Oh boy — what to say. Grease soup? Because this sure wasn’t stir fry(see photo above). I’ve tried Jin’s a few times — never judge a place on what could be a good or bad night. We’ve ordered general gaus, dumplings, chow fun, moo shu, and Szechuan pork. Of these, only the chow fun with good flavor but too much grease was even passable. The general gaus made you wonder where the chicken was and whether they even had knives or if they ripped pieces before shredding it. Szechuan pork was the worst — pure grease soup. No flavor. No heat. And soggy soggy vegetables — you could drink the broccoli through a straw. The moo shu was a close second. Again seemed boiled instead of stir fried. Let’s face it, most Chinese in the area — whether authentic or «Americanized» is just plain awful. Dumplings were pre-fab with medium — heavy dough and very fatty filling. Won’t be back.

This is my third time eating at this place. I ordered sesame chicken, general gao chicken, stir-fried lo-mein noodle, Sichuan sliced pork beef tendon and Sichuan chicken. Food itself here tastes okay but I don’t think they use fresh ingredients. Steamed brocoli and parseley for garnish seemed stale. The woman at the counter is really unfriendly. Everytime I visited here she was grumpy.

Very immpressed with the food, seemed very authentic as the only thing we ordered that is on every sichuan resturant menu was crab rangoon and they were better than most. The boiled fish fillet with hot chili was spicy and warm on a cold afternoon, I’ll get it with rice next time to get more of the broth. Hot and spicy style chicken was a very interesting and flavorful combination of spices and vegitables. Sichuan black fungus was a mushroom lovers delight. Going to gather some friends to go again. Menu is a little confusing as dishes have similar names and descriptions but worth getting to know/try some different things(maybe by accident). Think they will do well and be able to update the old carpet in future and I wish them great success.

I got takeout of house Lo Mein, bamboo shoot in chilli oil, mapo tofu with pork, Jin’s schiuan beef, slice roast beef tendon and crab Rangoon. I was very disappointed with their Lo Mein. It’s like they just boiled the noodle and mix in some soy sauce. I was really looking forward to that wok smell. The bamboo did not have enough chilli oil. I thought the Sichuan beef and the beef tendon and the tofu dish were authentic because of the Sichuan peppercorn.

Jin took over the Hon Dynasty that was here. Along with the general Americanized dishes you normally see at chinese restaurants such as general gau chicken, orange beef, and so on. You would also find more traditional dishes such as beef and tendon with chili sauce, bamboo shoots with chili oil, spicy string beans, and steamed fish with ginger and scallion. Nothing crazy special, but a nice place to grab traditional foods along with the normal chinese fast foods.

We got delivery and they forgot the«goons». No biggie, I call and let them know. They say that they can bring them or credit me. I say, it’s cool just credit me. The lasy says«I’m meg, remember me. I’ll credit you next time.» Good enough for me. How nice. But the kicker is that the food was super good. Sechuan and Thai were great.

Really to bad that they lost my business. I’m am allergic to fish/shrimp. I order Chinese food not only from here all the time but just in general and have never had a problem in my life with substituting the shrimp in the pupu platter. I’m not substituting it because I don’t like it I’m substituting it because I’m allergic. I was told rudely on the phone this evening that was not allowed when I kindly explained my situation and that I was a regular customer who gets the same thing every time she told me she knows that because she can see it but she’s busy tonight so. None of this makes sense to bad I have to find a new Chinese food place to order from every Sunday.

This is the perfect combination of real-deal Sichuan cuisine. Water boiled fillet with hot chili sauce is the best food I ever ate in USA. Thank you for making me think back to the time when I ate in China with so traditional food. Delicious food highly recommended in my first time review!

Jin’s Sichuan House is the Best Kept Secret in Waltham No I Take That Back, Maybe In The Whole Boston Area Last weekend I was driving by Mulan Chinese restaurant in Waltham and saw its bright lights, and tables overcrowded with starving customers. I wondered why so many people were sitting there as the food is So So at best, and the Service Slow. I drove a little further and saw other Jin’s Sichuan House, Grand Opening, a restaurant I had never seen before, and went inside to enjoy some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. There were still in the process of redecorating but I didn’t let that distract me at all Jin’s Sichuan House is so good it will attract customers from 100 miles! Its was started by Jin a few months ago, who attended the famous Chengdu Cooking School in China. He is a great guy who personally prepared my delicious dishes, with skill and artistry. I wrote this review as I felt called to help him out, though I never met him before. The difference between Jin’s and Mulan is the difference between a GREATCHEFF, and a common COOKS, the kind that prepare the soldier’s sloppy meals in the army barracks. A real chef tries to put a Wow Factor in every dish, the cook mindlessly follows a boring recipe without even trying. Even the less spicy American style Chinese dishes are a cut above the competition and carry the mark of a real chef who has spent time thinking about how to make this dish exceptional. The General Gau’s chicken for an example, has a wonderful balance of sweet, sour and mildly spicy. Some of the great Sichuan dishes to die for were the Sichuan Spicy Fish with Chinese Cabbage, a dish I have had in some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world, none of which compared to Jin’s. Another dish that was superb was the Eggplant and Pork, food you can imagine being served to the emperors court. The Sichuan Spicy Pork is another wonderful creation of Chef Jin, a gastronomic tour du force. All of which leads me to say again that Jins is the best kept secret in Waltham, It wont be for long so go and try it! You will go back again soon! BTW: They do take out!

Went with my friends last weekend and ordered Baozi(similar to wanton). Really reminded me what I used to eat in China! And the owner is hospitable too. Generally good experience!

Jin’s Stir-fried noodle is highly recommended! I ordered fried wanton and that is nice too, if you want something spicy, sweet and crispy~ I want to say that this is an authentic Chinese restaurant in Waltham.

I have to agree with one of the previous reviewers. I ordered General Gao chicken. It tasted great, but I immediately had a bad headache, presumably from too much MSG.

Did take-out the other night. Hot & sour soup was ok, more sour than most and too much cornstarch for thickener. Pork dumplings were good, with nice dipping sauce. Orange chicken was overly sticky-sweet. Kung Pao Shrimp was good. Broccoli and tofu in garlicky Yu Xiang sauce was pretty good — broccoli was still crunchy. My biggest problem with this restaurant is that ithey use way too much MSG. Normally if I’m exposed to MSG I feel a little tension in my temples. Here, the tension in my temples turned to pain and radiated up and down each side of my head.

I use Unilocal a lot but never had an account. I’m so pissed off this time that I have to create an account and do a review. I got their ads in my mailbox today and it so happened that I was not in the mood of cooking so I decide to give them a try. I ordered a water-boiled beef fillet with hot chili sauce to go. The person who answered the phone told me it will be ready in 10 minutes. I was a little bit surprised cause that’s just too quick, even by Chinese restaurant standard. This is normally not a very good sign but considering that they just open, there might not been many guests at that moment so I said ok. By the time I went out to pick up my order, I missed the place twice. They don’t even have a light box sign outside! Then I was shocked the second I walked into the restaurant. The place was filthy. It looked like an cheap old joint that haven’t been opened for 30+ years without proper maintenance. The person who handled my order was having dinner while I walked in. He did not even wash/wipe his hands while handling the transaction and had those cheap cooking oil all over my credit card!!! Also while he was talking to me I can see clearly that the food was dripping down he’s chin… Also there suppose to be a 5% discount for pick up but I did not get it for whatever the reason. That’s pretty much all the rant I have about the place. Now it come to the food part. 1. Beef had a strange taste and texture feels weird too. While I was chewing it I kind of feel the cow might be dead for weeks before they got their hands on it. 2. The dish cost $ 15(more expensive than mulan) and there are literally less than 10 pieces of meat in it. I’m not really complaining here cuz the meat was so bad that I didn’t even finish one piece. 3. As a water-boiled beef fillet, why the f**k there are so many tofu inside??? 4. cooking oil they use was really really cheap, worst than KFC. It’s been almost one hour since I had my bite on that meat. I still feel sick after drink ¼ gallon of orange juice. !!!AVOIDATALLCOST!!! If you want Chinese food, go to Mulan. The food is average but at least the place is clean. I think they will re-open soon. If you want cheap food, do yourself a favor and go to KFC or Wendy’s, whichever you prefer.

Restaurant opened within the past week or so. Neighbor went two days ago, ordered appetizer combo and enjoyed it. I ordered salt and pepper pork, first time(I’ve had salt and pepper shrimp before) and expected it to be dry and tough but I was pleasantly surprised. It was tender and moist but very spicy. There were maybe 4 or 5 of those small red chili peppers. crystal shrimp appetizers were good but slightly salty. Did not come with sauce. I think this is my new Waltham favorite.
