i had to apply a star rating to get this to post, but this company deserves NONE! Yes, we liked our concrete work, too, for about six weeks, when it began to start falling apart, and continues to do so. BUYERBEWARE! We hired the Andre Gelle company in the spring of 2014, and they sure did a job on us – our driveway, back patio area and front steps/approach – in July. Their first act was to demand more money, allegedly because the salesman had underestimated the amount of debris to be hauled away. Well, what choice did we have? We were contractually obligated at that juncture. On tear-up day, an old man arrived ALONE(I was told it is the owner) around dinner-time and stayed until after 10 p.m., careening with his machine into everything from the street up, including into our house and garage. By then, he had also sheared off the brick on one corner of our house, hit the cyclone fence(permanently bending it toward the neighbor’s yard) and carelessly hit our neighbor’s brick, too. More importantly, he also knocked off our outdoor faucet, causing serious flooding and necessitating an emergency plumbing call to fix it to restore our water! By the way, HE didn’t call for help; I had to call his nephew, the project manager, to appeal for help! Finally, we had water again(close to midnight) – as well as plenty of mud from flooding… The old man also did not want to pay the plumber(Gelle’s on-call guy, by the way) AFTER the work was completed and argued over that, even though the entire debacle was HIS fault. Never an apology from the owner, nor did he/the company ever repair any of the other damage he caused(I can document everything with photos, but don’t see that option to upload here). The concrete work was completed, but began to crack within two months, despite the fact that we followed all directions to not drive/park on it and watered the cement daily for curing. The worker who’d promised to return to seal it(for an additional nominal fee, of course), never showed up and never answered his phone or messages about following through. It then took numerous calls to get anyone to respond to the sudden 6-foot crack from the house to the patio scoring, and when Gelle finally passed the buck back to the salesman, he came by for about 10 minutes. He acted very unconcerned and told us it would be fixed by sealing, which we promptly paid to have done by yet another contractor. In fact, we spent hundreds on sealer and labor for that entire project. By spring 2015, the entire concrete job was filled with cracks, chunks out of corners and along scoring lines, heaving up and other ugly flaws, and most of the concrete has not held anything heavier than flower pots and yard chairs. Eight of nine patio blocks in the backyard have at least one long crack in each, some are heaving or have chunks missing and most now have several flaws in each. The ones in the front drive and approach also have crumbling chunks and cracks. I have tried in vain to reach anyone at the company and they haven’t answered my emails. Consumers need to be warned off the Andre Gelle company. The owners may sell themselves as doing quality work at economical prices, but you will be scammed for more money, then left with a crumbling mess that doesn’t come close to lasting a mere year, let alone a lifetime – and they do not stand behind their work! And, no, I am not a disgruntled employee slamming them – I AM A DISGRUNTLEDFORMERCUSTOMER. They are con artists who use inferior materials and do not deserve to still be in business. BUYERBEWARE!
