Cafe Bliss

happened to walk by during a visit to DC and was pleasantly surprised by this little spot, got a nice iced coffee and the lovely woman behind the counter even waived the credit card minimum for me, since she didn’t have enough change for my cash.

Love this small coffee shop for their lattes, breakfast sandwiches, and muffins. The staff is always friendly and fast. I like that I can call ahead from union station and pick it up on my way to work.
My favorite:
–Almond Joy latte
–Raspberry Mocha latte
–Any breakfast sandwich
–Any muffin
I wish for:
–More seating
–No credit card limit
–Longer hours (after work coffee/​snack)
Other than that, they’re conveniently located for anyone who works at the nearby Senate buildings like myself who don’t want to buy the cheap-​tasting coffee from work.

Quaint little café. Stop in while waited for our capital tour to get warm. Very friendly staff and quick, courteous service. Highly recommend.

This place is a small coffee shop with a good selection of drinks and a limited selections of sandwiches. Everything I have tried to far has been good. I usually order the Turkey Swiss Sandwich and the Milky Way Frappachino.

Nice little coffee shop near Capitol Hill. It’s tiny but the flavors are mighty!
Really enjoy their raspberry mocha coffee, it’s delicious when served hot but as I discovered recently, it’s heaven when served cold.
Customer service is fast and pretty good and they have outside seating as well.
Really enjoy this place, always a nice alternative to Starbucks.

Strictly got a banana and a granola bar but the workers were very kind and the atmosphere seemed so chill and quaint!

If I could I would give Café Bliss 3.5 stars. As precious Unilocalers have stated this is a hole-​in-​the-​wall coffee joint where you can grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and maybe even a bite to eat. While this isn’t the place to go to if latte art is what you desire, you can still grab a decent cup of coffee It’s conveniently located near many office buildings on the hill. I think what I found to be really unique was that you can get café drinks that taste like chocolate candy bars like a Snickers or a Milky Way! I opted for the Snickers Latte and it was pretty good! My only suggestion would be to give your drink an extra stir so that all the flavors can really blend together!
My friend got a chai tea latte and a fruit salad. The fruit was sweet and fresh! I think her only complaint was that her drink was too sweet, but I’m sure if you ask you can get the amount of sugar reduced!
For me personally my most disappointing part of my visit was my breakfast sandwich. I think for what I paid I wish there was more just a croissant, sausage and cheese. And yes, I could’ve paid extra for bacon but being on a budget makes you want to save money where you can! Can’t speak for the other sandwiches or food choices they have here though!
As for seating and service? Staff was helpful and sweet. They brought me my sandwich when it was ready and didn’t mind that my friend and I took some time trying to figure out what we wanted. Seating inside is limited, however there is a little seating outside on the patio. Other than that, you’re on your own and your best bet is to grab your coffee (and/​or food) to go!
Also $ 3 minimum if you’re going to pay with card!

This tiny coffee shop near the Senate office buildings is a hidden gem. Coffee is solid, and the service is always pleasant. One of the better coffee options on the Hill. Limited seating, small bar inside and two tables outside. Only issue is that they do not accept Amex…

Fresh. Inexpensive. Tasty.

I had the Milky Way latte and it was delicious! Very nice women there and the café itself was so clean!

Bliss has got decent coffee for cheap. I’ve also never had to wait behind someone when I need a cup. The lady behind the counter is always pleasant enough to get some of my money in her jar. Can’t say much else as I always get in then get to work.

Clean and convenient café located just down the street from the Hart Building. The owners are very personable and I always enjoy talking with them. The drip coffee is strong and smooth, the iced coffee has an appropriate ice to coffee ratio (yay!!), and the sandwiches are tasty, especially the spicy tuna. I like that they also sell locally made vegan cookies and other baked goods, as well as ice cream. The space is small but there is outdoor seating.
Sure it might be faster and less sweaty of a jaunt to go to the Dirksen cafeteria for coffee and a sandwich but going to Café Bliss is worth the fresh air and exercise because it has quality food and coffee. I wholeheartedly support local businesses especially when they are as well-​run and clean as Café Bliss!

It’s been a while since Neb’s turned into Café Bliss and nothing has really changed but the name. The sandwiches and pastas are all the same, the teas and coffees haven’t changed, and the service is still doing their best to keep up when they get a rush.
But for the most part, it’s still a convenient little coffee shop for Senate staffers when they need a break from the office.

Pretty much all the old reviews for Nebs still apply. This place is small with only a few bar stool seats. They have decent sandwiches and muffins and cookies etc plus pretty good smoothies.
They are pleasant and friendly and this place attracts a lot of senate staff.

Great tasting well made coffee. They make a Red-​eye Drink here – coffee with a shot or two of espresso. Delicious! Great bagels and sandwiches. Ice cream too. Inside counter space and outside tables. No Internet though. Ps ATM inside.
