Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

Beautiful! Absolutely stunning! I have always loved cathedrals and have found peace just walking through them, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC (the largest Cathedral in North America) is no exception! It’s located on the grounds of Catholic University and is within a 5 – 10 minute walk of the Brookland-​CU metro station (red line).
The Cathedral is lovely and you can walk through most of it. The murals and frescos are gorgeous and I visited during the holiday season, so it was bedecked with poinsettias and Christmas trees, and there’s a lovely Nativity scene near the entrance of the Cathedral as well.
The cathedral is majestic and there are so many beautiful areas to explore. The Pope visited this cathedral during his DC tour last September.
I would certainly return again, as I think my fiancé would love it as well!

Attended the morning mass they are only 30 mins long. Beautiful no stopping to ask for offering just straight to prayers and eucharist. I love this!
Today attended 12 noon mass beautiful too!
