As other reviewers have mentioned, The Warren Store is a must visit destination. I don’t know why… something about the location, the charm of the smallness and simplicity of the rustic interior, or maybe it’s the waterfall in the back of the building where one can sit on a picnic table to enjoy their sandwich and snacks. But here’s the thing, The Warren Store is not just about being reminiscent of a bygone atmosphere. They actually serve really really really outstanding food. No really! This revelation only came to us after we ordered our first Godzilla sandwich which consists of a moderate portion of freshly sliced rare roast beef, Swiss cheese, thinly sliced red onion, fresh leaf lettuce, and a slice of tomato. We opted for regular mayo instead of horseradish mayo and locally sourced gluten free sliced white bread instead of regular bread. My husband also ordered a cup of soup… I think it was mushroom chicken… which was one of the two selections of the day. After savoring each bite of The Godzilla, we both looked at each other in agreement that we had to leave with two more sandwiches to go. Incidentally, by the time it took us to finish lunch, one of their soup selections had already been wiped off the chalk board. So on to round two. Of course we had to get another Godzilla and in the same way. In addition, we ordered The Family which is their version of an Italian sandwich with oil and vinegar dressing, salami, capicola, provolone cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and regular mayo per our request. We also had this on gluten free sliced white bread and asked them to hold the hot pepper relish which comes standard. As I write this in the comfort of our own home over 6,000 miles away from The Warren Store with a couple of boxes of locally made Maple Almond Brittle and Dark Chocolate Dipped Salted Caramels in hand, I conclude that this was definitely a memorable part of our trip and think you’ll find it to be for you too.

The Warren Store is a bit of a tourist trap, but so are a lot of the country stores in Vermont and at least the Warren Store parking lot can’t fit a tour bus. On the inside you’ll find the necessities: decent coffee, local beer, a great deli, some souvenirs, a bunch of candy, and creaky floorboards. Upstairs is a surprisingly upscale(or at least expensive) clothing boutique. The sandwiches are big enough to share. My recent experience was with a hummus and vegetable sandwich that had lots of tasty veggies and plenty of hummus, but could have used some hot peppers or a more garlicky hummus to give it some zip. Paired with some salt and vinegar kettle chips and a world class pickle, it made a great lunch. You can order whatever sandwich you want, but the pickle is a must. Perfectly crisp and briney. If you can manage it without endangering yourself, eating your haul on a rock by the stream that runs next to the store is always enjoyable. Oh, and they had some Heady Topper in the fridge so obviously I left with a four pack.

Don’t judge a book by a cover or a restaurant by the appearance outside. Our turkey sandwich and cup of clam chowder was plenty to spilt and delicious. Enjoy the cute shop while you decide what to order.

Great destination market in downtown historic Warren, with a good selection of Vermont products. Beautiful setting next to a creek, with outdoor seating. Deli selections of salads, sandwiches and cheeses. Broad offering of clothing and gifts. Very charming.

Absolutely adore this shop in Warren! They had super awesome sandwiches, so definitely stop by for lunch one day. I had the«number 6» which is turkey, lettuce tomato, onions and their special cranberry mayo dressing! So so good! And don’t miss out on the yogurt and homemade granola. I thought the granola was so great that I bought a large bag of it to-go, which they gladly sold to me! They also have a top-notch drink selection… I tried the locally-made Maple Orange Cream Soda from Cabot, VT… It was very good! If you are staying to eat, there is a nice-sized area with seating, which is very convenient! There is also a great boutique shop upstairs… I found some really unique items up there! I loved this place so much that I came back a second time during my short 3-day, 2-night trip to Vermont! Highly recommend!

I didn’t get to spend much time in the Warren Store but it was cool! We were on a beer mission so we picked up some Lawson’s Finest Sip of Sunshine(limit 3 bottles) and some Heady Topper(limit 24-packs). I had called ahead and the guy who answered was very helpful. I hope to return for more beer and possibly a sandwich, if they accommodate vegans. If you are on Route 100, stop in.

There is nothing average about The Warren Store. In a small town where you hope that, at the very least, there is a general store, a The Warren Store goes above and beyond in almost every way imaginable. My favorite aspects are their deli sandwiches, local gourmet food selection, and excellent gap raft beer, wine, and ciders. I look forward to my trips to Vermont, in no small part, because of the goodies that I discover at this tiny little shop. My boyfriend and I get lunch at The Warren Store pretty much every day when we’re in Vermont. They have AMAZING sandwiches AND they offer gluten free bread! Everywhere you turn, you’ll find something delicious that is made in Vermont. All sorts of cheeses, cured meats, pickled things, eggs, candies. They have it all here! Kudos to Vermont for making some of the best food on the planet. And kudos to The Warren Store for selling it all! The Warren Store also has everyday groceries, so there’s no need to leave town if your pantry is in need. On top of food and drink, The Warren Store also sells clothing and Vermont souvenirs. While I would rather spend my moola on things that can be eaten or drank, I always have a look around at everything else this gem of a store has to offer. The Warren Store is my version of heaven. When I head back to Rhode Island, it is with a cooler full of Vermont-made bacon, cheese, and ciders that I savor in the days ahead!

I first learned of this place as a location to obtain the cult beer geek followed Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Beer or not, I am a fan and stop whenever I am on Route 100 in the area. A deli and bakery that offer some deliciously creative sandwiches, sides, and desserts. The beer and wine selection is very impressive. A number of additional offerings as well — clothing, jewelry, etc. Quintessential Vermont country store. Great outdoor patio overlooking a mountain stream to enjoy a relaxing lunch(not able to drink though). Well worth a stop.

This is classic VT country store at it’s best. Located right across the street from the beautiful Pitcher Inn in Warren, the place makes you feel as if you walked into a spread in Yankee Magazine. You’ll be looking over your shoulder to see if you can spy Norman Rockwell surveying the scene, canvas in tow. It’s a tight and relatively small space, but every square inch is pressed into service to allow a decent selection of baked goods, beverages(adult and other), a great deli and the usual collection of foodstuffs and Vermontalia. This will be my go to stop when returning from a day on the slopes at The Bush.

A quick lunch spot that has above average deli sandwiches. They have a tasty bacon sandwich called the A.B.L.T. which I ate and can recommend. My wife got the pesto veggie sandwich and she recommends it. Chances are bad that you’ll find a seat inside. It’s winter now so we ate in our car. You could find a place to sit outside in the summer. I would bring someone here for lunch than dinner at Common Man.

Great sandwiches and baked goods. They have a Roast Beef sandwich with wasabi mayo — delicious. And, if you’re lucky and it’s early in the week, you can score some Heady Topper. Max 24-packs per person.

This was my first visit to The Warren Store. It’s nestled in a very cute area with just a few parking spots. The view from the side porch outdoor eating area was very nice. There were a lot of bees outside and they were annoying. Now onto the food: the menu is creative. When I was there at 2:30pm on a fall Tuesday, the were completely out of turkey… something I was only told after I had finalized my order. My backup sandwich pick was scrumptious. My sandwich came on my colleague’s wrap choice and her sandwich on mine. The atmospheres as quaint with creaky wooden floors and kitschy décor. They had lots of local treats, a good array of baked goods and beverages. I would go back again but only after I cycle through some of the other options in the area.

I’ve been shopping/eating at the Warren Store for years. Forgot to Unilocal it I guess until now! This place is thoroughly Vermont, it’s unique, it’s set in an old farmhouse with creaky wooden floors, a wood stove right in the middle, and they sell all kinds of interesting foods and beverages. For those who haven’t been here in a few years, they have improved their beer and ciders, and their wines are as always, interestingly chosen. I swear, they pick some of the wines just because they have weird names! They make sandwiches to order, they bake their own bread, cookies and pastries. They have a good selection of pasta dishes and other luncheon salads, meat loaf, all in the cold case. They have a few tables inside and also outside(which you can actually sit at during the six weeks of warm weather each year in Vermont, ha ha). There is a clothing/knick knack shop upstairs too which has a lot of unique things and clothing made by designers who do not sell to the masses. Ultimately, the store reflects its owner’s funky, offbeat personality. It is even reflected in some of the employees. Some have worked here for years. This is a must see in the Sugarbush area. Fun place, good food.

When we’re traveling up Vermont’s Route 100 we always stop in here. It’s not even a question. For starters, we know we’ll find something tasty to eat. The sandwiches for example are terrific and have cute names. But there are all kinds of other food delights too including baked goods. We stock up on more water for the drive and if we think we might want a picnic later complete with wine, we can get a bottle here. But really, it’s just so darn pleasant both inside and outside the store that even if we were stuffed to the gills with food and drink, we’d stop by anyway for a browse around, maybe get some ice cream, or perhaps to sit for a spell on the front porch front or back and just hang out right there near the Mad River. The entire surrounding area is lush and gorgeous. It’s Vermont at its storybook best. If we need a local gifty for someone back home we usually find something perfect here. Yes, a lot of Route 100 tourists stop here but it’s a place the locals patronize too. This go round while hanging out on the porch we met a friendly woman, her young daughter and their adorable 10 week old Australian shepherd puppy who they told us would one day grow up to help them herd the sheep on the farm they own up the road. Inside you’ll see the whole place has a very old-timey look(but authentic and not«let’s try to look old-timey») with lots of vintage pieces like the tables, chairs, the wonderful wooden coolers and the old pot belly stove. It’s rustic, filled with charm and the real deal without the kitsch. Buy some goodies, stretch your legs and strike up a friendly conversation and then it’s back you go on amazing Route 100 restored to your new and improved Vermont sensibilities.

The Warren Store is a place you must stop at if you’re in the area. This multi-level store is a shopper and eater’s dream. The casual outdoor dining area is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious lunch from the deli. First level of the store is mostly food, with the deli in the back, an area to purchase wine, an area of assorted fresh baked goods, and gourmet as well as non-gourmet snacks. Also, non-food items like The New Yorker greeting cards and T-shirts that say«Keep Vermont Weird» and other random items are available for purchase. Up the stairs you will find clothing, jewelry, housewares, toys, and even gift bags for hosts and hostesses if you’re visiting from out of town and staying with friends. I found a lovely and unique green ombré candle here as a gift for someone(but I really wanted to keep for myself) and as I was walking out some of the bright colored snap watches caught my eye. My friends and I came here for lunch before leaving VT as it was highly recommended by my best foodie friend, Heather B., who has been coming here forever. The list of sandwiches is enough to make your mouth water. With fun names like Hello Birdie(chicken salad sandwich with cucumbers, lettuce, and tomato), Foxy Lady(thin sliced Green Mountain ham, swiss, Fox balsamic mustard, lettuce, tomato, and pickles), and Smoke on the Water(cold smoked Scottish salmon, red onion, lettuce, tomato, capers and their own boursin cheese), the fun factor is enhanced in the ordering process. I opted for the Number Six(all natural roast turkey, lettuce, tomato, red onion and their secret recipe cranberry mayo) and their housemade Meyer Lemon Poppyseed yogurt with fresh berries. From the snack section in the front of the store I picked up some herbed popcorn. What an amazing lunch. The experience was made even better by sitting outside on the side deck with the beautiful green scenery as the backdrop and the subtle sounds of the trickling stream down below. This was one of my favorite places from our terrific Vermont trip.

So we came here with a very specific purpose– to buy some Lawson’s Finest Beer. Unfortunately, they were all sold out, so we didnt actually buy anything here, but we did browse around, I was very impressed with their selection. Lots of local, organic products, everything from soap to meat, and a great beer and wine selection, with all kinds of local craft varieties. Prices were a little steap, but because of the quality of ingredients and the middle of nowhere location, that is definitely to be expected. They also sell prepared food at the deli, and have a small area to sit and eat– which is a nice touch.

This is a must if you are anywhere nearby. It’s got a lot to offer — so much so that one of my fave web cams looks onto the store. anyhoo, on to the review… downstairs: deli and bakery — top quality, 5 star and great coffee too. baked goods you would serve to guests. outdoor seating — beside the Mad River — rustic-gorgeous market — the grocery section is very light, leaning toward gifty local items. magazines, snacks and candy are plentiful, and they’ve recently added a good amount of local take away entrée type things — gracie’s fabulous tamales, american flatbread pizza, burritos and more cheese(always a good thing) wine — the buyer knows his stuff, and i’m a fan of the periodic tastings, as i always learn something and come away with a good bottle or three upstairs: high end, upscale, unique, some local, funky, reasonably priced boutique items for men, women, home and kids — do not miss it. the buyer has a great eye and though i’ve got access to stores in Boston, i always find something to need here. gotta support the local economy. ps — don’t forget the Lawson’s

Long time customer of the Warren Store. Even when I moved across the country I HAVE to stop in and get a #6 with cheddar and pickles whenever I’m home in VT. The ritual really seems to «bring me home.» Since I’ve been purchasing sandwiches here for over a decade I can tell you that the prices have gone up, but it’s a treat for me when I visit. The prosciutto stuffed peppers are a great accompaniment to the purchase of a ice tea and a sandwich. I love their bread here and sitting over the water isn’t bad either. Since moving away from the valley I’ve only found one other store like this place in my life, and it’s called the Dry Creek General Store up in Sonoma, CA. It’s nice to know rural VT hosts such good food that’s it’s on par with wine country :)
