I have been drawn to come back in Changes, because it offers good services and ambience. I love the experience of changing to clean white robes & slippers in a very neat locker room. Today I tried their massage, although it is about 40% more expensive than most massage places, it is by far my favorite! & I’ve tried massages in SF, LA& outside US. But it offers the sophisticated treatment, relaxing scent, soothing warm towel, tummy & neck wraps. Totally worth it! Although, one thing I am not a fan of is the lack of camaraderie or humor among staff. The front desk almost sounds like they have a dialogue & most have an extremely poker face. Idk if it is a part of their«sophisticated service». I just wish they are more«normal», more welcoming & or friendly. Other than that I would have rated it 5 stars! ;)

I went in for a haircut and left extremely happy with the result. Ariana is awesome! She gave me suggestions and went over each different style I suggested. She is super friendly and doesn’t cut more than you ask like I’ve experienced in other places.

Am very concerned when anyone cuts my thick coarse hair. If it’s not done well I suffer with the results for months. Nicole layered and thinned it last week. She listened carefully to what I wanted, did an incredible job and I couldn’t be happier! Not only that, she is delightful!

I like Changes. Over the past ten or so years, I always seem to drift back here to repair the work(or lack of work) done by other stylists. I particularly like that they have Sunday hours. Broad selection of bumble and bumble products. Parking is rough… the best you’ll find nearby, *if you’re lucky* is a two hour meter. So yes, partway through my appointment I had to go outside with wet hair to pay for parking. Really wish they had a private lot.

It has now been officially 5 years since I’ve been going to Changes for my hair cuts and color. Shireen is still my go-to stylist and she knows what works for my hair and is always lovely to chat with during my visits. Changes has their stylists learn new techniques, attend seminars and are always keeping up with trends in hair care. If you’re more traditional, they will also help you maintain your tried and true look. They’ve got an adorable retail section with classy yet trendy jewelry, quality hair products as well as make-up, lotions and candles. I enjoy getting there early to have some complimentary tea, browse their retail section and pick out my magazines to read while waiting for my dye job to be ready. I’ve also had the chance to partake in their spa area(thanks to a gift card,) for a signature facial done by Kris. Not only was my skin glowing but it came with a shoulder and arm massage that left me completely relaxed and recharged. Parking is easy across the street at the Broadway Garage-first hour is free and then 50 cents an hour after that-makes it less stressful than dealing with meters. I always feel like a million bucks walking out of Changes and will be a happy customer for a long time to come. It’s truly a quality and rejuvenating experience and worth every penny. Hopefully in the future I’ll get to try more services.

I am a long time client of Changes, going on 10 years. I have always enjoyed the services and the experience here. Recently I had a very bad experience. I provided feedback as requested after my appointments. Still have not even received an apology from anyone. I received a gift card for a mini-spa package from a friend. I attempted for several months to book something however each time I called, I was told I did not call in enough time to book the package and was advised to call at least 2 weeks before, despite calling two weeks+ before requested booking time, I still struggled to get in for the services the package offered. Finally, I was able to book an appointment for Oct. 31 beginning at 10am. The morning of my scheduled services, I went to have breakfast with my husband prior to the treatments. At 9am, 1 hour prior to my treatments, I received a call from a man, I believe his name was Sergio informing me that someone had called in sick and they would be unable to complete all of my services today. I had booked services over 1 month out and was extremely disappointed and upset by this. I told the man as much and asked to speak with a manager. He then informed me he is the manager. I explained how long I had this appointment booked and asked why someone else could not provide services or why someone else could not be called in. He was snide and said he could«try» but doubted that anyone would be willing to. Frustrated I hung up and had my breakfast. After discussing it with my husband, I canceled the entire appointment since the manicure and pedicure were now not possible and I was really counting on the whole package. I re-booked the services, with the SAME package for 1 month later.(It’s now been 4+ months since I have been trying to use this service). Upon arrival I showed myself into the locker room to dress. The woman who was completing my massage came to get me in the relaxation room. As she began to usher me out the room, she advised me she had not been trained in the Spa Glow portion of the service I had been booked for, an add on and part of the mini-spa package. Are you kidding me? Not only was my original appointment rescheduled because I could not be accommodated, but now I am being told the person who they booked me with couldn’t do my add on service? This is ridiculous. Sara, the woman doing my massage, offered some aromatherapy scrub in lieu of the spa glow and advised my services would be discounted. I agreed hesitantly; I was already there, in a robe, what else was I suppose to do? The aromatherapy scrub was suppose to be an add on to the massage. I got into the massage room at 9:22. When I was done and dressing, it was 10:15. The massage itself is suppose to be 45 minutes with 15 minutes for the add on. I felt like I got short changed. She focused more on the scrub and I barely felt like I got a massage. A true disappointment as this is my favorite place for a massage. I went onto the manicure and pedicure. The manicure was fine. Nothing special. No soaking of my fingers to soften the cuticles which was odd. The pedicure was one of the best I have ever had and I enjoyed the chair and the paraffin wax and booties. After I was done, I went to pay and discovered the only discounted services I received was not being charged for the lame aromatherapy scrub. All in all I have never been treated so poorly as a customer. There was no offer to make things right the first time my services were canceled and the problems just continued. At this point I would not recommend changes to anyone and will be getting the word out about my poor experience. Truly unfortunate to find the downhill spiral this spa has taken in customer service since I moved to the area 10+ years ago.

This review again is for our hairstylist for life! CLAIRE! Woooo! She’s going to be a senior stylist by Dec 2015! She’s awesome. Here are our new edgy haircuts! We got them last Sunday.

this review is for Kristin. I’m very picky about who does my brows, and I can say I finally have someone who I can trust with them. I’ve only been to her twice, but I will keep going back. My eyebrows got thinned out on accident and she is helping me to regrow them in a lovely, tasteful way. Its a process, but Kristin is doing a wonderful job navigating me threw it. She’s extremely friendly, I love talking to her! It really is an all around pleasant experience. If you’re in need of a waxing, for anything, I highly recommend her!

I recently got a facial from Lexie and Cat for clogged pores. My appointment with Lexie was an «express facial» around $ 60 and 30min. I specifically wanted her to focus on my pores(blackheads/extractions). She did an AMAZING job! I actually didn’t even need to wear makeup the days after the appointment(a first for me!). My appointment with Cat was for a deep-pore facial. She also removed the deep, clogged pores and my skin felt so refreshed! Both ladies are super nice and welcoming! They didn’t really push the products on me — but the products they used are AMAZING(and VERY well priced)! I have been using them over the past month and my skin feels great! I will be going back for another facial soon!

We brought our bridal party to Changes the morning of the wedding for hair. One updo(the bride), a couple styling, and a couple blow outs And one getting make-up. The entire experience was wonderful. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the quality of the work was exceptional. Across the board — everything was a 5-star result. We also decided that on the bride’s one year anniversary — we are coming back to spend a day at their spa. Can’t Wait!!!

Needed a quick blow dry before dinner. Was recommended to this spot by a gal, Lori, from Macy’s. They were able to fit me in last minute, was an expensive blow dry at $ 50. I was assigned Reece and she was amazing. Was quick and great! I would go back to Reece anytime I needed something. Thank you Reece! 4 stars due to the great experience. Would have given a 5th star but this place can break the checking account.

Love Lexie! I have been going Changes on and off since they opened. Recently, I was intrigued by a Groupon special for a facial and redeemed it this past Sunday! My skin service specialist, Lexie, was AMAZING! First she is so adorable and nice which made the whole experience validate itself as a good investment of my precious mommy time away bank. We started with a wonderful foot soak, where she asked me about my skin challenges– we decided we needed to treat the acne. She told me about their product line and I took a few samples home. I received a lovely hand, foot and neck massage while various products were working their magic on my face. When I got home I felt like a million dollars and the next day I felt like a billion dollars! I will def. be back to see Lexie-‘she is an asset to their team there:) very professional, sweet and knows her stuff:)

I have been a client here for over 20 years and keep coming back for the excellent customer service. I take advantage of the membership program they have for monthly facials and no one is better at pampering me and taking care of my skin than Cat. She is personable, knowledgeable, and attends to my every need. For my hair styling, cutting, and coloring, there’s no one I trust more than Ashley. She is a top tier stylist who always knows what will work best for my hair and executes that vision perfectly. After all this gushing, why only 4 stars? The excellent services come at a fairly hefty price. I wouldn’t go anywhere else, but it is definitely an investment.

This local gem of a spa is lovely. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than other nail salons and massage places but you get so much more with Changes. I got a massage from Sergio which was lovely and a mani-pedi with Jenny which was heavenly. They have a relaxing Aqua Lounge complete with lounge chairs, tea and snacks. The pedicure is administered on an antigravity chair and they give you a heated neck warmer, foot booties, and an eye pillow. The wall fountain is mesmerizing. They also have a steam room in their fully equip locker rooms.

I went in for a signature facial with Cat today and it was wonderful! She was so knowledgeable and easy to chat with about skin and otherwise. Gave me great recommendations based on the form I filled out about my skin care regimen and my skin type. The 15 min massage that you get with the facial makes such a difference with her… My face AND back are thanking me… This woman is a gem! My skin feels fantastic and I look forward to seeing her again soon. :) all in all a wonderful experience.

I’ve frequented Changes a number of times in the past 4 years, always hoping that it would be the great quality salon and spa that it promotes and always being disappointed. The spa staff are rude, do not make you feel comfortable or welcome. The spa is old and smells. The pedicure is definitely not that amazing, I’d much rather go to my girls down the street for better quality. As for the hair salon, this is the ONLY hair salon that I’ve ever frequented where my hairstylist has to cancel last minute. Who likes that??? Don’t we plan ahead and wait long enough to get our hair done? Only to have them cancel last minute. It was 2 different hairstylists so it isn’t just the same person. This is a mill to just push people through. Doing the motions, in and out, in and out. Give us your money, thanks. Now write us a good review and make us best in Walnut Creek – NOT!

I’ll give this one a moderate review because it’s OK. Services are hit and miss like most locations but I have had more misses and hits. They are inconsistent in their offers of wine drinks and relaxation options. I like consistency when it comes to a 150 $ service. With that said… They are very expensive and don’t honor all coupons which is strange because good customer service always honors coupons. It’s not like they are really missing that 5 $ hah. I like the steam room before services and showers are available for after. The pedicures are awesome but finished way too fast. Like I said hit or miss… And some of their estheticians are not very confident in what they are doing

I called Changes today right as they opened to get a full set of acrylics done, not thinking I would be able to get in because of short notice, but they were able to fit me right in at the time I needed. First of all, the place is HUGE and absolutely beautifully set up. They have a decent sized boutique in the reception area with a wide selection of products to choose from.(Men’s skin care, too!). The front desk is well staffed and helpful. The spa is beautiful, with a waterfall wall, dim lights, and soft music. My manicurist was Jenny, a relatively new employee there, and she was wonderful. Being a cosmetologist, I can be very picky about how my nails are done. Jenny was meticulous in her work with my nails. I have NEVER had such a good job done on my nails before. Jenny took her time, was gentle(I usually leave nail salons with achey nail beds and fingers) with my hands, and exact with her polish application(I had gold glittery french tips and glitter usually gets everywhere but there is not a single piece of glitter out of place.) I am happy to say I will be going back to try out some more services with them both in the spa and hair salon. Four stars because I haven’t experienced everything in there yet, and will update my review as time goes by. Thanks, Jenny! You were wonderful!
