I was extremely looking forward to going to this place, but as soon as we walked in with my beautiful wife and amazing friend for her birthday no less we were immediately turned off. We were greeted by a stuck up woman with short dyed red hair, she was completely insulting and rude. I can’t believe anyone who«runs» a business could treat anyone the way she did us for wanted to patronize a business in this day and age. The atmosphere didn’t look that great either, we immediately walked out. I will never go to this place again. Completely disgusting. We jumped on Unilocal and found ShBoom in San Ramon, ITIS A MUSTFORNIGHTLIFEINTHEBAY! GOTOSHBOOMINSTEAD10MINSAWAY! Staff was amazing and we ended up having an unreal night. WPLJ’s is the biggest disappointment in the East Bay. HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE, WILLNEVERRETURN! LEARNTOTREATCUSTOMERSWITHRESPECT!!!

Hella funny. The dj thinks he’s somebody big time. Plays horrible music. I complained and I guess I hurt his lil feelings because he called the bouncer over. How sad. All he can do is eat. Forget that nobody is dancing to this music. The bouncer said we can go somewhere else. I’m happy to. Hey. Check out your reviews wpljs. Very unfortunate. You could be a great place but for your staff.

This place is a joke. The woman at the front counter rejected our group(ages 45 – 60) because one of our friends accidentally walked in without acknowledging the cover charge. I highly recommend not giving any business to this bar.

I love this place for dancing. It has a great vibe, super chill adults and you dont have to worry about creeps trying to grope you or dance all over you. I had a blast!!! They have a nice dress code and shoutout to Brenda. n and Kevin at the door, they were friendly, accommodating and honest. I hope to come back here for dancing and maybe drinks next time! THE lounge offers more private and social seating, as well! I’m told they have different dance nights, but I enjoyed the 90s hip hop for sure. I’m not old but those song were popular once an it takes me back to my days! Loved it & I felt so free to dance like no one was watching, you have a new customer!

Very cool place. Definitely a neighborhood dive but a good one! Don’t know what’s happening for Halloween but I’m planning on finding out

My friends and I have been coming to WPLJ for years and used to be a, really fun party location. Now on Saturdays they charge $ 10 cover charge! Really?! For what? Need to update the interior. Bouncers are rude and they kept my ID all evening. For what reason?! Rip off! Plus, the clientele has become skanky and kind of «ghetto», For more bang for your buck go to Shbooms in San Ramon. $ 15 to get in and you get an awesome free buffet dinner! Much more class and better clientele. Very disappointed in how downhill wpljs, has gotten!

Fun little dance bar. The bar wasnt very full and the crowd(fri night) was mostly 30+ years old so it was much more laid back, friendly and less uncontrolled drunkenness than you might worry about in the average club. That was differnet but I enjoyed it. The DJ played a fun mix of 80s 90s 2000s and current hits. Only one bad experience. The woman staff member checking us in at the door was having trouble understanding my friend, who has a vietnamese accent. She was asking how much cover was. So the womans reaction was to start talking loudly and simply to my friend like. «5DOLLARS… CASH…CARD…5DOLLARSYOUPAYNOW» and seemed annoyed at my friend. Ugh how embarrassing. Has she never heard an accent before? How does she live in the bay area? That was rude and ridiculous to assume my friend doesn’t speak English. But, we didn’t let it get to us and partyed on :)

Rude lady at the front. Sorry you hate your job and check in security is the best you could find. We were under the impression that it was free before 9. We arrived shortly before 9 and asked her what time the cover charge starts. She snapped at us, «8:30…» Uhm okay, in the past I have gotten in for free before 9. we should’ve walked out because she snapped at us like a mean angry pit bull. The crowd is mostly 40s and up, but the music is good. Pool is $ 1 and we enjoyed that part. Bathrooms are filthy. We ordered two beers, the bartender told us $ 10.00. We gave him cash and he turns around and comes back and says«oh never mind, $ 10.50!» So for the second time in less than five minutes, we get a feeling we’re being gypsied by this establishment. I’d recommend going elsewhere.

I’ve read the majority of the reviews here and the only remark I have is — everyone has their own idea of how to spend a few hours in a club. True, there’s NO excuse for rudeness and lack of common courtesy, whether it’s the barmen or the person letting customers in. One the other hand, I enjoy going there to dance. I pay less attention to others and just go and enjoy the music. I always try to enter before 8:30P(free), buy a drink or two and dance until the DJ starts playing consecutive genres that I don’t like… then I leave… which is usually around 11ish. The only real complaint that I have is regarding the DJ who appears to be extremely unhappy. Never cracked even a smirk when I requested a particular song(which I knew he had) and nods to his tip jar without saying a word. Waited for two songs and he still didn’t play my request. Had to leave the club but not before considering retrieval of my money from his jar. Only gave it a thought mind you. Anyway I will continue going to the club… smirks and all.

Stuck up, snobby folks work here. Chick at door was hella rude as we TRIED to get in. Didn’t even smile or greet us… just a «get out your ID’s». Women’s bathroom was disgusting and smelled like piss! Oh and it was only like 9:45pm on a Saturday! Bartender was talking to other people(too busy) to make our desired drinks. No he wasn’t making their drinks… just standing there talking to them. Maybe we had our invisible paint on??? It was my first time here and my last. Eef this place!

This place is A-OK, though I have to say we’ve only been there for their karaōke experience. Good bartenders, cute décor. It’s definitely no hot spot, but for a local bar that has karaōke, it’s not-so-bad. Always been treated well by the staff here.

Friday is supposed to be a good night here. It’s a joke. Combine a $ 5 cover with a bad dj and horribly rude bartender that talked back for no reason and a trickling(almost empty and nonexistent) crowd. First and last time.

This place was good back in the early 90s I have an older friend who loved this place back then. Fast forward to now ! I was meeting a friend there, a female one, a hot one too ! It was during the summer so it was 90 degrees still at 10 pm I cruised there on my sport bike, but was not allowed in because I had a T-shirt on ! Now I had on a nice form fitting t-shirt, nice jeans and boots ! And the bouncer said this place has upgraded its standards ! As I saw the clientele that was in and coming out of this place I knew at that point I was dealing with a Fat Lazy, dilusional Buffoon ! So I said your right, I can clearly see this place has upgraded its standards ! And your the right guy for the job ! At that point I had overwhelmed him with confusion. And just simply went somewhere else with my hot lady friend. I just don’t understand Dress codes at a bar/club it’s summer ! It’s hot outside ! I’m not wearing long sleeve or collared shirts or anything dressy. Plus I’ve spent 6 years as a bouncer ! And the places that have the most trouble are the ones with Dress codes ! Don’t think that trouble makers can’t put on a collared or dress shirt.

In terms of music selection, am not sure if this business considers the customer requests or vibe. It seems that regular DJ is just focused on what he personally likes. My friend requested for a song and handed him a $ 5 tip to play it at 11PM but we stayed up to past 1AM and still he did not play it. It seems that he has a prepared CD of songs every night as the music sequence does not change at all. Wish that this place would be more customer friendly music wise. Good parking. Good bartender and security staff. They attempt really to clean this place up even though it is dated and in need of remodel.

Would have given a zero if allowed. I don’t have a driver’s license so called down to make sure I could get in. I’m 60 years old. The incompetent person who answered the phone said they couldn’t say if I could or couldn’t get in. That’s unacceptable. I’m 60 years old for God’s sake. I was meeting five friends there but we just went elsewhere. What an excuse for a dance place. Don’t go here!!!

I dont know if this is a cougar bar, gay/les bar, dive, or just a place people forgot about. Come to think of it, its a mixture of all of them. Lots of people watching to do here, I can promise you that much. I couldn’t wear my hat, which is a jk considering the clientele and stature if the place. Not much more to be said, the Dj had no balance to his music selection and horrible songs to get down to. SMH…

I’m between a fan and OK… it’s a nice place to go and dance to «old» music, and fresh music. The drinks are well made, and the bartenders are pretty friendly. It gets a bit warm on the dance floor, but they have huge fans that take care of that! :)(Be careful if you’re wearing a flimsy sun dress… Hellooooo Marilyn!) The only problem I have is the«dress code.» Where I do understand they want it to be a classier place than others, and who really wants to see guys dropping their pants below their butts, and random ugly tshirts … they wouldn’t let me in with a sweatshirt on… not one to keep warm, but more of an accessory… it’s obviously NOT a hoodie, but the female bouncer was insisting that it was… not sure how a fitted Roxy sweater is a hoodie, but whatever. It’s still a decent place to go and dance, and have fun with your friends. Careful, though. the drinks can get quite strong, and it IS in Walnut Creek…

If you are looking to mix things up outside down town Walnut Creek, I recommend giving this place a shot. It is definitely an older crowd, that knows how to party — leading to some pretty entertaining people watching. Little advice for this place. This place is too far from down town and way to casual to effectively enforce the collared shirt rule. They have lost my business before with this rule, and I’m confident they lose customers each night this is enforced You do realize me and my friends walked to Dan’s and spent our money right? Finally. They also had the nerve to attempt to sell me a polo for $ 10 at the door :)

This is the type of place where when you spill the remaining 1⁄3 of your beer(sometimes I talk with my hands), the bartender will refill it ½ full for you and then apologize for giving you the wrong beer. For the record, she didn’t even have to give me a refill to make up for MY spill, let alone apologize for pouring me the wrong beer. What brought us in was the karaōke on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays with a nice KJ duo, great selection of songs and good sound. They put new singers in the middle of the rotation which I personally don’t like but others don’t seem to mind it. There is also karaōke on Wednesdays as well as lots of other special events — check their website for details. They are located conveniently close to the freeway and a short walk from BART. The place is huge inside(seriously…HUGE) with lots of different seating options including small and large booths, tables, bar seating, etc. — great for a big group gathering. There are pool tables for those who like that sort of thing.
