Great place with good food and relaxing atmosphere. My fiend and I found it on Unilocal and decided to go there for a coffee. We had smoked salmon sandwiches which were very tasty. Highly recommend it for breakfast!

Love the atmosphere here. Lots of open space for meetings, dates, and lunch. We tried a few of their baked desserts: lemon bar, chocolate hazelnut biscotti, marshmallow chocolate bar, and the gluten free blondie. From those the best dessert was probably the gluten free blondie! I’m not inclined to try the rest of the desserts a second time. We also ordered their matcha latte, mocha latte, and regular coffee. All the coffee drinks were good, nothing spectacular. I think I would return to this place again more so for the atmosphere. Came back to try their gluten free chocolate cookie dolce ice cream sandwich! We returned to get another bite of the oatmeal cookie blueberry ice cream sandwich! The mandarin cake tasted like a very moist pound cake with pieces of canned tangerines. HAHA. Not bad, but not something I’d order again.

Pretty solid coffee spot with a bright modern deco interior. The place has all the established coffee staples, a good nitro cold brew and some tasty pastries. There’s also an outdoor seating section. The staff is very patient and friendly.

As others have mentioned A Baked Joint is owned by the same people as Baked & Wired. Baked & Wired I enjoy(and prefer over Georgetown Cupcakes tenfold) but the last several times I’ve walked by it the line has always been crazy/out-the-door. This store does not have cupcakes but is far more roomy and has a nice menu with a decent amount of breakfast/lunch options. The line for A Baked Joint still can get crazy on the weekends, especially during morning/lunch time but when I show up later on in the day the line is nonexistent(definitely preferable for me). Onto the food/drink — I’ve had the cheesy focaccia, persian nectar iced tea on draft(super refreshing peach flavored black tea– perfect for a hot day), dirty chai, ice cream sandwich(oatmeal cookie with vanilla/blueberry ice cream), strawberry pie, and mixed berry peach pie. All were pretty good– the pies and ice cream sandwich(especially the oatmeal cookie– delicious!) were on point. I’d skip the dirty chai but I’d get everything else again. And the prices are reasonable for the quality. Definitely a stop worth making if you’re in the neighborhood.

First off the food was great. I had a goat cheese egg sandwich for breakfast and an iced tea and it was amazing. However, I gave the review a 3 because this place is nearly impossible to find! It’s a huge restaurant front, but there is no sign out front. I walked by the place numerous times and it looked busy, but my map kept telling me to go else where. Finally, I gave up on my search and walked into the busy place — opening the door I see a small sign with the company’s name, it was the same place I had walked by numerous times! Just get a big sign or a free standing sign in the front! It’s an awesome place and I would hate for ppl to not go there because of lack of documentation.

Delicious biscuit sandwich with cheese and fried egg!!! I could have easily eaten 3, it was that good. Their oatmeal with berries and almonds was also good. Really cute and inviting set up too. Highly recommended for breakfast. Bonus — outdoor seating!

Perfect place to get away from the rain. It was an hour to closing and the place was nearly empty except for a couple of tables. I had the pernil sandwich and for dessert after, the boy blue ice cream sandwich. The pernil sandwich came on a baguette and the texture of the bread was so good. Just the right amount of crunch and softness. They bake it right on premise. You can even see the huge oven they have. The meat was pretty good too but I was not crazy about the sauce it came with since it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The boy blue ice cream is two oatmeal cookies with vanilla ice cream with a swirl of blueberry. It was good, both the ice cream and the cookies and there were actual blueberries too.

As could be expected from Baked and Wired’s sister restaurant everything we had was perfect. Get the goat cheese and herb biscuit with a fried egg and tomato. It was a true delight. My americano was good as well, but damn that biscuit! The wide open space was a nice change from many crowded DC establishments. But while we avoided a line by getting there right when they opened on a Sunday, as we were leaving around 9 the lines was already forming. It would have been worth waiting for regardless.

I love this place! The interior is filled with open spaces to lounge and lots of big windows for sunlight, rustic wooden tables, and comfy seating of all different shapes and sizes. It’s everything that makes a coffee shop in the city vibrant with a touch of hipster and adds charm to the transforming neighborhood. I actually had my bridal rehearsal dinner in the back lounge of A Baked Joint and everything was perfection. Not only did I have my rehearsal dinner here, but I’m a frequent because I’m in love with the pastries, the food, and the open concept. It’s perfect for quiet time and hanging out with friends. I believe this place is sister to Baked & Wired, which I believe have the best cupcakes in DC(yes, compared to Georgetown Cupcakes and Sprinkles). My favorite items are the chaidar(perfect combination of apple cider and chai), the fresh baguette made daily, the apricot crunch bar, the hippie crack, the salmon breakfast open face sandwich, the OMG bar, and the biscuit with herbs and goat cheese. The pastries and food are reasonably priced because the ingredients are so fresh and literally, Scrumptious, Delicious, and a bite of Heaven.

yummy! i am a big fan of baked and wired in georgetown and was super excited to hear they opened up a new spot with different items. i came out one morning with my cousins for breakfast. i heard that the biscuit sandwich was awesome so i had to have it of course. it did not disappoint and it is deceptively filling. with a group, we were able to share some additional items like the pain au raisin and slice of chocolate cake(yes, for breakfast). on the weekends they do crème brûlée french toast but unfortunately they were sold out. oh well… an excuse to go back! the space is really open and inviting. i love that people are really respectful of the space reserved for dining. we were able to find a spot for the 6 of us to sit which is i feel like unheard of in DC for a café. there is no wifi but probably for the better. have a convo with your friend! and don’t linger around on your laptop :)

A café that serves coffee AND drinks? Sounds like my kind of place. My boyfriend loves A Baked Joint so I had to stop by during my trip to DC. I only ordered the DC mule but I can definitely see myself coming back if I’m ever in town again. I love the chill/trendy atmosphere and the fact that they have plenty of seating. If you’re looking for a place to study/use your laptop, this is not the café for you. I appreciate the fact that they purposefully don’t have wifi. Unlike most other cafes you visit, you won’t find people sitting with their laptops or staring at their phones. Pretty much everyone here was engaged in conversation and not using technology when I came in. Very refreshing.

Pretty standard coffee here. For a place rated 4.5 stars I was a little let down. The inside is spacious and well lit. They have an extensive menu but my friends and I ordered 2 lattes and a macchiato. The girl taking our order did not look happy to be there. Service is just ok, I didn’t get a friendly vibe. A lot of the tables at this joint are very low– we had to crouch over to attend to our drinks. Our backs hurt. One thing I appreciated was that our drinks were labeled by what they were and who made them! I thought it was cool to know. My decaf vanilla latte was good, I liked that it was served hotter than most lattes, considering the 30s wind chill. My friends matcha latte was a favorite, they use soy milk and it’s not too bitter. My other friends macchiato was too bitter so he had to add sugar. We were surprised to find out that this place closes at 8. Also there’s no Wi-Fi here.

After hearing about this café from a blogger I’m stupidly obsessed with(Love Taza… her photography and adventures with her family give me wanderlust every time), I hopped on Unilocal to bookmark it. Well, lo and behold some of the Elite Unilocalers I’ve come to trust most, have also written raving reviews for this café. I popped in on a Saturday and the line took fifteen minutes to get through but I’d do it again and again for their expertly-pulled espresso and those indulgently buttery baked goods! I’ve now had their cappuccino, chai latte, steel cut oatmeal with fruit and almonds, and apple turnover. I’ve come to the conclusion that you can’t go wrong with anything at this place. The biggest thing that impressed me though, is their barista. I appreciate a barista who knows their stuff and this guy was really on top of things. He gave each individual drink his full attention, kept a clean espresso machine as he worked, and despite the solid 40+ person line the café maintained through the two hours I was there he managed to keep a chill and friendly demeanor. Thank you, A Baked Café, for being hipster and friendly. What a rare combination.

I never thought oatmeal could change my life but their savory oatmeal did just that. In town for a conference, a friend and I trekked over here for some good coffee and breakfast. The layout is open with many different seating arrangements and waiting bars. Don’t be afraid of the line – it is worth the wait. While in line or at your table, strike up a conversation with a local. Chances are they will help make you a devotee of this place like them if the food or great prices didn’t convert you already. I ordered drip coffee and the savory oatmeal. They let me get my coffee in my own mug, and it tasted great! At just over $ 2 it is a steal. Now for the oatmeal. I have never had a savory oatmeal before. Their’s comes with kale, ham and a poached egg. I debated getting something on the side like their greens in case the oatmeal wasn’t enough. I am glad I decided against it. I «savored» each bite of the oatmeal. It is creamy but light, chewy and filling. Next time: I saw a breakfast sandwich inside of scone go by me. Looked amazing. I will have to try that next and perhaps convert you ;)

A solid 4.7 stars. Having gone here on a Sunday, I know we should’ve expected some kind of a delay but boy was it crowded. Even though it was crowded, we were able to grab a bench with some small weird looking tables :) the service was super fast, again considering how many people were there. Loved their open floor kitchen allowing me to watch the cute barista preparing my matcha latte with coffee art(a must for me lol). The latte was tasty. I also had a Biscuit Sammie — perfect breakfast! Biscuit Sammie was a super soft medium size biscuit with a choice of chorizo cilantro or goat cheese and an egg smacked right in the middle of it all — yum! And while o don’t recall exactly how much I made, but I remember it was a decent price for DC breakfast. I can definitely see myself going back!

Having shopped for grocery regularly at Safeway around the corner for the past years, I had no idea the Baked Joint was just down the street. My husband and I finally paid a visit after inviting some out of town guests for snacks and coffee. We came around 11am and the line was 45 mins before you can place your order at the counter long. There was no seats available either so my husband and friends split to scout for a table while I waited patiently in line. While in line, I debated back and forth between wanting a full brunch meal or light snack. If light snack — savory or sweet?! So many choices — 45 mins didn’t feel as long when you are constantly flip-flopping back and forth! Ultimately, seeing the baker brought out a fresh batch of strawberry # cake, I decided i was going to treat myself to a slice. Aside, their sister store is baked and wired — how can I say no to their sweet treat? I paired that with their house drip coffee(one free refill) and got my husband a mile high maple black tea. It got quite confusing and disorganized after my order was placed. No one seemed to be in charge of fulfilling my drink order. But thankfully the barista saw me waiting(what appeared to be nothing) and checked in with me. My black drip paired with whole milk was strong and aromatic. My husband really enjoyed his freshly brewed tea with honey. I appreciate that they save your loose tea leafs for a second steep. Who would expect such thoughtful approach of tea from a coffee shop? The strawberry # cake was the best decision I made all week. Moist, buttery, and lightly sweetened — washing down with my black drip was the perfect pairing! I wouldn’t mind standing back in line every week for another slice(or two). Overall — Definitely have to save my stomach to return for more of their sweet items and brunch menu! Just one coffee alone I can see why the baked joint had a line snaking through the door!

Delicious place to come for a unique breakfast. Came here with some out of town guests. Found it on Unilocal. It was close to their hotel and looked like something different for breakfast. It was a very nice restaurant. Maybe a little«hip» but everyone we dealt with was sweet. I had the meat and cheese Sammie. I loved the biscuit. Never really had anything like that before. My friends also had sandwiches and one friend got the toast with PB, siracha and cilantro. He was skeptical but wanted to try something different. He said afterwards that they were def on to something with that flavor combo and he’s going to make that again at home. My only problems with this place were the drinks and food came scattered so one friend was done with his sandwich before his drink(a coffee) was ready. Also, when busy, it’s hard to hear your name when they call you to pick up your food. But I def enjoyed the food and think it was a nice place to try. Would go back and would recommend to friends. Next time I’d like to try one of the awesome looking deserts they had.

Awesome spot! Stopped by briefly during my roadtrip to DC for the cherry blossoms. I LOVE the huge, open space and open kitchen. It’s so inviting and the lighting is great. This is the perfect type of hang out spot I’d come to weekly if it were in my neighborhood — for catching up with a friend or getting some work done or just reading the paper while enjoying some coffee. It’s a totally different feel than going to your local Starbucks. I ordered the dirty Chai and the goat cheese&herbs biscuit with a fried egg. The dirty chai was aromatic and delightful. The biscuit seems to be a popular item — each order before mine was the same. I totally understood the second I bit in to mine. This biscuit was incredible! So. Buttery. Crumbly on the outside with a fluffy, pillowy center. There were pockets of goat cheese in every other bite and the fried egg was a great addition. I loved this and ate every last crumb. This will totally be my first stop if I ever make it back to DC. Solid spot.

Baked and Wired has stolen my heart once again– this time by disguising itself as a breakfast place! The meat/cheese biscuit sammie and plain, pipin’ hot latte in a mug– All I need on a Saturday morning to start the weekend right! B&W sells the tasty biscuits on its own and but here they add a fried egg and mayo! The NC country ham sandwich is quite tasty as well, but pales in comparison to the biscuit sammie. Got a Boy Blue ice cream sammie here when a friend was visiting even though it was 30 degrees and windy out. IT’S SOGOOD. Vanilla ice cream with blueberry swirls between oatmeal cookies. Love love LOVE. This place gets jammmm packed by 11AM but there’s plenty of community tables and bleacher-like seating to just chill and read that book that you’ve been neglecting. Yeah, this place is worth the drive to get into DC just to have brunch here. Street parking aplenty, so brush up on your parallel parking skills!

This place is really cute and a fantastic place to work(if I was working), but I wasn’t, so I was just able to enjoy the environment, have some pastries/cakes, and drink some good coffee. I was here to meet an old friend and her new baby, and it was perfect! Good lighting, open and airy, with a slight buzz in the background. There are plenty of seats for both diners and workers, at least when I was here, but I’m sure it gets really busy at certain times. Prices are moderate, but you’re getting good quality stuff. I tried the marshmallow cake, which was very interesting! Thin layers of chocolate, but a giant layer of marshmallow, which makes splitting the cake with a fork a big challenge. The cookies were decent too.
