They will take your merchandise in a heartbeat. But you will never see your money! I consigned over 45 items last fall after downsizing my home. After about 6 months I checked in to see how things were going. All but 1 item sold. Couldn’t tell me how much each item sold for, as it’s coded. And oh, some items were slashed in price to move them out. So, can I get paid now? NO, you have to come in, personally, the first week of the month. So I did. Can I get paid now? NO, we send you a check in 2MONTHS. I anxiously await my check, 2 months later, no check. After numerous emails and phone calls, I finally was able to speak to Jarred. «We just changed over to computer generated checks, so probably be another 2 months»” Are you kidding me? That’s not my problem, YOU told me the process to follow, which I did, and still no check for my sold items. Jarred said finally that he would send me a check, that was over 3 weeks ago! Still no check! Do not consign here.

I have never written an online review before because I have never had such a disturbing experience with any other business. Treasure Brokers may be a great place for a bargain, but consignors beware! I consigned a Drexel mahogany dining room set in excellent condition in November of 2013. The furniture sold in late December, but then the trouble began. After moving to a small apartment I returned to the store at the end of February 2014. I was told that to be compensated by check, I would have to submit a request form in the store during the first week of March. I was surprised and annoyed since it was almost March 1 and I lived some distance away. They agreed to accept the form as received on March 1 and then I would receive a payment in the mail on April 30! I was horrified. I have never had to wait 60 days for a payment in any of my previous consignments. Then I waited. April 30 came and went and no check arrived. I waited about a week and returned to the store. Their response was the check should be in the mail. I waited again for another week. No check. I tried to call, but their phone message went on and on about the store but left no option to leave a message. I then sent an email through their website. They responded by email that they would send me a cashier’s check. I said that would be fine so long as I received the check by the end of the week. The week ended and again no check. I emailed again and this time their response was delayed. I returned to the store. Jarred and his mother were there, but there were no customers! This time I told them I was concerned that they were not going to pay me and I was prepared to take further action. Jarred said he would have to go out to get me a Western Union check and would mail it to me by the next day. Five days later I finally received my payment. Both Jarred and his mother are very pleasant, but I would not trust them. I believe they had no intention of paying me until I finally threatened further action. If you want a bargain, fine, but if you are looking to consign go elsewhere.

DONOTCONSIGNWITHTHEM! The owners are a mother/son team, and they are simply awful to deal with. One will lie, and the other will swear to it. They were nice, friendly, and responsive, until they had my merchandise in their store. Then the EVASIVENESS began. They generally didn’t respond to emails or phone messages. When they did, they didn’t answer the questions I asked. They never let me know that the merchandise had sold; I had to figure that out for myself. Once I did, they were very reluctant to tell me the selling price. Then the CHASE began. You have to request payment between the 1st and the 8th of the month after your items sell. I tried to do it by calling Jarred(the owner), he wouldn’t accept my payment request by phone; he made me go the website and request payment there. Really?! They refused to answer simple questions, such as, «how much did the items sell for» and, «when can I expect payment?». Email, no response. Call, no response. Wait a week and repeat, no response. This went on for two months! Then it got NASTY. After several threats to take them to small claims court, contact the Better Business Bureau, and get an attorney involved, they finally responded. And not nicely. Their correspondence portrayed the whole thing as my fault. I suggested this was all because of their consistent lack of response, and they accused me of being a poor customer. Then the DECEIT began. Of course, the evasiveness, the chase, and the nastiness continued. I finally got them to send me a settlement sheet. At this point, I wondered if they were providing me with the accurate selling prices. I do not have any evidence to suggest they weren’t; I just didn’t trust them. Doing the math, it turns out they only planned to pay me 50% of the selling price instead of 55%, which is stated in the contract. It seems they preferred for me not to figure that out. I asked them why and they pretty much told me to sue them if I didn’t like it. BOTTOMLINE: The items I consigned sold in February. I had to fight tooth and nail to get paid; one check at the end of April and one check at the beginning of June, and cheated 5%, maybe more. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. To anyone. STAYAWAY!!!

I LOVE this store, the estate sales and the people who run them. Once you’ve made your way to the store or a sale, you’ll feel like you’ve received a big welcome into a treasure hunters family. There are some truly unique home furnishings, artwork and jewelry, something for every budget. If you have a truck, take it! You never know what you’ll find that you just have to take home with you, big and small. Thanks for helping me with my coupons and discounts… I saved a bunch of $$ on top of the already great prices of the pieces I bought today. Pauline M.

Went in today. The owner or people who work there are a bunch of zero personality snobs! Not even an acknowledgment from the THREE people working behind the counter just three stares then back to what they were doing. A younger gentleman and two older women. The place was crammed with stuff… some really good but because of the lack of common courtesy we experienced I would NEVER buy anything from there or go back again. Sorry, I own a business and I would never treat a customer walking into my establishment like that. And if my employees did? They would be fired. Get it together Jarred.

I personally love this place. The ever changing inventory of mostly well selected furniture is what keeps me coming back time after time in hopes of a score. I will say that items tend to be priced on the high side, but Jarred and his mom make up for it in their charm and product knowledge. Be forewarned it’s country tunes ALL the time on their radio.

Jarred’s is a cute store. It needs more, MUCH more space. It is extremely cramped. It tends to have nice discounts and good local deals(like a $ 25 store credit for $ 12.50)

Jarred’s is now doing estate sales around RI. Went to one in Jamestown and scored a totally fantastic printer for a ridiculous price! Electronics are always a bit of a gamble, but I won this time! To get alerts for the sales, go to and look under Providence. You can also set up email alerts for specific cities.

I have been here on several occasions, and although there are many nice pieces of antique furniture, odds & ends, etc. I find the prices to be a bit high. The place is clean, and there is plenty of parking. You can sign up to be on their email list to be notified of upcoming sales, but even then I found the prices too high.

Great store! I did a Google search for«RI Estate Sales» and that is how I found them. I was surprised to find that I could view their entire inventory right online, pay for what I want, and zoom right on over and pick it up. My new table was an amazing deal and is a well-made dovetail beauty. I thought they had a great selection, but was told they are actually«low» of stuff, but this is the season for more to come in. A huge bonus was the owner’s adorable Sheltie(Sophie?) who was holding court and greeting visitors that afternoon. :)

Old and new Jarred’s is a consignment and antique store tucked away on a small street. It’s not particular easy to find but it’s definitely worth the effort if you like digging around and looking at furniture and homegoods. Jarred’s isn’t a Salvation Army type thrift store and the quality of merchandise is much higher. Some stuff is quite expensive but other items are very resonable. You will find some strange and unusual things but no really junky crap like you get at thrift stores. A lot of the area is taken up by tables, chairs, bookcases and other furniture but if you look a bit you can find art, jewelry, antiques and unique knick knacks and doo dads. Lots of stuff is packed in the store and out in front. A nice place to check out if you are looking for some nice used or perhaps antique furniture. Of course the inventory is always changing so you never know what you will find and that adds to the fun. A cool place to find that special thingie that you might not even know you need.
