We just completed summer camp at Walnut Acres Daycare for both of our children. We were very pleased. The camp is very organized with published weekly schedules. My daughter learned to sew a pair of pants and crochet. Both kids did lots of arts and crafts. They enjoyed their snacks and made me stay until 5pm when I was a few minutes early. We plan to be back next summer.

My daughter is enrolled in the Jr K program & I couldn’t be happier! It was this or the district’s transitional K class with a larger class & at a different school. They offer care as early as 7& late as 6 I believe. The teachers are wonderful & personable. It can get crazy at peak times when the older kids are out but they have alot of personnel so it shouldn’t be an issue. For Jr K kids must be 4 yrs 9 months to start. Once my son meets the criteria he will go there too. My daughter will be so much more prepared for K in the fall now. They mirror the program to what will happen in K working closely with the K teachers. Highly recommend & this is from a parent that HASNEVER had any type of day care for any children(I have 2; ages 3&5) so believe me it says alot for me to be comfortable with her attending Jr K there. Great place, great teachers.

It was time to decide if we were going to send our 5 year-old to Kindergarten or to Jr. K. We opted for the Jr. K. The big question was where. He had an AWESOME pre-school and I thought it’d be difficult to find a place that would compare. We were referred to Walnut Acres Day Care by the folks at the pre-school and it has been great! Walnut Acres Day Care is inside the Walnut Acres Elementary School in Walnut Creek. Even though it’s in the campus of a public school it is a private day care. It also serves as the extended care facility for the Walnut Acres kids. The kids have the Jr. K curriculum in the morning and in the afternoon they join the other kids from higher grades. I think this is great because they are used to the ‘big’ kids before entering kindergarten. The staff is great and very helpful. Most of them have been there ‘forever’. Turnover is almost nonexistent. I love the fact they have YOGA and CARPENTRY(yes! real tools in their tiny hands). They are always organizing field trips as well. And during the summer, their camps are a local hit. More info:
