion. The Merguez was heavily spiced with Mediterranean spices, namely cloves. Unfortunately the smell of cloves has become a nausea invoking smell for me since getting pregnant, but other than that, my husband says it was good. Dessert: We ordered the Mont Blanc, and it was DIVINE! Enjoyed with a cup of coffee or stout beer is perfection. I would recommend this place for the food, the people watching, and the atmosphere.

Delicious and homey food — My favorite restaurant in DC. I’ve been coming to Bistrot Du Coin at least once a year since my early twenties. Even after moving away, every time I’m in town to visit family I make it a point to visit Bistrot. I do try to bring as many new people with me. I think the food is just amazing, some from favorites are: French Onion soup, the several varieties of mussels, the Tartine Parisienne, and ravioles Dauphinoise. The vibe is happy and relaxing. Its considerably affordable.

I’ve been here many, many, many times… To the point where some of the servers recognize me. And the only reason why I keep coming back here is when I have to attend some gathering. But I promise no more coming here. I don’t even understand how they were able to get four stars?! The service is horrible, the food is bland and expensive. I’m trying to understand how they got the high rating and reviews… From my experience: I’ve tried the entire menu. there isn’t a dish that I would say oh yum! I wanna eat it again. The Food here is bland no flavor whatsoever, over cooked and sometimes not fresh. The bread«baguette» they serve is always stale! Don’t remember I’ve eaten a fresh, crunchy baguette here. The safest thing you could order if you have to come here is the steak. It’s not the best but decent! Service! Well, if you wanna experience the worst service ever! Then dine at bistro du coin. *The hostess: never smiles, never friendly. if you are a party of 10ppl and 5ppl already arrived… They still refuse to give you a table until the other 5 make it there. *Once they kicked us out right after we finished the last bite of our dessert. They needed to use our table so yes, they asked us to leave immediately. That experience was shocking and embarrassing for all of us. Servers: are the slowest servers ever. I have to ask for a drink 20 times and depends on my luck sometimes I get it right before I leave and sometimes never. But they don’t forget to charge you for it. Servers always have an attitude, not patient and they don’t look happy working there. *Menu: to me the menu is not French! The food doesn’t taste French and very pricey for what you get! Pain quotidian 100 times better than here. This place is not a French bistro!

This was our first time here, and our first time in DC, we are Phoenix natives. For the capital of our wondrous country I expected a lot more. This was our birthday trip; mine is on May 7th and my boyfriend’s is on the 13th. We really only had time for one restaurant on our weekend getaway and we chose here… huge mistake. He really wanted foie gras so we ordered it, and let me tell you… it was the most disappointing foie gras we’ve ever had. It was small, the texture and taste were atrocious. The other reviews that say it’s amazing blow me away, maybe we got a bad piece or maybe the poor people of DC have never truly experienced a phenomenal foie gras. For that I recommend Christopher’s and Crush lounge in the Biltmore, Phoenix AZ. I ordered a small pot of mussels, they were bland and barley warm. He ordered the steak frites, medium rare, we have grilled much better steaks in our backyard at home. The ambiance was lacking, however I got a WONDERFUL view of the inside of the kitchen where I witnessed meals being put together with BAREHANDS! Yes, you read that right. In plain view of diners, food was being taken out of their storage containers, cut up and plated with bare hands. More specifically, a cook reaching in, cutting up a strawberry and arranging it in a dessert. This is an enormous health code violation. We also ordered 2 dirty belvedere martinis, at a restaurant with as many stars as this one possesses I expected a great cocktail. again, incredibly disappointing. We sent them back twice and ended up having them taken off our bill. Not only that, but the last one I received had a bug floating in it(see picture) . We consider ourselves«foodies» if you will, and expect good, no, fantastic food when we decide to dine at a 4 star restaurant. We do not recommend this restaurant, and it’s 100% not deserving of its 4 star review. If you want a perfectly constructed cocktail and a meal to excite your taste buds I suggest: B Too a couple blocks away.

Bistrot du Coin, Oh how I love thee – let me count the ways: 1). Your muscles are rippling with flavor. 2). Your steak is like a stake through the heart, you slay me. 3). I can’t pass up your pasta. 4.) and your wine makes me whine for you. This place is fantastic. It has been my standard go to for over 12 years. I can count one less than one hand how many times I’ve been disappointed and the pleasurable times are enumerable. Every person I bring here is impressed.

My husband I loved this place! Bustling and fun and the very best server! Per the receipt, his name is Geo G. He was sooo good. I have several food allergies and he was dedicated to every detail to be certain that I had an allergy-free meal. The meal itself was delicious! I had the special: strip steak with bernaise sauce, with frites and salad. So yummy! And a terrific bottle of wine. My husband had the rabbit stew and sang it’s praises! We both had dessert. Mine was raspberry sorbet! Yum! His was a caramel custard topped with caramel! Superb! We had had a great time! Go and enjoy!

Two conventionally warring concepts… Stew and subtle. The Etoufade Provencale here marries the ends and creates a sublime dance in the middle… Subtle herbal flavors roll around more substantial tones of meat and root vegetables in a way none gets lost. A harmony in the most musical sense. The service is no nonsense and direct as you’d expect of a bistro. A working man’s café… Just efficient and effective. Yet completely aware and respectful. And, they have a decent selection of half bottles. I don’t understand the blind spot many places have to the perfect solution for singles or driving couples. This place is substantial in that respect too. A great, reasonably priced meal in an environment that channels its heritage and that attracts a clientele and energy that is seductive. To the point that when it is time to leave, one hears in the back of your mind. «Really?»

Man are those ceilings high! I mean, for a D.C. restaurant, you walk in and you’re like… Is this Downton Abby? What high ceilings you have! I’ll be honest, I’m a little confused as to why there’s a bottle of Rosè sitting on each table(when you arrive). Just because you put a bottle of wine at our table… doesn’t mean I’m gonna drink it. Especially cause it’s Rosè and it needs to be cold. Now… if you put a bottle of red at the table… that might be a different story. But I get it. It’s a seafood heavy menu, so white make sense. But I’ll let you know that I’ll drink red anyday eeryday. With my scallops, with my salmon. «Homie don’t play» We started off this one a little weird, but it ended up being a great decision. Gretchen and I wanted to try the mini ravioli, so we got a small portion of it as an appetizer. It was quite delicious. We got the seafood in a cream sauce one, and I was definitely soaking up that B with the bread. For my entrée, me and Kimbo decided to split the roast chicken. The roast chicken was really good, especially the thyme/rosemary infused gravy that we got with it. Perfect for dipping the«frites» in. But I’ll be honest, the chicken was a bit smaller than we both expected. Like it wouldn’t be a stretch to think the chicken was actually killed by a quail before it ended up on our plate. Fries were good, I got to taste 2 of the mussel broths. One definitely harked back to memories of potato and leak soup. Both were soak-bread worthy. Both were actually spoon worthy. Man, I wish it was acceptable to just go at your mussel broth with a spoon… one day… one day. I have a dream too. One of the most on point dishes of that meal actually was their french onion soup. Easily the best french onion soup I’ve had in a very long time. And trust, they do not skimp on the cheese. In fact, I’ll still pulling at the gooey cheese strand and I’m back in Bethesda now… 2 weeks later.

Best French onion soup of my life. No joke! Think: a thick, soup-soaked slice of bread atop a pool of delicious, herby onion broth, topped with a mountain of melty, gooey, oh-so-amazing cheese. Seriously, SO good. Unlike many French onion soups you’ll try, this one was not overly salty and had complexity of flavor that I really appreciated. Our lunching group also ordered a half-portion of the mini Ravioli Homardine as an appetizer, which came with a lot of seafood and a red lobster sauce. When they say mini-ravioli, they mean it, too. These are like teeny tiny Chef Boyardee-sized raviolis(tasted much better though, obviously.) I got the Moules Normandes as my main course. The full size comes with frites on the side, and the mussels were tasty and delicious. The sauce reminded me of potato and leek soup. My coworker got the traditional Moules Marinières, with the garlic + white wine combo, and were SUPER delicious. I actually preferred her dish over my own(just slightly). The ambiance of Bistrot du Coin is very cute and does, in fact, feel quite French. The trimmings feel a little bit dated/worn, but it does have quite a bit of charm. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, the food came out with good timing, and overall, I had a very positive experience.

Food quality for this place was tops! The only downside was the price. With a name like bistro, I did not expect the $ 60 price tag. But it was clear after I looked at the menu, the wine prices, and so forth, that that’s what I would be in for. After accepting this reality, I let it go and ordered a good meal. I had the duck breast with the house wine. And for dessert, I had apple tart with Grand Marnier. The duck breast in creamy green peppercorn sauce was 10 out of 10 –phenomenal! It had a very nice flan with it, and a dark green salad. The tart was seven out of 10. But it all added up to a wonderful meal. I sat at the bar and watched neighbors enjoy both the steak and the mussels. Highly recommended, especially if you have a hefty budget.

Came here yesterday with a party of 8 for a friend’s birthday brunch. We didn’t need any reservations even though it was an uncharacteristically beautiful and warm Saturday in February. The interior is cavernous and there are no lack of tables or ceiling. They halls were decked with boughs of holly, colorful lights, ornaments, and other Christmas gear which was… kind of confusing for me. I guess the owners really like Christmas? Our whole table got Eggs Benedicts. I got the Eggs Benedict with ham and it was great! The eggs were very nicely cooked and the hollandaise sauce was plentiful and tangy, and the ham was thick and tasty. It comes with a huge side of fries and a simple, spring mix salad. Everyone left either full or uncomfortably full which is a win in my book! If I ever came for brunch again I would definitely get the salmon Eggs Benedict instead of the ham.

Decided go here based on our friends recommendation. We arrived to a very busy place with a group of 5 with no problem getting sat. It’s a great atmosphere and reminded us of a authentic French bistro. We ordered the lobster bisque mussels, cheese ravioli, mussel Diablo and filet. All delicious and ordered champagne to celebrate. Finished the night with the chocolate lava cake that was divine. Hands down recommend this place. The service was prompt and friendly as well

Came here with some friends and it did not disappoint. We love French food and are surprised that this place wasn’t busier. I ordered the pan seared duck entrée that came with a salad and it was amazing. We even had the lobster bisque mussels and I about died ten times. It was so good! I also had a bite of my friend’s beef bourguinon and it was really good as well. The taste of red wine was good but not too overpowering. The beef was really tender and the sauce was really yummy! We didn’t have a chance to try any desserts because we were so full. The portions are a good size but not too big either. The only con about this place is the service. Our waiter didn’t check in with us even when we needed refills. I really didn’t mind until I was really thirsty. But besides that, I still would come back and try their other things.

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of Bistrot du Coin. I don’t really think that highly of it. I don’t know if I am having a bad streak of luck when it comes to getting serviced at my latest dining excursions or if it is simply that they were not that interested in taking care of me since I rolled in here solo. I had an appointment in DuPont Circle, and had some time to kill before attending it. I opted to grab lunch and Bistrot du Coin since I was probably overly hungry by the time I arrived here. While standing at the entrance waiting to be seated — I saw 3 people who worked there look at me but dismissed the idea of walking over. I waited for a good 3 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge my attendance. Finally one of the 3 people who noticed me came over and sat me. I was seated in the front where the large window was open to the outside. I requested this seat since it was so open and airy. A little rain wasn’t going to bother me. 8 minutes later … the same woman who had sat me brought me water. My guess is she was a hostess and pulled double duty to get me service. The place wasn’t busy at all for a Friday afternoon, and I assume some people might have been cut from the shift. Nonetheless, the couple sitting next to me are getting top notch quality service from their server and being waited on hand and food. Was I not in this woman’s section? There wasn’t anyone else besides them and another table that she was helping! There were 4 tables in total. The hostess wasn’t helping anyone else dining there. I was peeved. The meal I ordered wasn’t really anything worth writing home about. Despite their very extensive menu, I can’t really rave about the soup nor the meal I consumed… Prices do not match quality of food by any means. Worth returning? I don’t think so in my opinion. I’m okay with patronizing other businesses before here.

Simply amazing. This place has its own spark and quirk. The food is absolutely above par if not excellent. We ordered the Tartine Baltique, Moules Normandes, and Soupe D’Oignon. The tartine was rather small, but it fitting if looking for something light. The salmon was fresh and the capers explosive. A perfect combination on toasted and buttered bread. The Soupe D’Oignon was slightly greasy, but it’s cheese so what do you expect? Small but warm, hearty, and filling, this soup is classic. Can’t really go wrong. I would say the Mussels were the best I have ever tasted. The mussels themselves were fresh but the part I would like to shine limelight most on is the broth it came in. The cream broth was stewed with the mussel’s flavor, celery, mushroom, and other vegetables. Very Normande. I am definitely coming back!

Bistrot du Coin is always lively and bustling with consistently outstanding food and drink. I can personally vouch for the escargot, moules bretonne, seafood ravioles, gratin d’endives, and steak frites — all excellent! The house wines are tasty and their wine list stocked with great wines at moderate prices. The beer list isn’t too shabby either. Best of all, a dinner with apps and drinks is reasonably priced and a great value, especially considering the food and location. Reservations recommended if you’re coming with a crowd — it can be annoying to wait at the cramped bar if you don’t have a seat — but I’ve never had to wait too long. Unfortunately, I don’t think they take reservations on weekends. Oh, and it’s great for out of town guests too — just an overall fabulous experience every time!
