Service is slow, sushi is just ok. Had a bad roll here and the chef argued otherwise. Sick.

This used to be a good place until I arrived well within their hours of operation and they said they were closed for lunch. Door was open and lights were on. Until they decided to not serve me and shut the door and turn off the open sign. Head to the Nama down the street 2 min free parking and it’s always open and friendly.

Love this place as a vegetarian they have my favorite Ashley roll. They know me so well in here they start making my roll the moment I walk in.

Had my bday party lunch here was amazing I’m not a huge sushi fan but this place won me over the viper roll was amazing! I had the teriyaki chicken box which was super good had the salad rice, noodle and for the price I thought this place was the best by far but not only that the quality too staff was super friendly.

This WAS our spot for sushi. We love our bento boxes, agadashi tofu, dragon roll and spider roll. But, I was pretty pissed when I placed an order for take out for a bento box and a dragon roll. The box I ordered was $ 20 and was really a generous portion for one person. I ordered chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura, and sashimi. The dragon roll was $ 15 and was so pitiful. The portion size was like the small ready-made california rolls you’d buy in a grocery store. The amount of eel was a joke! I can’t believe that would be a portion that they would ever serve at a table. Because like I said this WAS our sushi spot, so we have ordered the dragon roll before. What happened yo? I feel like I got ripped off.

When you first take a bite of sushi, of course you expect everything in the inside to taste amazing yes? The fresh fish, the cucumber or avocado with the crab, you know all that goooood stuff. We expect that in our sushi! At least for all my «sushi enthusiast» But one thing people overlook with sushi is the RICE. If the sushi rice doesn’t taste great, then that can ruin the whole roll. Thanks to Nama, they have one of the best tasting sushi rice for there already fresh and amazing rolls! The prices are also a plus. Must try, it’s worth it.

Food quality is not bad but usually come here more for convenience. Agedashi tofu is so good. Sushi quality is pretty good, but prices are a little high. Ambiance is okay. Udon was pretty good(they use the chewy udon noodles that I like). Service is usually pretty friendly as well.

We finished our meal in 30 minutes. It was such a quick dining experience, but I’m not complaining. Shared 4 rolls among 3 people… a little less than what I’m used to eating at sushi places… lol but I was definitely satisfied after finishing! Harry and Ryan Love Football(a little saying we created with the names of our sushi roll order). All were delicious! And each of these had a cooked element to them. Either tempura shrimp, smoked unagi, baked scallops, or the whole roll being deep fried(also something I don’t normally order). It was all so delicious and freshly made!

My chirashi lunch was a bowl filled with rice and a surprisingly large portion of fish. Bento box was mostly rice. Tempura was nothing memorable. 10-piece nigiri was a good deal, lots of fish for the price. Servers were nice. They actually made eye contact and were very responsive to our needs. Place is looking a bit worn. My chair was wobbly and had to switch it out. An OK place to dine if you are in the area but not special enough to drive from Dublin. Parking is an issue. Street parking if you are very lucky. Use the lot down the street but since they share it with the next door market, it is also often full.

Only good for take out Sushi is divine, however, the place smells like urine. I’ve noticed it a year or so ago. It must be in the carpet, odor is closer to the door. I would have figured they would do something about it by now.

It is a very good go-to sushi restaurant. The only reason I continue to go here is that it’s walking distance from my place. The sushi quality is acceptable, but they could add more sushi on each menu item. It leaves each roll tasting rather on the bland side. Yama Sushi has a wide range of sushi rolls to choose from. As well regular entrée type meal options. Their Tempura Udon is good and filling. I would like to see a bit more variety in the tempura selection though

Service is consistently excellent! Small restaurant, but manageable. Parking is difficult with this location. Good Luck! Everything I have ordered here to date has been on point except today! Sadly I was served with old lettuce for my salad. Why do sushi restaurants serve romaine lettuce with julienned carrots and that disgusting mayo like dressing anyways? Is that suppose to be part of a traditional Japanese bento box? Or that tasteless kimchee-like salad too! Get rid of that pointless item off your bento box and replace it with something worth eating like seaweed salad. A bit pricey, but that did not matter initially. This was our new-go-to sushi restaurant, but now I am reconsidering it. Bottom line is that if the kitchen staff thought it was okay to serve us old salad they have no business working in the kitchen because they have no respect for the food nor the customers who will consume it. In which case I can’t justify the price point for the meals.

After trying Nama Sushi, you are bound to being disappointed with any other restaurant you try locally. It deserves five stars in many different domains: Food: Absolutely delicious, well-done and gourmet. My personal favorites are the Ryan Roll and Lion King. I have tried Lion King rolls in several different sushi places with very reputable backgrounds and yet, this place has the perfect Lion King– baked to perfection and not fishy. Ambiance: Casual, perfect for a date night with your partner in crime. Service: Phenomenal and timely. I have timed our arrival time and departure time and have managed to be served and out the door within 32 minutes. Impressive! Highly recommend this place.

3.5 Decent sushi and pretty affordable. No frills decoration and services was ok. However, I would go back and try some more rolls. My rating is only based on one experience.

I’ve tried this place probably over 5 or 6 times in the last few years. Each time I have not liked the sushi/food. This last time was no exception. I decided to be adventurous and order a noodle dish called Yaki soba in addition to a spicy tuna hand roll. Both of these items I ordered against my better judgment but hey why not? Maybe this time will be different… Negative. So incredibly not good. I did not even finish the Yaki soba. I barely started it. It tasted like earth. And not the good kind. Like gritty earth. Deep earth. Middle earth. And the hand roll tasted like fishy pink goop wrapped in leather. And not the good kind of leather. Or fishy pink goop. The bad kind. And my boyfriend ordered some rolls too. His tuna was also just so, so light pink. Not great. And in my classic Unilocal review fashion, I will leave you with a positive note. The vegetable tempura was pretty good.

This is my second official review of my series: Lunch in the Creek. I went on Unilocal, typed in «lunch» and searched for the top rated lunch spots. What did I find? Check out my list. I’ve been enjoying sushi for a number of years now. I haven’t always been a fan, but I know what I like. I normally go with the more American sushi rolls, but I can appreciate some more authentic sushi too. Since this was my first time here, I saw that the Ryan roll was popular on Unilocal and I also decided to get a California crunch(a old fave of mine). While many of the reviews are true(this place is pricey), I’ve never been disappointed spending extra for some good sushi and this place has some good sushi. The Ryan roll is just wow! The flavors mix perfectly and that’s what I love about it. There is a lot going on there and it is definitely unique. The crunch roll had the perfect slight crunch to it, while not taking away from the rice, sushi and avocado. Both had a spicy sauce that added a much appreciated, extra kick. The rolls are what I would call standard size, about 10 rolls total. I wont be coming here often, but I’d definitely come again.

Easy to miss when you’re hidden next to a corner, easily to be found if you’re looking for sushi! A friend recommend Nama to me when word of mouth their sushi was good. Expect great service, mouth watering sushi, and reasonable prices. Atmosphere welcoming/inviting as you walk in. Tons of patrons enjoying their food and huge sushi bar with tons of chefs working their butt off. The menu consists of plenty of specialty sushi rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, sake, and of course Japanese food. I don’t want to say it’s a typical Japanese restaurant because I’ve been to certain places were the food is over fried, tasteless, rubbery, service sucks and none of the above applied to it. I order a sashimi box since I don’t eat very much and my eating buddy order some specialty rolls which I don’t know the name ahhaha but he enjoyed it! Will be back! Thanks again Nama!

Finally checked this place out from our friends recommendations… Our home Japanese restaurant is Momoyama. Hard to say but his place is comparable in a good way. The seaweed is very good like SF North Beach sushi. All the nigiri is served perfect size and temperature. Beef teriyaki is very juicy and tender. Tempura has that good crispyness! I would recommend this place as top three Japanese I’m Contra Costa. Sorry for any iPhone typos

I had no idea this was a chain restaurant in Northern California until I read the other locations on their chopstick wrappers. go figure! Came here on a Saturday night for dinner, and it wasn’t crowded. Got seated immediately as a party of 4 and got waters and menus right away. I don’t know if they have separate lunch and dinner prices, but I did feel like their dinner menu items were a little more on the pricier side. I was about to go for sushi, but I stuck with the katsu donburi bowl. For $ 12.50, it was totally worth it!(Including the miso soup). It almost lasted me a few meals afterwards. My other friends got their rolls; they seemed impressed with the Nama roll($ 12.50). The rolls here aren’t very big and don’t look filling, but they do have a very nice presentation and were made fast. For the most part, I couldn’t really find anything special about this place that I would come back here again. Maybe this time in San Francisco I’ll try the Nama roll, but other than that it’s a little expensive for me as an average Japanese restaurant. However, I have to give it to them to offer an extensive menu with plenty of rolls or udon, donburi, bento box, and sashimi selection.
