Stopped in the other night for an early dinner and was pretty disappointed. We ordered a few items from the happy hour menu — buffalo sliders(mostly bun with ketchup, they forgot the cheese), a small mezze plate(decent), and«bruschetta»(turned out to be flatbread with marinara sauce and a tiny sprinkle of cheese shreds). Staff was friendly but hard to get their attention. Final straw: someone came over with a bottle of wine offering to refill our glasses — seemingly gracious offer of a complimentary glass — and then added it to the bill. Not worth going back.

We were four of us on Christmas Eve and we were very satisfied by the food that it was recommended us from the waiter on that night. We were really happy by the way we’ve been served from the personel. We enjoyed the sense of humor of the waiter and his skills in languages. Very good chosen staff and an exellent wine! Thank you!

I got the steak salad that used to be on the menu but was no longer on the menu. They charged me for more than what it used to be, there was a piece of hair and a piece of plastic in my salad, and when notifying the waiter he attempted to make excuses as to why that would have happened. When removing plates from the table he did so with no customer service skills at all considering we were only one of two tables that were seated at the time we went. The waiter did not give us the attention needed to fully understand requests and made many mistakes. The food was mediocre and did not live up to the expectation of the award it was given. I would not return here.

I had a gift cert for this place for the longest time. Id been meaning to go. I also live in the neighborhood and had been meaning to check it out. Its fairly small inside. Mostly two person tables. A nice bar. The menu is very diverse. Charcuterie, cheeses, tapas apps and variety of entrees and pizza. The wine selection was good and the gf loved her riesling. Beer selection was small but good and reasonably priced. Gf got the ny strip. Cooked perfectly. With asparagus and garlic mashed. She loved it. I ordered the beef pot pie but owner came by and tolde they were out of it. He couldnt have been nicer. I hot bison burger instead and it was great. Sometimes bison can be dry and flavorless but not this one. Shoestring fries were crispy and well spiced. The credit card machine was broken. So had to pay cash or leave card number. But overall great meal and service.

The happy hour was awesome, the food was okay. I definitely enjoyed the wine selection, the beer selection could be better.

Very pleasant setting. Not very noisy or full early on a Friday evening. Salmon and bison burger were tasty; fries with the latter were a bit soggy. Probably a fluke, but there were three errors in service: received lunch menus rather than dinner, a different beer than what I ordered and the burger had a smudge of ketchup on top the bun. Nonetheless, we will be happy to come back.

I’d gone by Acacia in the past, but if not for the $ 25 gift card burning a hole in my desk, I probably wouldn’t have gone in there. I ended up deciding to take a friend there for dinner, but looking over the reviews, I admit I was nervous: For everyone who raved about the place, there seemed to be someone who said it was subpar or worse. Was I going to catch them on a good night or a bad one? Well, I don’t know if I got them on a good night or if they’ve actually learned from the negative reviews, but after that dinner, I can certainly say I would be up for going back to try again. Their wine and booze list is very strong; I had a very nice Torrontes, and while the second wine I wanted to switch to ended up not being available, I was pleased with the range of selection. Food-wise, I had no real complaints — the chicken dish I ordered had a nice savory sauce and was very tasty(if a bit on the tough side), and what my friend’s steak lacked in looks, it more than made up for in taste. The only thing that kept this from being a five star experience was the service time — the place was not ridiculously crowded(although we certainly weren’t alone), but the entrees did take a while to come out. Suffice it to say, it was a noticeable wait. There were no such problems with the wine or the coffee we had later, but it certainly didn’t feel like the dishes we got were the kinds of things that had to be whipped up totally from scratch. The ambience, as well, also suffered slightly from the music being a bit too loud — not deafening by any stretch, and not loud enough to drown out conversations or require shouting, but loud enough that it wasn’t firmly in the background as music should be. Ultimately, though, if those are the worst parts of your experience here, it could be a lot worse — as reviews in the past have indicated. Hopefully that’s the old Acacia.

We LOVE this friendly bistro. Sitting at the wine bar or outside are favorites. Just had the Kale salad and the wonderful Lobster Ravioli-and this dish is on Par with Fiola Mare, its that good! The Owner is personal and always makes extra effort to please guests. Oh, and something not seen too much in DC is a high quality wine list(and stemware) offered at fair prices, not the usual inflated mark-ups. So go and enjoy this relaxing and high quality bistro!

Had the dinner special, and it was ok at best. The eggplant appetizer was cold and weird, would not recommend, Fettuccine Scampi was nothing to write home about, and my significant other made no comment about his mushroom risotto… I also had crème brûlée which was not very good and he had the mastic custard which I had no desire to indulge in. If your going… I say stick to the bar and drink.

I do really enjoy this spot. I’ve been here for dinner, happy hour, dates, and just a wash away the day glass of wine. The staff are terrific, the dinner menu is lovely, the happy hour food menu is not to be missed, and yes the wine is varied and delightful. The beer-drinking BF loves the tap beer selection. There is always a neighborhood vibe from the welcoming regulars at the bar(staff and management inclusive). Patio is surprisingly chill given proximity to a major thoroughfare. Seriously, come give this spot a try!

The food is outstanding and everything is obviously homemade. It’s known as a wine bar, but they have a pretty good beer selection too. This is a great place to come for everything from a quiet date or if you just want a nice dinner alone. I’ve seen some comments about the service, and yes, it might be a little slower and not bubbly, but it’s the same pace as when I’ve gone out in my visits to Europe. I enjoy not being pushed out so the table can be turned. Overall, this is a great neighborhood spot and deserves consideration among the best restaurants in the area.

Tale of two wine bars: My boyfriend and I went to Acacia about a month ago and had a wonderful time. We like to sit at the bar wherever we go and order food and drink lots of wine. The owner, Turker(sp?) served us and couldn’t have been nicer and more gracious. He made sure that the regulars who frequent the bar made space for us(they leave their stuff at the bar to save their space while they smoke outside). He gave us great wine suggestions and was very attentive. The food we ordered was delicious, and the ambiance was very European. We eat out a lot, so we were excited to have found a gem where we too might become regulars. Flash forward to the other night. Once again when we came in, we were hoping to find seats at the bar, but the young lady who was bartending(Turker was not there) seemed to be more concerned about disturbing the stuff of the regulars who were outside smoking than making sure we found a space to sit. She could not have been more disinterested in us; it felt like our presence at the bar was inconveniencing her. We came to have dinner and drink wine and beer(we like our beverages so usually end up spending quite a bit of money). After a few minutes she took our drink order, and we ordered a cheese plate as a starter. Forty minutes later our cheese plate finally arrived in front of us – we could see it sitting under a heat lamp for half an hour before it arrived — so when it finally came it was warm and melting. The cheese itself was underwhelming as well, but I was so hungry at that point, I ate it. We decided there was no way we would order any more food — I felt like there was a good chance the place would close for the night before we actually got anything to eat. So we went down the street to Macon, where they treat us very well and had our dinner and beverages. Moral of the story — if you come in and want to sit at the bar and the owner is not there — run!

The risotto was divine. Did I mention the risotto was really good. The owner was so welcoming, but the staff needs to smile and support his effort. We dined during a thunderstorm and the big windows gave us a great light show.

After walking and driving numerous by this restaurant, I finally decided to have dinner at the Bistro. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit in the patio!!! Service was great, so was the food! A little pricey but everything was delicious! I would recommend the pistachio trinity dessert! It was mouth watering! I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place was quite busy at the bar. Not a whole lot of activity initially in table seating, but even that picked up pretty quickly. The server was pleasant and was doing well for the amount she had to manage seemingly by herself. Appetizers of Lentil Soup and Brussels Sprouts were nice options, but simply lacked seasoning. I can’t remember the last time I added salt and pepper at the table, but once we did the flavors were much improved. We opted for the Rock Fish and Salmon entrees. Both were cooked nicely. Flavors of the entrees were much better. While convenient to home, this is not a place that we are likely to frequent, but we hope you like it.

Love, love, love this place. Great food, great wine! Great owner, he was closing up, but brought out a bottle and had a nightcap with us and another table. Its a little pricey, so i can’t go often. Definitely worth a splurge, though!

Went to Acacia with a group of thirteen for a late dinner. While the food was decent(I recommend the pappardelle), the service was definitely underwhelming. It took an extremely long time for drinks to arrive, and we had to ask several times for bread and for a place setting. They neglected to tell us that the system didn’t take a certain amount of credit cards and did not work with us in a friendly or accommodating manner to solve the issue. They charged us an overwhelming tip for honestly mediocre service, and I’m being generous with the three stars.

Had an early dinner on the patio, which is quite lovely and perfect on a summer evening. A chef was grilling out for the evening on the patio which is what tempted us to stop. My husband had the special of the evening, steak, rice, asparagus. The steak and asparagus were grilled, and both were outstanding. I had two small plates: the gnocchi and the fried polenta. The gnocchi was below average as compared to what I make at home and what I’ve had from other restaurants, but my husband and I both agreed that the fried polenta was the best bite of food we’ve had in a while. Topped with mushrooms and a port cream sauce, it was crispy, earthy, buttery, warm(someone stop me), and indulgent. We both had two drinks which made it a pricier outing for a weeknight meal, but we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We will be back and hope to have the same pleasant experience!

I was in the area because my Wife works down the street and I decided to swing by this place because I ran a search for a place with Bison Burgers. Acacia was closest so I called ahead and ordered the burger, which only comes with fries. The burger was a dried patty of meat about 3 ½ inches across, dwarfed inside a white bun easily double the patties diameter. The menu described«hand cut fries», which were easily identified as the notorious squiggly, frozen french fry the likes of which you might find in the middle school cafeteria. I ate the patty plain, with a bit of ketchup and threw away the bun and fries. Wont be going back.
