7 of us are dinner there today. I can only comment on our service level and quality of the food for me and my wife. It took 20 minutes after we were seated to take our order. Way to long! Our food arrived 45 minutes later! Way to long! My meal was not very hot or did it have much flavor. My wife said her soup was mostly water and lacked flavor. For what we got for the cost was not good. I can’t speak for the others but my wife and I will probably not eat there again

Italian food is good but overpriced. Wine is way over priced. Restaurant is clean, nicely decorated which makes the atmosphere pleasant(it’s an old train depot with a train car on site). Customer service is good. Be prepared to «pay» for your meal! Bring extra money… This is the type of place you go to once or twice a year. Casual dress.

Went with the family and got seated in the train, without even asking. They were a little busy, so service was a little on the slow side. I heard many great things, but the food was honestly mediocre. Husband had the«bottomless» spaghetti, which is actually a plate at one price, then each additional plate is an additional smaller price(so not really the typical all you can eat deal). My kids had the chicken tender kids meal, which was pretty bad. They didn’t eat it, we even tried it and the chicken was very dry and not a good tasting breading on it. My meal was chicken and capers, which was the best of everything we tried. Too expensive for the quality you receive… but that’s typical around here.

The food is ok… the servers need to know the menu better .one guy seemed to try to talk you out of eating there… seems a little uncared for, maybe a nice head to toe clean up. and my kids were served ice cream in a throw away container with a pull off lid that was half melted… but on a positive note. They have a good brunch

We had high hopes for this restaurant since it is very close to the house we are renting through Home Away. Walked over for lunch about 1:30, a few people finishing up their lunches. We both had the soup and salad combo. In both cases, the soup was only lukewarm. Hubby said the minestrone soup was tasty if not warm enough. The onion soup broth was not was flavorful as the menu promoted — just fair. The cucumber salad was delicious. If the overall meal had lived up to the salad, there would have been a lot more stars.

Fabulous. Halibut and chips are incredibly good, the Turkey/cranberry sandwich is the best I’ve ever had, the fries are beyond great. I’d come here just for those. Atmosphere is fantastic, staff is the same. Highly recommend.

i really wanted to like this place because going there was my idea. The food was okay, not great, not horrible. The salads were actually very good and the local wines were fairly priced and a good selection. The wait staff was capable and conscientious. It was the flies that removed any chance of an above average rating. We swatted and fanned our way through dinner but no one could pretend this was a classy place. And it was a tad pricey for spaghetti.

Jacobi’s café is amazing! Sure, the food is a bit pricy but it is worth it! I ate a salad and the chicken parmesan and could not finish my plate(too bad because the cakes looked delicious!). I ate in the train car, which I definitely recommend, it’s so picturesque!

I haven’t eaten here in a number of years so thought that it was about time for another visit. Even though the name has gone through a couple of changes-Jacobi’s, The Depot, now back to Jacobi’s again-the look of the restaurant remains about the same. This visit we decided to eat in the train car, one of the three dining area choices. You have a choice of the main restaurant, the bar or the train. For a more romantic setting, always choose the train. The menu has a nice variety of choices. The menu theme is Italian. You can order a variety of pasta dishes as well as seafood, chicken and beef dishes. They have an interesting yet fairly short wine list. You can order any mixed drink from the full bar. I ordered the salmon piccata. It was nicely presented but not very flavorful. The asparagus and potatoes did have great flavor. The overall meal was very enjoyable and we will definitely return soon.

Eat in the TRAIN! Yes, ask to be seated in the train; you won’t regret it. Friday was clam chowder soup day, and it was delicious with sizeable chunks of clams(definitely not out of the can, here). As I stared at my hubby’s salad while I was gulping down my soup, I had only a brief moment of regret for the calories in my soup, but that moment didn’t last long because the taste was excellent. Next up was my roasted red pepper gnocchi, which was also excellent. It ranked up there with the first time that I had homemade gnocchi, cooked by a little old Italian in Toronto. Perhaps, she is the chef, but I doubt it. Veggies were fresh and the overall garlic taste was excellent. The portion was huge, and my leftovers fed both my hubby and me the next night.

On our way home from Pullman to Richland last night, we drove well out of our way because my wife had such a great meal here a couple years ago. We arrived after 9 pm and were promptly seated. Very nice, attentive wait staff. I ordered the onion soup and salad — both highly recommended. My wife ordered a chicken breast entre, which arrived very undercooked. Anthony Bourdain warns to never send food back to the kitchen, but we didn’t heed his sage advice. Very clearly, the $ 21 chicken dinner was simply microwaved. The chicken returned with like two pieces of rubber and the veggies overlooked. We won’t return.

Five for dinner on Prom Night and Kentucky/Notre Dame game. Our family was seated in the Northern Pacific vintage dining car. Nice salads, fall off the bone ribs, especially well-composed wild mushroom pasta, and a selection of draft beers. Attentive service. Comfy ambiance. Recommended for families. Arrived at 6:00PM on Monday night. Lots of empty tables– bad sign. The place was quaint but looked to be in need of a facelift. The local wine list was unremarkable and the menu was entirely predictable. I had to return my chicken parmigiana as it was burned to a black crisp. The food was overpriced, salty and processed. I did discover a nice Pinot Grigio-Canoe Ridge Expedition.

Stopped by for an early dinner on Friday evening. Lots of empty tables inside bit still had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Friendly and knowledgable wait staff but very slow service for everything. Saw lots of staff chatting with each other while customers waited. Fun, clean and historic setting. Décor could use a refresh. Had Jacobi’s spinach salad and broccoli salad. Both rated OK. Spinach was a bit wilted and the sunflower seeds tasted on verge of rancid. Broccoli salad would have been better with a lighter touch on the dressing – a mayo-based douse that smacked of value buffets in Vegas. Breadsticks also rated an OK. Warm but doughy. Best part of meal was the pasta. The Wild Mushroom Saccehetti was excellent. It had fat sachets stuffed with a tasty mushroom blend in a lovely and delicate sauce. The Roasted Red Pepper Gnocchi were soft and tender with great flavor. It came with primavera-style vegetables that were cooked tender-crisp. The only potential upgrade would be to halve the oil in which the gnocchi were floating. Overall, good to great food but don’t expect prompt.

Jacobi’s is located in a historic landmark, the original train depot built in 1914. They even have a restored 1950’s vintage railroad car that you can dine in. They have taken great care to maintain the historical aspects of this space, in the entry way you will find the original maple wood floorboards and fully restored passenger benches. There is also a very lovely outdoor patio to sit during nice summer days. We came at a very odd hour as we drove into town around 3pm. The first place we noticed was Jacobi’s and we obeyed the demands of our hungry stomachs. The server was great and welcomed us, and sat as. We were the only ones there. The menu is Italian, and having food sensitivities that sometimes makes things challenging, but they were so flexible and accommodating and made something special for me. They took their sausage mozzarella sandwich and baked the ingredients between layers of fries in the oven. Woah, did that come out tasting amazing. For those who are gluten intolerant, the fries do have a light battering, so that is why you will not find them noted as a gluten free option on the menu. My friend ordered another sandwich which she loved. We commented several times on our great meal at Jacobi’s. Super friendly people, and great flavorful quality food.

I was in Walla Walla for business, and a colleague and I, after wandering through the beautiful downtown area for awhile decided to find somewhere to eat. The night before we had eaten at the Mill Street Pub(since it was the only place with power after a severe thunder/windstorm) and though it was acceptable, it was not memorable. We wanted someplace memorable! The desk clerk at our hotel recommended Jacobi’s at The Depot and we are so glad she did. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and stood chatting with one of the servers while our table was being prepared. We noticed that halibut fish and chips were on the menu and I told the waiter that I definitely wanted that! He said he would see if there were any left, that it had been selling a lot that night. After we were seated(in the old train luxury dining car!) and ordered our drinks, he came back and told me that I had gotten the LAST halibut and chips order, but because the pieces of fish were smaller than normal, he would charge me less. When the fish came, I was astounded… where were the small pieces of fish? There was MORE than enough! The breading was light and airy, and the fish firm and flaky, and the french fries! Beautifully cut/seasoned fries steaming hot. I couldn’t have been more pleased. And even though I would have willing paid full price, he knocked $ 5 of the cost. We also had the Sweet Onion Soup(we ARE in Walla Walla after all), and it was simply one of the best onion soups I’ve had. Ample carmelized walla walla sweet onions, hearty broth, bread on top with mozzarella. There could have been a little more cheese, and the crust on the bread made it a little difficult to eat, but we ate every last drop! I’m giving a full 5 stars because the service was absolutely amazing. Our waiter made sure that our every need and desire was promptly delivered, in spite of it being a busy Friday night. If it were possible I would come to Jacobi’s every week for the soup. I can’t wait until I’m back in town — Jacobi’s will definitely be on my list of places to go!
