Creamy. Tasty. Cold. Hits the spot when you’re in the mood for a frozen treat. But it’s not frozen custard, it’s frozen treat. Just to be clear.

Effee’s exceeded my expectations! I didn’t think much of it before coming because I was disappointed by other similar outdoor ice cream places in the area like Pickle Bobs and Swirlies. There was no line both times that I visited probably because school already started and the weather is cooling down(not complaining at all!). They have tons of flavor and topping options so it’s a great place to go with family and friends and they also have a lot of seats to the side. The workers are really friendly and they offer samples if you want to try a flavor! The first time I went, I got a small peanut butter sundae which was actually HUGE. It consisted of vanilla ice cream and peanut butter swirls topped with whipped cream and peanuts. Sooooo yummy especially with the peanuts on top for the extra crunch. The second time I visited, I tried the flavor of the week, which was English toffee, and topped it with peanut butter and Heath bar. It was good but I didn’t think the toffee flavor really stood out(tasted more like vanilla). There’s something for everyone so I definitely recommend a visit!

Best soft serve ice cream around!!! Love love love!!! Only accepts cash! The people who work there have attitude but who cares, the ice cream is worth going out of my way. I’d give this place 100 stars if I could!!!

Have only had soft serve here, but it yummy. It is a pretty convenient location if you live in the Gainesville/Warrenton area. The only downside I can say so far, is they only take cash.

I finally tried Effies. I wasn’t impressed. I ordered the iceberg, which is ½ sundae ½ shake. I ordered an oreo shake for the shake part. The shake had so much oreo it was almost black. Gross. Plus it was filled to the very brim and was leaking everywhere by the time I got to my car. Luckily I had baby wipes and napkins, or it would have been a sticky mess. I probably won’t be back.

Wow! This place really surprised me! I wanted to stop by one of the local, «cutesy» restaurants on the way back from our hike in Shenandoah and I happened upon Effee’s! I had never been before and was ready to walk away after looking at the $ 4+ price tags for a lot of their treats, but thought, «Whatever! It’s only one time.» …Holy cow! I was SO pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Turtle Sundae and it was HUGE. Filled to the top and beyond with ice cream/frozen yogurt, whipped cream and pecans. Once you ate through that, it was lots & lots of warm chocolate and caramel sauce… and the bottom of the sundae had even more delicousness! I know other places would charge twice the price for that kind of treat. It was great!

Got a root beer float for myself. The ice cream was of very good quality and the prices are excellent. The ou door areas are well shaded and enjoyable to sit at.

Just ate there and the ice cream was fine. One of our orders was handed to us completely wrong, the young lady behind the counter made no attempt to correct the order, instead, she went and retrieved the little note pad that they write down your order on and read it back to us with a very combative attitude. She had made what was written on the pad but, It was not close to what was ordered so, possibly the young lady writing down the order made a mistake? I was amazed at the attitude of the young lady handing us the order. Not wanting to make a big deal in front of the crowd of people, we accepted the order and decided to spend our money elsewhere.

Well, I’ve been to Effee’s twice. One great experience. One bad. Hubby and I loved the hot fudge sundaes. I just tried to have a dipped cone this afternoon, but as soon as she handed me the cone it was dripping. I simply could not lick the drips fast enough. Soon it was pouring down the cone and all over my hand and all over my foot. I never made it the 20 feet to my car. I’ve never seen such a mess with an ice cream cone. All I could do was put it in the trash. $ 4 wasted. Something wrong with your machine?

Love this little cream spot right off 29! Try their milkshakes because they are definitely one of the most amazing things here with many different flavored and combinations!(My favorite is Oreo Cheesecake) Bring cash! That’s all they accept!

A trip to Effie’s would be a delicious finish to the perfect summer day. Disclaimer: This place is out in the middle of nowhere, is only open during the summer(according to other reviews, maybe fall?), and is cash only. That being said — any opportunity you have to go there is absolutely worth all of the effort. We usually stop by while passing through on road trips, or if we’re within any reasonably close distance for any reason. The milkshakes are the superstars of the expansive lineup — with the hot fudge brownie(giant chunks of brownie) and toasted marshmallow(has Rice Krispies in it) milkshakes prime examples of the perfection. Every milkshake is served thick and creamy, with a large diameter straw(usually seen if you’ve ever ordered bubble tea) that allow them to get creative with very substantial mix-ins. Those who opt for simply soft-serve get a regular cone with a cartoonishly massive tower of soft-serve. Anyone traveling with dogs can opt for a «pup cup» sundae of vanilla soft-serve and two milkbones, which is a cute gesture for dog lovers. Effie’s itself is a very small and unassuming building off Rt. 29, and there is no indoor seating There are several picnic tables, a gazebo, and one of those kitschy photo op boards with the faces cut out. It also has some grassy areas and a creek running behind it, so it’s a really nice place for little kids to run around and eat ice cream.

My boyfriend and I went to Effie’s for the first time tonight. We showed up after they had closed, not knowing it was a cash only place. All we had on us was a $ 5. They not only let us order but they worked around the amount of money we had. It meant so much and completely made our night. What wonderful service and great staff. We will be back! :)

Best frozen ice cream ever! But during the spring & summer months as the weather warms up the lines get long! But it’s worth it.

The one drawback of Effee’s is that it is located on the drive between where I used to live in Gainesville, and Carousel in Warrenton. Carousel was my favorite place in NoVa to get ice cream, so I never had as much of a chance to stop by here, but I used to from time to time. They have a weekly rotating flavor which is always good, and can be an interesting contrast. They make an excellent brownie sundae. Prices are good for the amount of ice cream you get. It is definitely one of the places I miss!

The ice cream is good here but what sets this place apart is the creative options on the menu. They have a combo sunday and milkshake in one and you can make them different choices and there are a lot of them. I am guilty of returning weekly to try new combinations.

We go about every other week during the season. Servings are very generous! My husband loves the shakes, Icebergs, and Avalaches. I usually get a kiddie cup of vanilla or the flavor of the week. Love most of the flavors, but I really look forward to the mysterious blue moon flavor. On summer nights, there can be a line, but it moves fast and at the end of it, you get ice cream! Cash only, so bear that in mind. 7 – 11 next door has an ATM, if needed. In the fall, the apple dumpling is amazing. Probably designed to be shared: warm, gooey, buttery apple dumpling in center surrounded by two big servings of vanilla ice cream and warm cinnamon sauce with optional whipped cream and/or nuts. I went sans nuts last week, and it was heaven. Probably 4,000 calories, but heaven. Off hours are predictably less busy, but I’ve been there on the busiest of nights and never waited more than 10 minutes.
