Kelly-Moore Paint Store

WOW. Mike went above and beyond helping me pick the right paint. Excellent customer service is rare these days and I was so pleasantly surprised by my visit today. Thank you Mike for taking the time!

I’m a homeowner who has been shopping at this store for about 25 years. A professional painter got us started back then and we’ve stuck with Kelly Moore. We recently had out first ‘issue’ so I returned to the store. I was impressed as one of their sales team members heard me out, then I met with the Lead Sales woman, who promptly called their outside rep – who picked up the call on his off-​time :-) This was on a Saturday. On Monday morning, we had an outside rep here at our house to review. At no time, did anyone from KM try to ‘get rid’ of me. All levels were very respectful and happy to help AND keep calling me to check in! THANKS Kelly W., Laura S. and Germain S!!! We were so impressed! (I was referring to them as the «Nordstrom of paint»! :-)

While my Mom is in Germany, I’m attempting to renovate her house. risky, since she’s very picky and bound to notice mistakes. Last month, KM offered ½ quart fo free, so I got the appropriate «starter» for my project and asked for «laminate.» It wasn’t semi-​gloss and my kitchen was flat paint and Mom just shook her head! With the pressure on, I went back to my favorite location and spoke with Mike Goode, who took a great deal of time to explain the types of paint finishes and made great suggestions about products I might need to complete my «renovations.» The best part? He comped me for the free paint and with all the other goodies I bought, the total sale was under $ 20.
However, the greatest gift for me is how much I learned about what to do about Mom’s interior. While back at her house yesterday, I noticed her exterior paint is beginning to peel and her front door could use some stain. Mike… I’m coming to
see you again. Thanks so much for all of your help. I no longer feel I need a professional to paint (and sure hope Mom agrees!)

Had a great experience at KM today. David B. provided great customer service, was very professional and efficiently prepared my custom-​color order!

Struggling with color choices, my friend had a problem with the «sheen» of a paint she had selected. It didn’t look right on her kitchen walls. She’d been persuaded by one of the sales team to get an «eggshell» finish instead of a «flat», but it turned out to be more of a «satin» sheen than eggshell, and it was awfully shiny. After some discussion, the manager refunded her money, respectfully.
Then, after choosing yet another color in flat finish, the young salesman named Shane totally redeemed the Kelly Moore customer service by discounting the gallon of Primer she was required to buy, along with the new paint, and escorted my friend and all of the new cans and materials to her car.
Very kind service, after all was said and done.

Tim F helped me pick out colors that would easily match our floors and décor. He was really patient and surprisingly he listened to my questions and answered them.
I know I know that sounds wierd but when your redecorating paint is THE most important factor or else your carpets, floors, tables, couch, and window treatments will be off. Then your in a world of hurt and out a tonne of money.

Trisha… I want her to know that she is the best «color match specialist»! Her work and customer service skills are just far superior to any paint store in any place that I’ve been too. She matched a redwood stain on redwood… To a Douglas fir board… different woods accept stain different… it is absolutely a perfect match!!! You can not tell the difference! Thank you Trish!!!

From reading some of the prior reviews, things have changed for the better with this store. Jay Jimenez, one of the lead sales reps, went out of her way to locate 10 cans of Cabot stain for me. Called me back right away and had them ready as promised. Friendly staff provided tips on painting and loaded the product into my car.
They are customer focused and I really appreciated it. I’d go back for any painting needs. Ask for Jay and you’ll see what I mean.

I too felt as though the workers were sexist. I went in with my father and although it was my paint the worker just talked to him and asked him all the questions, which my father couldn’t answer so he turned to me, the worker never acknowledged I was even there. I’ve been to other locations and have had wonderful experiences. This location needs to learn how to provide quality customer service.

Wish I had read the reviews before I went here. They promised me my paint would be ready Saturday — same day I brought in the sample to be matched, and that they would call. No call. On Sunday I called and it was still not done and then they told me that they have «no one to match paint» on Sunday, so it would be ready on Monday.
That’s USELESS to me since I am off on the weekend and that is when I have the time to actually use the paint! I am now picking up my paint sample from the WC store and taking it to the PH store which actually has competent staff on a Sunday and has promised me to do it today. (we’ll see…)

Great service, love the paint, really nice and helpful people, including a color expert. I saw an ad on TV with a ending date. When I went there on the last day, they said the sale had ended the day before. I talked to the manager and she honored the ad. Thank you!

It was a very, very strange experience to visit the store. I had previously read the Unilocal reviews of this KM location and when I walked in, it was like I was channeling Amy B’s review. I thought, surely it couldn’t be as bad as she depicted, but it was.
The staff was helping customers who had already arrived, so I was the first new customer in line at the counter. However, the staff (both male and female) proceeded to help several male customers who came into the store after me, and totally ignored me.
While I was waiting (and while it was dawning on me that my super power invisibility cloak must be stuck in the «on» position) a loud, pompous, aging Boomer male, complete with the belly of his ilk, sailed into the store. «Hey, how many you got working here?» he yelled. The woman sales clerk promptly replied, four, and accounted for all their whereabouts. Apparently displeased, the gentleman informed her that there were more clerks working at the Pleasant Hill store. (So?)
Then he yelled to one of the male clerks, bypassing me entirely, «Hey, Omar, I need some blah blah blah.» Omar jumped to attention and helped him out.
I just looked at the Boomer until he said, «Have you been helped?» (He didn’t work there, he was a customer). I said no, I hadn’t, and pointed out that he had jumped ahead of me in line. Still nobody helped me, so I figured that you had to yell and be a pita in order to get noticed, so I asked loudly, «Excuse me, am I doing something wrong? Is there a number somewhere I’m supposed to take?» Only then did I get some help, from a woman sales clerk. Apparently at this store you have to have a duck and a deep voice to be noticed. You nailed it, Amy B. I will take your advice and go to the Pleasant Hill branch if I ever have to go to KM again.

Trish, their color match specialist has the by far best customer service of all the companies I do business with.

I have had only good experiences with this store, despite what other reviewers have to say. I went here a lot when I was pregnant to get paint for our house and baby’s room. The sales people were busy a lot but when they were free they were very helpful and always carried my paint out to my car for me. I will be back.

Long wait times to pay.

Large store with a great selection of paints, brushes, etc., but the prices are high and the quality of their paint just does not compare with Benjamin Moore paints. The only plus here is that they are open Sundays while the Benjamin Moore place down the street isn’t… the the staff here is not very knowledgeable… some high school kid gave us the worst painting advice. They will also keep pushing you to buy the more expensive brushes, etc. without good functional reason.

Rude, condescending, perhaps sexist sales help.
I have never been treated with such disdain.
Do not shop here.
