There are not that many Dim Sum places around the area. I would say as one of the few dim sum places in Warren/Sterling height/Madison area. this dim sum place is actually pretty good considering it is in Michigan. The place is kinda dim. the place is not so clean. i am not sure how often they really clean their chairs and the area… I would recommend people to come early on Saturday for discounted price. The price is reasonable… service is alright. there is usually no wait even on the weekend.

MANY times have totally enjoyed the noon DimSum the variety on Sundays is a treat, roast duck(my favorite) .Weekdays is less variety. Very reasonable prices. 4COMPLETELYDIFFERENT Dinner MENUS to select from in English and Chinese. !!! All great items!!! THE Staff are very helpful and gracious. The clientele: hugely Oriental, I felt I was in China, very nice welcoming atmosphere/! Offers special banquets and party facilities! The place is GORGEOUS!!! Going for lunch today, CAN’T wait !

I only order off the Chinese menu for dinner, so I can’t comment on the dim sum. The food is a hit or miss(I think depends on the chef of the day, look for an elderly Asian man because he is good), but the staff and management here are always rude and thoughtless. I came here one day with a large group, and we spent almost $ 200. When I looked at the bill, I was appalled that they had charged for tea. On prior visits, tea had always been free. It’s hot water and some cheap tea leaves, for goodness sake. I brought up this discrepancy with the manager and instead of taking it off the bill, she was adamant that they«always charge for tea.» Firstly, I know that is a lie. Secondly, the customer is always right. It was very thoughtless of her to fight with such a large group over a measly $ 5 charge. Because of this, we all left with a sour taste and will likely not return. On a separate day, I paid less than 20% and a different manager confronted me to «pay more.» Excuse me, but you can’t harass your customer to giving you extra tip when it wasn’t warranted. Tipping doesn’t even exist in Asia!!! Golden harvest needs to realize that this isn’t China anymore; you need to treat your paying customers with more respect, gratitude and not lie blatantly to our faces. How shortsighted of them.

I have been here several times. Dim Sum is good but all the other dishes are just okay. For me the place is a little unsanitary to be a restaurant. When we visited there, the carpets emit some old moldy smell, several tables remained uncleaned until we left the restaurant even if there only two patrons there. Also note that if you use Groupon, the restaurant will charge you for everything including a mandatory 20% tip/gratuity on your original bill no matter if you have a party of 2. I give between 15−20% tip when I eat outside but I did not pay this mandatory gratuity just on principle because the server insisted that it is part of my final bill. Moreover, all the complimentary things that they give you for free as a regular guest is gone. You will be charged with everything even for complimentary tea.

Beware of GROUPON deal! I usually go here if I’m craving for Chinese food. Today, a friend of ours had a groupon and asked us to to eat there. It’s a total RIP-OFF!!! They’ll charge you $ 3 for white rice you didn’t order, and $ 2 for hot tea(have been free without using groupon); and put a 20% gratuity charge on top of your bill. So much for saving using their groupon deal. I’m never giving this place a single penny ever again.

I was very excited to try this place because I have never had dim sum and the idea sounds fun and this location is right by my house. We went on a Saturday evening and there were only 2 other patrons in the restaurant… this should have been a clue, but I was thinking that maybe it is a hidden gem. The hostess never stopped talking on the phone while she seated us and the back of the chairs at the table we were seated were sticky and dirty. When we asked about dim sum dining, they brought out a special menu with pictures and a sheet to place your order(like for sushi). We were a little disappointed that the food was not going to be present traditionally via cart, but the pictures of the food looked good, so we were still excited. We selected 8 items and only 3 were printed on the sheet so we penciled the other 5 in. It turns out that only what was on the sheet was a current menu item. It would have been helpful if they told us that or crossed them out on the picture menu they have specifically for this purpose. The waitress was a bit rude when she finally explained this to us and since we already selected all the items we wanted to try(and now only ended up with 3) we decided to leave. Perhaps the food is good, but the service was bad and the restaurant was dirty. Unless I hear it is cleaned and under new management, I do not plan to try them again. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 since I didn’t get to try the food, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Never Again !!! Going in you can tell the place has been not taken care of. There’s a odor and it lingers. The floors have a layer of dirt on them you can tell. Sitting at the tables there’s a film of buildup dirt. They could all use a brillo pad and some soap. My dinner was OK nothing to brag about average that you. An get any place that serves Chinese food. but the egg rolls seemed over cooked crisp and full of grease. they were like precooked as in double dipped in the Fryer. Won’t go back. I was there a few times like 6 years ago. The place was cleaner then and didn’t have the stench it has today. The owners have gotten lazy I think. time to find another Chinese place to eat

I gotta agree with Kathy here! AHHHH… Golden Harvest saves our crave for Dim Sum in the Detroit area! I am from Hong Kong(where Dim Sum is from) and so finding a good authentic Dim Sum place around here has been a quest. After a good amount of disappointment, it was a thrill to find this place! Their style of Dim Sum is traditional and the dim sum here has the taste resembling a local old-school joint in Hong Kong. Not the posh, modern kind but the kind where you can find a lot of elderlies going after their Tai Chi practice. So their style of ‘Haa Gao’, ‘Cheung Fun’ and ‘Cha Siu Bao’ could be a little doughy for the modern taste; but some of the traditional Dim Sums are even rarer in Hong Kong nowadays — such as ‘Wu kok’ and ‘Nap Cheung’ Roll. I’ve been there twice so far, each time the quality of the dim sums are consistent and good! When my parents came to visit, we chatted with the owner and the chef and actually got to know which part of Hong Kong they were from and where the chef used to work. I’ve tasted Dim Sum in Europe and in other parts of the U.S. and I must say for an out-of-Hong Kong Dim Sum experience, that was a pleasant surprised.

I was heading to get some dim sum with a buddy of mine when he brought up Golden Harvest… we were planning to go to midtown Shangrila in Detroit, but my buddy was told that this is where all Asians go for the best dim sum… so why not. Based upon the reviews, you either love it or hate it… and I guess I’m one of few that falls between the middle. Thankfully I didn’t see any cat size Rats running around, if I did and if it went after my food, that rat would have died on the spot! :-] From outside, it doesn’t look much, in fact, it doesn’t even look like a Chinese restaurant until you walk in. When you walk in, there’s a big bar in front of you and the dining area is to the left of the entrance and it’s big… a lot of tables… we were greeted by a lady on the phone; we just went in and sat down at a table… another server came and asked what we wanted to drink… went with water(they charge for tea!). While waiting, there were few other tables that were occupied; not busy. The dim sum cart came and they had their typical items, but there were only few things we wanted to eat… in addition to the dim sum, we got the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and spicy squid. — Dim Sum — decent, not the greatest and I’ll have to admit, the last time I had dim sum was many years ago and it was at Shangrila in West Bloomfield and that joint had better tasting dim sum(personal preference)… I didn’t leave here sending APB to all my friends telling them they had to come here to eat dim sum. If you want fresh dim sum, make sure you get there when they open; not all the dim sum’s are on the cart, some of them you’ll need to order. — Chinese Broccoli with Oyster sauce — sadly, they were missing the oyster sauce, as I could not taste it in the dish. — Spicy Squid — this was my favorite dish after everything was consumed… I could eat this all day long! Service — decent — one main server that handles the dim sum carts, another that gets you the water, cleans the tables, etc. Overall, decent place… not sure if I’ll drive an hour to eat dim sum… but if I do go back, I saw a sign that said, $ 2.95 all dim sum on Saturdays, so if I was in the area and I went back, it would be on a Saturday :)

Ugggggggh I’m so nauseated and grossed out. We had a discussion on if we should try and induce a bit of vomiting. I have eaten here many times and since Jess B likes Dim Sum, we decided to head over. We ordered about 5 – 6 standard dishes — steamed dumplings, Shuimai etc. The place has one other table and they finish ½ through our meal. A few minutes later a party of 3 come in sit down. I’m asking Jess what she thinks of the place, and out of the corner of my eye I see something very large run under the table. I assume it is a cat and say that«Awww look! A cat». Jess looks over and says«Oh my god! That is a rat». We see it run around the room and I’m thinking Unilocal picture but my phone is dead and that isn’t a nice thing to do but really its because my phone is dead. We then see it run up through the bar. This sucker is big. We are now so grossed out with thoughts racing through our head and want to leave. As we start walking to the register, the guy at the other table says«you know is good when rats are that size». We go to the counter to pay and the manager apologizes and says«I need to call them again to take care of this»…AGAIN? It’s just too much for me to come back. I know things happen, I just had too many thoughts about open containers at night to come back.

Oh Golden Harvest how you are my savior when it comes to Dim Sum in metro Detroit… and Detroit. I came here on a weekday after the carts have stopped rolling around at 2pm. It was pretty darn empty and I was eating by myself.(which is sooo difficult with dim sum) It’s great because even though there are no more carts you can still order it off the menu. I think coming at this time I also got better quality dim sum because it wasn’t so crowded. Everything is on par with the dim sum places I’ve eaten at in San Francisco. Granted I always get certain dishes, so your favorites or go tos may not be like mine. I got the braise chicken feet, fried taro and meat dumpling, ham soy gaw…(i know i’m not spelling anything right), beef steamed rice rolls, and har gow. Ordinarly I would order more things, but being without a buddy to eat it’s more than I can handle. One day I’ll try and convince my husband’s palate that real Chinese food is better than the Americanized version, but until then I’ll be coming back for more for sure… solo :(

the food is to die for. The service sucks! Rats fighting for spicy squid. Never bring all the food at the same time. Have found another place that serve the same type of food. This place is dirty and ridiculous! They only care about money and not about the people. I’m surprise the health department haven’t shut down this place. Last time we saw a rat in the ice maker. Disgusting! Got a video of the rat.

There’s no denying it, as much as everybody tries to fight it, this spot is a true staple. Your momma comes here, your mommas momma comes here, you come here and everybody you know or will know in the future will come here. As far as I’m concerned, this is the measuring stick for dim sum in the metro Detroit area. Here’s a wipe on, wipe off for«Americans» who’s never had dim sum before. This is the closest thing to real Chinese food. Contrary to what your parents belive, chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken is by far the most embarrassing of all the stuff people order. So if you’re going to come here and order that, allow your sneakers to escort you out the door before you insult yourself by your ignorance. Pork, beef and seafood is what makes the dim sum world go round and round. This is the holy trinity of real Chinese food at its finest. Leave the chicken for the americans. They can have all that, just make sure they send the good scraps this way, like chicken feet and gizzards, then we can have ourselves a good dim sum pig out session. Order whatever you’re craving today, and anything interesting the person on the cart is showing you, 99.9% of the time, you’ll love it. The 00.1% that you wont, just means you prefer chicken fingers and fried potato sticks. Make sure you order a vegetable or two, trust me, you’re gonna need a palette cleanser. Maybe I’m going a little overboard with 5 stars, but this restaurant has done me no wrong my friend. They’ve served good quality and satisfying dim sum every time I’ve come around to pig out. So make sure you come hungry cause the food is really good. Life is awesome when the glass is half full. Weeeeeee!

Good food. A dive. Saturday is cheaper than Sunday. Dim sum. BEANCURD — pork, wood ear, and some bamboo shoots. I like the sauce. Size shrank by 10−15%. SIOMAI — pork and shrimp with pieces of mushrooms. CHINESEBROCCOLI — it’s amazingly super green, soft and crunchy. I could never duplicate the dish at home. Better to eat out. CHICKENFEET — skills required. Slurp the skin out from the chicken knuckles and somehow chew the tendons at the same time. LOL. SPICYSQUID — you must have a taste for it. Soft and crunchy. Just right spices. Jalapeño bits. Edible pieces of lettuce that is mistaken as décor. SWEETTOFU — warm caramel syrup hits the spot. One bowl per person. :-D EGGTART — shrank a bit. CHOWMEIN — a must have for long life(served on birthdays for well wishes). Greasy.

My boyfriend and I are Atlanta natives, so we were not expecting the best dim sum. We have been coming here for 3 weeks straight already. We really can not get enough of this place. It is the closest we feel to home. Hot tea is 75 cents per person. This is very uncommon for Chinese restaurants. Usually tea is free or $ 1 for a pot. We pass on the tea and stick to water. We love the chicken feet, meatballs, beef short ribs, shui mai, BBQ pork buns, pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, & the shrimp balls. I love how they have the different sauces on the table. It is weird that they do not serve sweet chili sauce with the shrimp balls, so I always sneak a bottle in(; You can also ask the servers for hot oil. If you do not see an item on the carts, you can tell the waitresses rolling the cart & they will make it fresh in the kitchen. Service is not the best I have ever had, but far from being the worst. Some of the servers are super sweet! Others, not so much. PS: On Saturday, all dim sum items are $ 2.95!

This review is for Saturday dim sum special only. This past weekend, we made the 30+ minute trek from Livonia to Warren for the $ 2.75 a plate dim sum(Saturday only)…to find the 7 had been clumsily hand converted to a 9. $ 2.95 a plate? OK, no biggie! We’re seated immediately, with about 6 other tables already there. We’re attacked by carts before we even have our coats off! Now, this may annoy some people, but I’m like ‘bring on those steamers, baby!‘ Shrimp dumpling, Shark Fin dumpling(don’t freak, it’s shrimp and pork and veggies) and Sticky Rice Wrapped are up first. Shark Fin was the hands down winner, which never happens for me… but theirs is yummy. Next up was the fried cart. Sesame Balls, Deep Fried Shrimp Balls and Jumbo Shrimp Fried Dumplings. I’m a complete sucker for Sesame Balls, every time. Love them. The other two were good, with Ken preferring the Shrimp Balls. We rounded out our meal with Baked BBQ Pork Buns, fresh and the perfect amount of pork to bun. This dim sum, usually a miss for us, was another winner. Warning! When our bill arrived, 3 of our 7 dim sums were more than $ 2.95. Less than $ 4 a plate, I’m pretty sure. Couple that with the dim sum ladies hawking the Chinese broccoli, noodles, etc every time they stop at your table, both of which are $ 7 or more a plate, and you could be in for some sticker shock if you’re incorrectly assuming everything is only $ 2.95. Their dim sum is good. If we were closer, we’d be regulars(and not just on Saturdays because their non-dim sum menu looks good, especially for those who enjoy more adventure than Almond Chicken). Rounded up from 3.5 stars.

Came here today for dim sum around 12 p.m. It’s my first dim sum experience in Michigan. Out of all the dim sum places I’ve ever eaten at, it’s definitely not the worst. I read several reviews that stated if you’re used to SF/LA dim sum, this place is a 2 and I agree with that sentiment. A lot of the steamed stuff was extra chewy but in terms of appearance, etc. it was typical dim sum faire. They had a few carts as well as some servers walking around with trays of food. You have to get up and pay for your meal by the front door register. No one comes to tally up the check for you. I can’t comment on price as I don’t pay or see our check. I docked off a star from my initial two star rating because there’s one server there that’s plain rude. I’ve been to a lot of Asian restaurants and I’m well aware that a warm, friendly server isn’t what you normally get; however, this lady takes the cake. She was condescending and unpleasant when we told her we didn’t want whatever she had on her tray. Then later on into our meal, we let our 18 month old play with the sugar packets at the table. She was enjoying herself and playing quietly, taking the individually sealed sugar packets out of the container and then carefully putting them back in. She wasn’t throwing anything; she hadn’t ripped anything open. Out of nowhere, the aforementioned server rushed toward my child and yanked the sugar packets out of her hand. When I tried telling the server we’d clean it all up after she was done playing with it, the server huffily replied, «Oh no no.» and continued to angrily grab all the sugar packets that my kid had been playing with. She then stuffed them back into the container and set them at another table without another word then walked away. It was the most bizarre, negative experience I’ve had in regards to dining out with my child and we’ve eaten at numerous places from hole in the wall to fine dining. It’s extremely important to me that my child behaves appropriately(within reason of her age) and doesn’t ruin other paying customers’ dining experiences. Furthermore, if she makes a mess, I will clean it up right away or ask for a broom, etc. to clean it up. I view it as my child, my responsibility — not the server’s. So with that in mind, it just blew me away that someone could be so pissed off that my kid was playing with the sugar packets. If we hadn’t been eating with friends, I would’ve asked for the bill immediately and just left. This whole experience has left me with a sour taste and I’m not planning on returning anytime soon, if ever. A shame because the other servers were fine.

Ordered: Hot tea, Ha gao, shumai, baked bbq pork buns, garlic chive dumplings, shrimp turnovers x2, egg custard tarts, sticky rice, and custard buns Price: $ 28(w/o tip) Ambiance: The restaurant looks like it was located in what used to be a hotel/business building before being repurposed to be a restaurant but it is nice inside. You may overshoot the entrance because it, and the parking, are in the back of the building. Once inside you’ll see a pretty elaborate and secluded bar with the dining areas sequestered off to each side of it. The staff were very friendly and spoke both mandarin and cantonese in addition to english. Dim Sum: The best dishes were probably the egg custard tarts which were sweet, super flaky and had fresh-out-of-the-oven custard which was still settling. The baked bbq pork bun and custard buns were also spot-on. The ha gao was OK, neither doughy or delicate. The shumai was one of the worst with an unappetizing dense consistency. Other dishes like the sticky rice were plain, it had only a single chunk of chinese sausage(lap cheong) although the rice itself was admittedly perfectly cooked. Overall, the restaurant’s shrimp tended to be overcooked resulting in a rubbery texture which was unfortunate. Also, being a spicy-food fiend, was disappointed to see they only had a off-the-shelf chili paste(e.g. sambal oelek) instead of actual chili peppers with chili oil. Overall this place was fine for Dim Sum, they did some things well and others just meh. Typical of any dim sum place, make sure not to show up right when they open(10:30 am) because the variety of dishes improves once the kitchen gets going. They did charge for tea(measly 75 cents/person) which seems to be standard in the midwest(but not in Cali). What make this visit worthwhile was Saturday mornings from 10:30 until I forget when, all dishes are $ 2.75 which made this a very affordable venture. I’ll keep hunting for other places but this is a good middle-of-the-road option for people out there.

I need to chalk up my previous experiences to has-beens. Because whatever this establishment is doing now, works. The variety of dim sum here surpasses most places in Michigan. They have pea pod stems, duck, lots of hot shrimp rolls, calamari, and my fav tofu pudding. You must come on Saturdays around 12:30pm. This is when all the good stuff comes out. And regardless of size of dish, everything is 2.75. I probably had one of my best Michigan dim sum experiences today. And the service was top notch, refilling my tea pot and water for the whole entire experience. Michigan– you have made me proud today!
