Bar Louie

Went with friends for lunch — had drinks before and wanted coffee afterwards. We were told they were out of coffee. ?? Is anyone managing this place — a grocery store is a block away, send someone down to buy some to tide you over — it’s called Customer Service.

Went to a nearby movie with the idea that we would eat at Bar Louie’s afterwards to try a new place. Coincidentally, right after the movie let out we overheard a woman in the theater telling her friend that Bar Louie’s was awful. So thinking that someone was sending me a message, wifey and I decided to try Janney’s (chinese) next to the theater. It was closed for repairs. Hopefully that was the REAL reason… but since we’ve had many an excellent meal there, I’ve got to give them the benefit of the doubt.
So for grins and giggles, we ended up trying the new Bar Louie anyway. We found a hostess who said they have a table for two right away. I was impressed as this was a busy saturday night. We were seated and no waitress came for 10 minutes. Finally a harried and overwhelmed waitress came by only to tell us she would be with us in a few minutes. We are understanding so we waited for her to come back. When she did, we were informed that the current wait for food was one hour. She nicely suggested we go elsewhere if we wanted to eat before then. After feeling the cosmic message at work, wifey and I left to go to MaGerks in Horsham for a fair meal. She had a stamped cheeseburger and I had wings and a beer.
So I’m still wondering if we should ever try Bar Louie’s again??? Open to suggestions but based on what I’ve read in Unilocal,we should be wary.

We went in for lunch, service was wonderful. We all ate from the appetizer menu, we started with the wings and nachos my wife and I had the shrimp tampora my daughter had the meatball app. All of them were terrific. The beer selection was great. I still can not say enough how great the service was.

I was really excited about checking this location out, the one in Bensalem was really nice.
We ordered the appetizer tater tots for the table and I have to say, they were the best part about the meal even though they were soggy. Their boneless wings were dry and disappointing. When we asked for ranch they gave us blue cheese because they make their ranch «in house» and wouldn’t have it «ready in time»… The Louie Burger was served in a basket with a piece of wax paper that couldn’t hold the grease that was dripping from God knows what. The chicken tacos were tasteless and when we asked for hot sauce the waitress questioned it. The rice that came with it was undercooked. The plates for the appetizers were disgusting. They do not wash their dishes. The two stars are for the drinks, those were made well. This is definitely a place to ONLY get drinks. The atmosphere is beautiful but don’t let that fool you. $ 100 for nothing.

Bar louie is a great place. The food is good and the people are awesome. They have a great happy hour with half price apps can’t beat that.

Met friends for happy hour. Place was dead. Still could not get service. Food orders came out completely wrong. Bartenders not at all interested in selling drinks. Had to practically beg for refills. 3 stars for the fun time we had anyway

I wouldn’t feed the food to my dog. Beer list blows. The beers are the trendy IPA shit. I was hoping for a local bar to step it up and give me a reason to return. Guess its back to the old faithfuls.

Quite a disappointment! From entering from the back and having no direction about seating or a hostess station at the other end of the place, to coffee coming in a dirty mug, to the take out Mac and cheese being dumped into a styrofoam container then flipped over… totally disappointed. Not worth a return trip. Oh, and yes the drinks are over-​priced.

Is anyone in charge? The mensroom inside port authority is cleaner. Bartenders were friendly but absent from the bar. After 40 minutes for a beer and an appetizer, I came to the sad conclusion that this place was not any better than Applebee’s or tgif’s. Disappointing. The bus boy was the only one that noticed I wanted the check. To be clear, no one was unpleasant, the calamari was fine. This place is the most obvious example of an established brand without someone to guide the staff. The management needs to wake up!

I never write reviews. But I’ve had two terrible experiences here and I just had to this time. First visit, we walk in and there is no hostess station, and no sign telling us we can seat ourselves. When we chose a table it took 15 minutes for a server to come by. When she did, she was hesitant and not happy about being at work. It took a long time to get drinks, and a different person brought us our food. We waited about a half hour for her to come back after we got our appetizer. Also the beer was terrible, clearly the bottom of the keg. This observations was confirmed the next day when i ordered the same beer and they told me they had to change out the keg. So we got the check and went to chickies and petes up the road, where we got drinks, fries and a burger in about 15 minutes.
We returned once more for happy hour, to use our free app and give bar Louie a second chance. Sat at the bar, waited ten minutes to be acknowledged (the place was dead) and then a DIFFERENT bartender took our drink order, then our original bartender was confused when she returned. Overall, grumpy disconnected service, and we will not return. We really did give it a good try. But NEVER AGAIN.

Food was ok, but service was… I can’t even tell you it was not even there, four bartenders for a packed bar and when it was clearing out they cleared out
shouldn’t take 20 min to get a beer with an empty bar and one bartender told us they were out of Miller lite and another bartender gave us Miller lite 20 min later. Tvs were dirty or half of the screen was red? Too many great bars in area to go there again.

Nice looking place but definitely still working the kinks out on the service side. When you enter there is no one to greet you, we had to walk over to the bar to learn we seat ourselves. After sitting we waited a good 5 – 7 minutes for our waiter to come over and say «I’ll be back in a few minutes». He at least should have taken our drink order right then. After another few minutes he came back and took our order. Drinks came quickly. Our waiter recovered a bit and caught that my son needed a refill.
I ordered the fish tacos and they brought out everything for the tacos — except the soft shells. I then sat at the table for 10 minutes waiting for the shells while my food got cold which obviously effected the taste. I won’t order them again as the fish was bland.
My son ordered the Sesame Tuna sandwich which he said was very good. The waiter was attentive in refilling our drinks.
Overall with the seating confusion, wait to place order and then the miss on the tacos I can’t give them more than 2 stars. Will come back in a few months to see if things have improved.

The food was good, the drink was good (maybe a little overpriced at $ 10 for an old fashioned, but not that bad), but the service was pretty terrible. We sat at the bar but no refills unless we called him over. The bartenders all complained about other staff the whole time. When it was time to pay our bartender was no where to be found. We asked another one to cash us out and she said she would be right back…10 to 15 minutes later our original bartender showed back up.
Probably would not come back which is a shame because it was a nice looking place with a great draft selection.

We came for lunch on Saturday. The service was excellent. For an app we chose the calamari. The taste was great but the marinara was cold. Would have been excellent if the sauce would have been warmed and it was a small portion for the price which was disappointing. We also went with a burger and a California chicken club sandwich. You could tell the burger was a frozen patty, it was so-​so. The club was yummy however not what I expected. It is an item I expect to be more on the healthy side and this came out with buttery grilled bread. It did taste good, just expected somethings else. I think we will come back to give it a second try.

Not real impressed. My first time wife’s 3^rd. A bit enthused for a new place. Food came out superfast… Mac and cheese not baked as on the menu, a bit cold, ate it though as «uneventful mac n cheese». Her «Pasta chicken» was cold, not flavorful. Hmmm. Drinks. Ok, but, well other than time it takes to serve to the customer and mix basics, not real challenging. Just not real enthused.

I don’t typically write reviews, but I had a great experience tonight & thought I’d share! The bar staff was super friendly… very attentive & personable. All of the cocktails were spot on & tasty!!! The prices are normal for a gastro pub setting, but happy hour was a steal! hello $ 5.25 martinis & ½ price apps!
I’m looking forward to checking out Tuesday burger night!

My first experience with Bar Louie was
good. Our server was awesome and our food was good. It took a while for the drinks to come out but other then that I have no complaints.
I ordered the pulled pork and it was one of the best I ever had. The other dish we ordered was the thai chicken flat bread which was also very tasty. I’ll be back there for sure

Here are my three experiences which lead to the 2 star rating:
1. Opening weekend: The place was a mad house (as to be expected), but waiting over 15 minutes to get served a drink was a bit ridiculous. There seemed to be a plenty of bartenders, but between serving the folks at the bar and putting out drinks for the tables they seemed to be overwhelmed. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere.
2. Weekend after opening: Went there for apps and drinks (which happened to be after the happy hour specials). Put our name in with the hostess (who has no station and the only way you know your name is being called is that they run around the whole restaurant yelling out your name). We ordered the calamari (barely anything to the order) and the Asian flatbread (not bad) and a few round of drinks between the two of us. The wife liked all of her fruity martinis/​Total bill with tip was a little over $ 100! Umm, ok. The waitress was super friendly, but the wait for drinks and apps took longer than expected.
3. Burger Night: $ 5 burger nights happen on Tuesdays (5pm-​close). Not a bad deal, but the Wendy’s across the street has more flavor to their burgers that the ones at Louies. The patties looked frozen, but at least toss a little salt and pepper on them while they are cooking. Also order the spinach dip app and it was so-​so (probably frozen as well). Again, our waiter was super friendly and attentive.
Cliff Notes:
1. Burger Night (Tuesdays 5pm-​Close): Good for family night out, but don’t expect much
2. Go here for happy hour. Get there at 5pm and leave at 7pm because the BL’s normal prices are in line (or more) than city prices.
3. Service is good, but bar and hosts needs more help or rework.

Wow! And I mean that in the most negative way!
I so wanted to like this place. Too bad I don’t.
The place was empty. That should have told us something.
I ordered the Grilled Chicken Melt which did say on the menu that it was fried, but the thing was so greasy that oil was dripping from the sandwich. Couldn’t taste the cheddar cheese, or tomato, or lettuce because of the oil. No seasoning. Fries were cooked and crisp, so that was a plus. The only plus.
The wait staff was enthusiastic, friendly and happy to help, but I couldn’t tell who our waitress was with the three people that came to our table. One took drink orders and the next brought items to the table ad the third checked on us and gave us the check.
Might that be because they didn’t have much to do since it was so dead?
My lunch companion has the Ginger Lettuce Wrap, which she said was «not bad.»
Items came out from the kitchen separately. Just once, i’d like to go to a restaurant where all food for all parties at the table comes out «TOGETHER.»
Would I go back here?
Possibly for a drink.

Wish they had zero stars as a rating. Frozen spinach/​artichoke dip tasted and looked amazingly like another chain that is popular on Friday’s! Frozen veggies for sides. Burger was a frozen pre-​formed puck that wreaked of liquid smoke.
Waitress didn’t know they had a kids menu.
Positives: Waitress was attentive and fries were good.
