Very friendly staff. They have pretty much any costume you’d want.

Pretty poor customer service. Was a few blocks away, but traffic was slow, so called to ask if they could stay open a few minutes past 6pm (when they close) so that I could run in and grab what I needed (or see if they could grab it and have it ready at the register).
But no, sorry, we close exactly at 6, regardless of the fact that you just drove 40 minutes to get there and are just down the street. There are a lot of businesses willing to be slightly flexible to help a customer. I’d rather give those businesses my money.

Very pleasant and friendly service, and a fine selection of costumes. Most of them fit firmly in the «good for Halloween but not for a stage production» category, but they have professional quality make-​ups that would find a home on any make-​up artist’s shelf.
I’m glad there’s a nice place, open year round, that isn’t in Cambridge or downtown.

The store is poorly stocked and smells of smoke. And the two women who run the place are the most unhelpful people on the planet. I went to this costume store with all three kids, and got kicked out for a screaming toddler! To the lady who kicked us out: your dingy store isn’t a library. And if you hate kids as much as that why the hell are you selling to them?

bad: wont let me try on their suit of armor, maybe i wanted to rent it, too bad for you J&N too bad for you…

Wow, you need a costume? This is your spot! Seriously impressive selection. I got a cigarette holder from here back in the day, and used it for a long time too. Yeah, OK, that was a pretty obnoxious thing to do, but hey, I love me my obnoxiousness! Prices can be a little high, and beware around Halloween, their stock is good but the place was packed!

HUGE Selection on costumes!
I went there mid-​summer to get some costumes for a party and they had everything I needed, and so much to look at.
Because it’s «off season» the prices were reduced, but still a bit high — but if you’re looking for a quality costume I guess I’d say it’s worth it!

The Joke and Novelty Shop in Waltham is a great place for costume rentals, Halloween ideas or when you just want to see some really crazy apparell. Staff is friendly and their prices for rentals are pretty reasonable.
