Terrible Customer Service Normally I’m a fan of Talbot’s — their sales associates have always been friendly and helpful. However… I stopped in the store yesterday and found some clothing to purchase. I then went to the shoe«department» and found a couple of pairs of shoes to try on. I stood there for a minute, then realized the only two associates were busy at the register(one was on the phone, and it appeared she was on hold) so I sat on an ottoman, which was in direct view of the register. Both associates looked my way numerous times and I(wrongly) assumed they were aware I wanted to try on some shoes because, well, I had two sample shoes sitting on the ottoman right in front of me as I faced them. As one associate finished with her customer, she started to leave the register, but another customer appeared and instead of coming over to me, since I had been waiting, she proceeded to wait on that customer. After that customer left, the same associate started to leave the register, only to be asked a question by yet another customer, and off she went with her. In the meantime, the other associate was still on the phone on hold — to be fair, she was with a customer, so it was a business-related call. Ten minutes had gone by without anyone even so much as asking if I needed help, or even telling me they’d be right with me, so I left the store without purchasing anything. Hey, I’m patient and realize there were other customers in the store. But both associates saw me waiting for assistance, made a decision to not even acknowledge my presence, and one chose to assist other customers who were not waiting as long as I. They lost out on a $ 400 sale.

This place is the worst! I have looked in the window numerous times and realized the clothes in there were not for me. However, last night I was searching through downtown to find some nicer costume jewelry to dress up a black wrap dress I’m wearing to a formal event soon. Anyway, thought that Talbot’s might have some unique pieces that looked higher end. They sure did… some nice ones too. However, wow! what an attitude from the 5 or 6 sales ladies in there. First of all the place was EMPTY, all the sales staff was standing around gossiping-not one person greeted me or offered assistance. AND to top it off they were straight up giving me dirty looks, and looking down their nose at me. Just felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome-did not buy anything and WILLNEVER go back. Go down the street instead to Ann Taylor Loft where the gals in there are all friendly and helpful. Hope this Talbots closes and they open up something more useful on this busy corner…
