I like Salk’s. Local place with a little bit of everything. Are the prices the cheapest? Well no, probably not. But it’s right down the road from me, people are friendly and helpful, and you can find all kinds of useful items you didn’t know you needed.
Parking’s easy and the store is clean. Sometimes it just so much nicer to go to a smaller place than to the big box stores. Actually, Salk’s is bigger than it appears from the outside, lots of corners and back areas to explore.
Also, if you get in their system, periodically you will get discount coupons in the mail.

After failing to find ice melt at my local big box store, I figured I better head to a hardware store instead. It’s small, but it’s a lot more pleasant than it’s chain competitors.
Despite the previous days winter storm, they had a variety of ice melt/​salt etc and service was pleasant. They offered to bring the 50lb bag to car, which was very sweet.
I wandered the isles and they seemed to offer all the regular hardware/​home improvement stuff.

I am not handy, I do not do home improvements BUT I did go here with my boyfriend the other day to pick up some items to finish up our fence. Super friendly staff. Not just one but THREE people asked us if we needed help while we were there. I like the smaller feel as opposed to the Home Depots or Lowes of the world where you need to hunt someone down to grab you something fro the highest shelf ever built. The selection looked pretty all encompassing and we left with everything we needed in hand. Job well done Ace.

A hardware marine type store located conveniently on Rt. 117. It’s not as small as the old fashion places but not as huge as the massive, impersonal home improvement places. Just the right size to probably find what you want but still get the personal service you might need.
The store has all the usual bolts, nuts, hinges and tools and also has some marine stuff thrown in. It even has a table with reduced items in the front. The people working there know what they are talking about and take the time to make sure you can actually make use of whatever it is you’re buying. A good store for someone who knows they need something but isn’t always sure exactly what that something is.
