Paid $ 47 a night for a week’s stay here. So I’ll preface this review with that. It was a La Quinta when I booked the rooms a month and a half before arriving, but in the time leading up to the stay, they were bought out by Quality Inn. It was nice that LQ called to let me know. It was a budget hotel in a not so bad area. Wouldn’t write home about it, but I wouldn’t complain either. There were some hiccups, but most of those can be attributed to the renovations that Choice Hotels are putting into it(the desk told me something like $ 3 million in renovations are planned). One major minus for me though was the smoke smell in our room. Holy crap. I got home and my luggage smelled like a dive bar. Beds were surprisingly comfortable. The manager there(Derek) was phenomenal, though. Friendly and helpful when we needed it, and it seemed like he worked for 4 days straight — but never seemed tired or down about it.

Solid value for price. I stayed in a queen-sized bed for $ 60/night. For this price, I appreciated the reliable hot water, strong shower pressure, clean sheets + free wifi. Cons: the room is not especially attractive; thin walls; thin towels; damp-feeling carpet; one lamp didn’t work; no fridge/microwave. I’m a light sleeper, so I woke whenever I heard people talking outside my window(which faced the rear parking lot). Service was friendly; I had no problems during my stay. Fine for a business trip. Close to fast food chains, but you’ll be happier with a car to get around. St. Clair Lake Recreation Area is about 20 minutes drive away. Large mall w/H+M, J. Crew, etc. about 30 min. away. 1 hour away from DTW.

All I really ask from a hotel is that the sheets don’t make me feel dirty; that I don’t feel the need to have to wear long sleeved shirts and jeans to bed. I’ve stayed at a place that made me feel that way before, and it was unpleasant. This hotel, from what I experienced, was clean. Old? Maybe. A little worn out? I’ll concede the point. But it was clean. Everything else, to me, is just extra. For instance, there were plenty of towels, and lots of shampoo and soap. The room had nifty commodities like an iron, and a coffee maker. The beds are even made for you daily. Well… they’re made for you if you don’t groggily send the maid away when she knocks on your door in the morning. I don’t really need my bed made for me if it means I don’t have to get up before I feel like it. That probably makes me lazy, but I also probably don’t care. You might. I might… but it’s 1:30 in the morning, and I’m writing reviews when I shouldn’t be again. Oh, there’s also free breakfast. Now, when I was staying here, it was me and 3 boys, two of whom refused to eat the food here after the first day. That’s fine; that’s their preference. Everyone has a standard that they won’t fall below in terms of, what my boyfriend would call, «metabolizable substances»… but Dan and I are not picky. Free’s free, and free is awesome. You’re not going to get a 5 star meal at La Quinta, but you can get yourself full. I generally only eat oatmeal when I go out for breakfast anyway, so not having to pay for it works just fine for me. Meanwhile, there was a really friendly woman working the breakfast area when I was there. I wish I’d gotten her name, because she deserves special recognition. Come to think of it, the whole staff was really rather nice. That’s definitely a plus. It’s too easy to be grouchy and unhelpful these days, you know? I appreciate it when people decide to be cool. That’s really about it. The hotel’s not a palace, but it does its job. It trudges through in the face of adversity, and it fights for your clean towels and free breakfast. The end.

Stayed at this facility over the Memorial day weekend, and was truly satisfied with the experience. the facility is kept up nice and clean, in a quiet area. The room was great, I have always had issues falling asleep on hotel beds except for the higher end places. And as soon as I laid my head upon the pillow I was asleep, the beds are nice newer pillow-top mattresses. The tv are newer flat screen HD tv’s that are perfect for the room. The free wifi is a nice perk. Very good and will definitely stay again if in the Detroit area.

First, this is NOT a Baymont Inn as it appears on Unilocal when I’m writing this review. It’s a La Quinta. Second, it’s a decent location, rates are great, it’s quiet, clean and the staff so far has been quite friendly. This is our first night out of three, so I’ll update my review at the close of our stay.
