Sweenys is the real deal for Irish food. I have been coming here for years. Sweenys is located in walden. The staff is great and super accommodating. All of the staff have Irish brogues. If you are looking for a true Irish experience you will experience it here from the traditional style food to the brogues. The décor on the walls is really cool. Defiantly not a place where you will be bored. The food is mostly traditional Irish with a little mix of American Irish. The things I enjoy the most here are the burgers. The handmade Shepards pie is a must!!! But defiantly check out there daily specials list. There bar area is huge. They have just about every type of liquor. They have a very good beer list. Draft and bottle. I enjoy eating here during lunch time when its not as crowded. Usually at dinner time sweenys becomes packed. Another nice thing about Sweenys. They have live music and on holidays they have specials on food and hold events here. Overall in Orange County. If you are looking for a real deal Irish experience. I recommend coming to Sweenys. Really cool spot. Just have a chat with a waiter or waitress and you will understand why I recommend coming to Sweenys

I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat and a beer or two with some friends on a dreary day, and when we finally left, I couldn’t stop saying how I couldn’t believe that I had never been here before. Better yet, I cannot wait for an opportunity to go back. The bartender was great — recommending some grub or quick with the banter — and my mushroom/swiss burger was just what the doctor had ordered. A couple of pints of Smithwick’s down the gullet on top of that, and I was a happy lad. If I had lived a bit closer to Sweeney’s, a bar stool would surely bear the imprint of my posterior. This is an excellent establishment.

One word: Authentic! An excellent place to meet friends and enjoy a Guinness or two. We love watching American and European sports there as well. Football, hockey, soccer are even better here. There is no other true Irish pub this side of Manhattan like Sweeney’s.

Very hit or miss as a restaurant. I find myself going down to grab a chicken sandwich or burger if no other options are available. Sometime the meat is burnt. The shepards pie is ok very under seasoned. I think being a bar is a good cover to hide quality of the food because drunk people do not notice these things. I think its pricey for not quality food. As a bar i would have to say they hit the high note. The beer is always fresh and never have to wait for a drink.

Great local pub to stop for a drink with friends. Interesting décor that keeps conversation flowing while you can watch the game, and all at a noise level that isn’t above background noise level.

I met my husband for the first time in this pub probably about 18 years ago. I am moving to Florida tomorrow and my two very very good best friends brought me out for one last hooray. Had a glass of ice cold Magners and that was it. The bar is kinda quiet on a Monday night, I didn’t eat anything. They didn’t have any music on so it wasn’t much of a party atmosphere. Not sure I would go back other than to reminisce.

The best Irish Pub in Orange County! All the customers are made to feel like one big family; it’s like an extension to my living room. Highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good times, good pints, and good food. It’s like our own local version of «Cheers»…“Where everybody knows your name.”

No!!! Went to see the Steelers Wild Card game. Needed to get out of the house. A Saturday night out to get dinner and drinks. The Directv was out. The owner sat next to us. We were the 4th couple to leave because the game was out. The manager left just before us and paid no mind to the game being out. We made the bartender call him and ask what he could do. He said nothing, just hope it comes back on. Just a simple clean off of the dish and we are in business. It’s too bad. 8 people left. 8!!! That’s at least $ 400 lost. Now I know why I don’t go here. Simple customer service.

My husband and I just moved into Walden from Michigan and have been having fun trying all the different diners, restraunts and pizza joints in the area. A friend of ours came into town and we decided to take him to one of the restraunts we hadn’t gone to yet. Sweeney’s Irish Pub. It was an early Friday evening and it was pretty quiet and we were greeted right away and told to sit where we would like. We picked a seat near a window, but the tidy porch out front would’ve been good as well as it was a nice evening. The server was Irish, so I don’t know if this was the owner or what, but he gave great beer suggestions and we were very happy with our Belgian white and German beers. We ordered the pretzel appetizers, which were good, but were interesting. Crushed pretzel on the outside and mozerella cheese on the inside served with a good stout mustard. We all decided to order an Irish staple: shepherds pie. It was very good, especially with the«HD» sauce the server suggested. It did take a minute to get our«pies», but our beers were filled readily and our server checked up on us and ensured we weren’t forgotten about. which it hadn’t even been that long! Overall, best place in town so far in my book and quick attentive service and felt like this could easily become a weekly thing :)

I’ve always had a good time here. Good food and good beer. They pour Guinness correctly which is always plus. The only downside is that the prices are a little high. Other than that I would definitely recommend this place

Came to Sweeny’s after reading the review about the good burgers. My friend and I split the Potato Skins, which were eh — could have used more time in the oven and more cheesy goodness, but good enough. Friend’s Chef Salad looked pretty good. I got a Bacon Burger with Swiss — came as a Bacon burger with American, but was still pretty good. They had Magner’s Cider, so that got a win in my book. I will say — if you’re in to sports, there are multiple TVs so multiple games are always on.

Sweeney’s Irish Pub is wonderful place for dinner and a drink. Prices are reasonable, and service is awesome. Show up more than twice ans Sean will remember your name and treat you like a regular after three times he will remember your favorite drink. Burgers are good. Buffalo wings are hot and delicious, but the best food are the Irish favorites. Shepard’s pie with HP sauce, Fish and Chips and from October to April the Guinness Beef Stew are all simply excellent. Ironically I’d only avoid Sweeney’s on St. Patrick’s Day. The place is a magnet and become packed with pretenders putting their Irish on one day of the year. The crowd is shoulder to shoulder and its charm is buried under all those people just out for a Guinness. Guinness and Smithwick’s on tap, so they also make a great Black Smith. This is the place I take visitors to eat.
