How can you not love Barracks Row? Amazing restaurants, cute boutiques, great local businesses, marine barracks, and a HUGE sense of community. Having now been to three Barracks Row community events, their 4th of July parade, the Taste of 8th, and the Barracks Row Fall Festival, I can truly say the sense of community is awesome. Barracks Row is still in the process of revitalizing, with some gorgeous, newly-remodeled businesses next to some older, not-yet-remodeled businesses, which makes for an interesting combination. I personally love watching the transformation unfold. The great restaurants include Cava, Matchbox, Ted’s Bulletin, Belga, Banana Café, Las Placitas, and so many more. Barracks Row is also great for happy hour and/or brunch. The new Pacifico Cantina has a great roofdeck for margaritas! We also LOVE the Spring Mill Bakery, 32 and Below, and Sweet Lobby for baked goods and dessert. Hill’s Kitchen and Homebody are great local stores. My boyfriend goes to Brice’s Barber Shop to get his haircut because, as he says, «it’s a classic DC barbershop.» The atmosphere at Barracks Row is laid back, but fun. It truly is a community of people that love and care about the area. I’m very happy to say that I’m now a part of that community :)

I absolutely LOVELOVELOVE Barracks Row. In case you couldn’t tell ;) And the funny thing is I just realized as I’m writing this that my first statement almost identically matches that of the previous review. Obviously it’s that great. Other than being historic, Barrack’s Row has a little bit of everything for everyone. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, tourist attractions, a tattoo parlor… and they are all pretty much fantastic. This is probably my favorite neighborhood in the District next to Columbia Heights. I have visited a substantial number of the establishments here and am very well pleased. Parking can be so-so, but it’s probably better than most other areas on a Friday or Saturday night. Plus the Eastern Market stop is a block away. Do yourself a favor and visit BR if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed — it’s just so charming.

I love. Love. LOVE visiting Barracks Row for my eats and treats! My favs include: Molly Malone’s(great wings and bar food), Ted’s Bulletin(Poptarts!, strawberry shakes, Gut Buster burger and Walk of Shame breakfast burrito), Matchbox(there’s always a long wait, but the pizza, sliders and curbside view are well worth it), Fusion Grill(great Happy Hour deals. The Pork Dumplings, Szechuan with fried rice and Fusion Pimms is my go-to meal.), Banana Café and Piano Bar(everything with chicken… and Strawberry Margaritas!) and Las Placitas(runs neck and neck with Banana Café, but can still hold their own… and they have GOOD Margaritas!) I listed many spots, but there are so many more on my radar. Besides food and beverage, its a great place to people watch. Whether you’re ON8th Street or nearby, you’re bound to see some sights! It makes for interesting conversation over a meal. LOL
