Salon Di Elio & Day Spa

I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I had been to Elio a few times before and loved him but recently I ended up going somewhere closer to home. The salon I went to completely ruined my hair. My bangs were also butchered and did not frame my face well. I ended up clipping them back for a week before going to Elio to see if he could fix them. He is a miracle worker for hair. He not only fixed them but gave me a haircut that I could wear down again. I’m not sure how he does it but when I leave there, my hair falls perfectly without having to style it in any way. It’s light but looks fuller. I would recommend, and do recommend, Elio to everyone!

I was here recently for a haircut, and wasn’t that impressed. I made a sort of last minute appointment here, and got the first appointment of the day. When I arrived, no one was there — the door was locked. Elio showed up a few minutes later, but it was still weird — he should have been there by the time of my appointment. The haircut was a lot of him pushing my head around, it was definitely not gentle or in any way relaxing! I’m disappointed, when I showed up to work the next day — my co-​workers didn’t even notice I had a haircut. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

I’m so glad I read the reviews and went to Elio! I walked in with a picture of what I wanted my hair color to look like and he knew exactly what to do — and it turned out better than the picture! I will never go anywhere else. He’s extremely personable and definitely knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t hurry up just to push you through and get onto the next customer — he actually cares how it turns out and makes sure it’s perfect. I had my fiancé go there for his hair cut and even he said that no one has ever done such a great job on it. He didn’t just pull out the trimmers and buzz it down, he actually cut it and textured it. Go see him! :)

I’ve been going to Elio for years, since he was located in Belmont, and he really is just the best. I am a horrible customer in that I never go to get my hair cut and colored as often as I should, but nonetheless Elio welcomes me back after my absences like part of the family. He always listens to what it is I’d like in terms of cut/​color, offers advice when I ask, and it ALWAYS comes out looking even better than I could think.
In addition to being a fantastic artist, he’s just a genuinely great guy. Don’t plan on heading to the salon and being whisked in and out, however. Elio takes his time, he does a very thorough job on your hair, so this sometimes means appointments run long or start late, but trust me, it’ll be so worth it in the end!

I went to Elio based on the reviews and proximity to my home. I was so pleasantly surprised! Based on the reviews I was expecting a good haircut. I wasn’t expecting the nest haircut I’ve ever had! Elio is an artist, and is the calibur stylist you would expect to find at a high dollar salon in Boston. I will never go anywhere else!

I made an appointment based on the good reviews on Unilocal!It was not exactly what I expected…
When I first got to Di Elio’s, I wanted to turn around and run for the hills! It’s sure not a trendy salon like those downtown…
But, I decided to give it a chance (cause I was so busy reading all magazines in the waiting area!) and I must say that I am pretty happy with the final product!
Elio took his time to cut my hair, adjusting, measuring frequently and dryer my hair nicely.
Overall, I am happy and will surely return. Cut and dry = 45 $ (which is super inexpensive as compared to the salons in Newton and Boston).

Elio is still my favorite hair person, I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else, not only is he consistently excellent, but he is also friendly and easy-​going! When I recently needed his services on a very short notice, he stayed late to accommodate me – now that’s good service!

I’ve just had my fourth haircut with Elio, and it’s always a pleasure – he’s an artist! He also listens to what you want which makes a big difference to me. I don’t only receive compliments the week of my appointment but all the time, and his prices are very reasonable! His business is located in a cute little house surrounded by lovely flower beds, he’s got a green thumb, too!

I have been going to Elio upwards of 8 years now. I went off to college a long plane flight away and always timed my visits home so that I could get me «an Elio cut». Then I moved to NC after graduating from college, and despite my efforts to find a new stylist there, it was not possible. I continued to look forward to coming home so I could get his celebrity-​quality cuts. I’ve never seen my hair with so much shape; I have really fine, flat hair, and it doesn’t keep a curl or any other shape without the most unbelievable effort. But Elio’s cuts always give it such bounce, wave, and beautiful shape – and NO I don’t have to use products or do any fancy blowdrying to achieve it. I live in Washington, DC now and have completely given up trying to find a place closer to where I live. I know there’s no one out there who can do what he does outside of the new york/​LA fashion industry, so it’s totally worth the trip home to see him. He’s earned so much of my trust that I don’t even say what I want anymore, I just sit down and let him work his magic. Not only will you gain continuously enviable hair cuts and styles, but you make a true friend – you won’t be able to help but be charmed by Elio’s joyful and caring personality. I mean where else do presents to and from Elio and his clients (and their families) pile high during the Christmas season?
Take away: this place is a GEM.

Have you ever been complimented on your hair cut so many times that you think, «Holy cow, I must’ve looked like a skeezbag before»? I fell upon Elio through a coupon because I’m a frugal skeezbag, but he’s so amazing that I’m sold. His highlights are brilliant. His haircuts don’t have that awkward freshly cut hair vibe. My husband even started going to him and he doesn’t even comb his hair (he thinks messy is best).
Word of warning — Elio is on his own time, so appointments can often run long. Just know that going into it and you’ll be fine.

Elio is great. I first tried this salon last year when they were running a special. The service was great, it’s near my house, and the outside is so charming. Elio loves plants and gardening, so his shop is surrounded by flowers, and when he’s not giving fantastic haircuts he’s outside gardening.
I went back the other day and Elio managed to cut a foot off of my hair (enough for locks of love) and still give me a great, flattering cut. Even without a deal his prices are really good. He was also really sensitive about my allergies (to hairspray and such), which I appreciated.
He’s a sweet and funny man, who could be working on Newbury St if he wanted to, but he loves his little cottage garden shop in Waltham.
