Saw Dan for several sessions with my wife. Our focus was on communication skills. The first couple of sessions were mainly informational. He provided a long dissertation on communication principles /techniques. We took allot of notes. Dan sold us a video of one of his seminars. As we watched it we both laughed it was a re-run of our sessions. He gave us the same speech with the same examples, same tone in his voice as his video. As we moved past the theory we did not find him to be very present during our sessions. He’d forget details /not track the discussion. He talked a lot about empathy in listening skills but demonstrated very little as a therapist. Kept harping on the same points from his videos. BTW — His techniques are fairly standard /nothing unique. In a nut shell — He is not emotionally focused. Don’t see him if you want to solve issues or need to deal with a crisis. Could be helpful if you want to learn basic communication techniques. But after a couple of sessions the engagement dries out. Check him out on YouTube and save yourself some time.

I have been a patient of Dan Beaver for many years and found him to be GREAT. He does not sugar cote your problems but talked about solutions to your problems. He is good a at wide variety of issues and he has really helped me.

Great Guy, Great Listener… But the dude wants his money!!! My insurance ended up sending me a check in the end for his fees not to him. I wasn’t aware of that, and he got pretty annoyed. Wanted me to meet him at his bank to give him his money, so I took that he wanted nothing more to do with me or my insurance. I had therapy with him awhile, and still like to go back to him, but he doesn’t take my new insurance and no deals with anything else.
