Yee Gods — I will stop here on EVERY trip to Central Oregon. Fresh hot fry bread that was so good.

We were on our way to Bend, but had to make a quick detour in Warm Springs when we saw the sign for Kalama’s Indian Fry Bread. We thoroughly enjoyed the piping hot fry bread, which we had with honey(butter, jam or chili are other options). Hadn’t had fry bread since visiting Arizona around 10 years ago, so it was quite a treat!

I saw the sign for Indian Frybread while driving down to Sunriver from Portland, and made my husband pull over. I had never had frybread before but I had heard about how delicious it was, I had to try it. And I knew that a food stand in the middle of an indian reservation was the perfect opportunity! I was not disappointed! It was made fresh right there, and was so incredibly tasty. I got 2 plain frybreads to share with the kids and we devoured them! They were crisp and soft and chewy. They had almost a biscuit flavor but not quite. I didn’t try the indian tacos but I bet those are fantastic! The little girl that took my order was ADORABLE as well as highly professional. I was impressed with her :) I will definitely make sure to stop there every time I happen to be in that area!

Indian Taco’s/Frybread is another food stand in Warms Springs, OR — right next to Tacos Colima. Not sure if they serve anything besides«Frybread.» I was not sure what Frybread was — and my work colleague would not tell me — so I went and ordered some. Reminded me of a fried bread or dough of sorts from a Carnival or Fair — but better. You can get butter or jam to go on it — but I ate mine plain. Very tasty! Appears to be cash only — no credit cards. No phone number or web site for this place — and again off the beaten path!
