Helpful guide gave us some tips on places to stop in the next town. We chatted for a bit and wandered through the small museum. Lots of information about the bridges of Oregon but also some cool stuff about the native people who used to be plentiful before the whites dudes showed up. That part was kinda sad.

Mary, the supervisor, is so rude. She is supposed to promote the city, instead she sends tourists to Cape Perpetua and Yachats, not one word about the docks, crabbing and shell fish, and kayacking in the bay. She is a terrible ambassador for Waldport.

There was a great historical depiction of the history of ALL Bridges in Oregon as well as McCollough the architect. The primary focus is on the Alsea Bay Bridge but there is a wealth of info on the other bridgesin Oregon. Additionally, there is a 20 minute video talking about the old and new bridge, construction challenges as well as the demolish of the old bridge once the new one was complete… some of the interviewees were challenged… The staff were nice but a bit odd… very helpful when it was all said and done. This is worth 30 minutes of your time and energy… and its free.

The interpretive center simply educates you on the bridges replacement. Strangely the tile depiction of this historic bridge on the side of the interpretive center is inaccurate, displaying an extra arch compared to what the bridge actually has. It only makes for a good bathroom break on a road trip passing through, which was what it was for me.
