This place is very large, but despite the size, they do not carry any of the high end rums I drink. I find the layout confusing and the prices high. I have been here a few times, but see no reason to return.

Aaaarrrrrrgh! Today was the fourth time I’ve been charged a price higher than what was on the signage. The first time I was overcharged I simply thought it was my mistake. The second time I was overcharged on the same wine I mentioned it – seems there were TWO different price signs for the same item. My 10.99 vodka rang up as 11.99. A guy doubled-checked and said I was charged the proper price. I insisted there was a clear sign reading 10.99. He looked again and admitted I was right. I also bought several nip bottles of their cheapest booze.(I wanted the empty bottles and they’re well over a buck apiece online) The sign clearly stated 99c, but I was charged 1.09. What the heck! This is a pattern, not an error! I realize that many folks won’t raise a stink about 10c or a dollar – it’s not worth the time. But it appears that Wines and More is systematically deceptive. You decide if paying the extra, hidden 9 to 10% markup is worth it.

I love this place, it is just what a smaller town like Wareham needs to hopefully get people away from the smaller stores that seem to carry essentially nothing. I am big on beers from New England and the selection here is really quite astonishing, they must have more than 1000 brews and a few hundred just from Massachusetts. Their prices are quite good as well, maybe not the very lowest on something, but they will listen when you tell them of a lower price somewhere. Don’t be shy and they won’t either.

The first time I walked into this place was like walking into alcohol heaven. I can’t even begin to comment on the selection of all different varieties of booze. For such a large store, they didn’t seem to have many people working at that time. I like to get suggestions for the employees about different beers or what’s new, etc., but I can never seem to find anyone out of the times I’ve been here. During my last trip I had purchased several expensive beers I was dying to get my hands on. The man at the register was an older gentleman with grey hair. My friend checked out first with no problem and didn’t get carded(we’re both in our mid twenties, but she looks very young). It was my turn to check out. He rang up my beers, checked my ID and made a comment about my change in hair color(I now have dark brown hair. In my license photo I am blonde). I’m used to this since it happens all the time. I made a comment about how I’m always changing my hair and he looked at me suspiciously as he scanned my license. He then claimed the name on my license wasn’t matching up with what came up on his computer in a rude manner. I told him that was impossible, I have no need for a fake ID. He scanned it again while shaking his head, eyebrows raised. There must have been something wrong with his system because eventually my name came up. He did not apologize for being rude or thank me for shopping or tell me to have a nice day. Despite their amazing selection of alcohol, I won’t waste my time there after that incident. There are plenty of other liquor stores I’d rather spend my money at.

By far the largest craft beer selection I have ever seen at any liquor store in the area and beyond. Craft beers are seperated by region(Country, Coasts, Etc) and come in standard cans and bottles, as well as over-sized containers and special packaging. If you’re a seeker of new and exciting craft beers, Wines and More will keep you busy for years. The prices for craft brews range from average to quite expensive for some brands. You can even mix and match your own six pack and get a discount for doing so. You’ve favorite national brands are there and what isn’t in the cooler is in the beer cave. Wines and More also have a wide variety of sprits. I found that the scotches are a bit on the hight side, but most of the other spirts fall within the typical price point. There is also a large assortment of wine, including a «wine cellar» that features 90+ rated wines and up. If you buy a tasing card, you can sample them before you buy. Monthly they feature beer, wine, and spirit seminars. I recently attended a beer seminar for Shipyard Brewery out of ME. We sampled several of their brands and styles and were asked to tate them. It was very laid back with no pressure to buy. The beers were paired with homemade chili and fine cheese and crackers. It was free admission to the seminar and the food was complimentary. They gave us a free Shipyard beer glass and offered discounts on the product. I found a great beer they made that I had never heard of. Had to take a 6 pack home. I plan to check out their Vodka seminar next week.
